If you are looking for upgrade possibility, yes, it's a good buy, you can upgrade to 16GB RAM and 2x1TB SSD with RAID which is to replace one bay of the Super Drive to SSD. It will cost you for another RM2-3k for this option aftermarket

Else if you are looking for out of the box option, get the rMBP instead

If I want to look for external hard disk to use on both Mac and Windows. Is the WD My Passport Ultra compatible for Mac and windows ? The WD website stated need to reformat to use for Mac.. So if I want to use on windows I need to format again ?

install NTFS for Mac OS X

You can use both Windows and Mac on the same HDD

By default, your Windows NTFS formatted HDD can be read by Mac but Mac does not allow to write, with NTFS for Mac OS X, you can write back to the HDD

If you HDD is in exFAT or FAT32, you can use read and write in both Windows and Mac

If you don't have enough budget, my suggest is to get a used rMBP

You can get it cheaper than new ones and usually you will get a good condition ones with the right price

FAT32 you are limited to 2GB files transfer, any files larger than 2GB you are not able to transfer

so it is up to you and what files you have, only you will know

Bro, although the retina display is more premium, its worth it smile.gif Wont regret. Its very clear like iPhone thus you will appreciate the work more whilst using a retina display .

Whatever your choice, all the best.

Wanna ask, is it a good time to buy the slightly outdated Macbook Pro Retina?
Saw new model released with force touch trackpad but will ship in Apr and probably will kena GST.....
Does the new force touch trackpad make a big difference?? Will it be worth to buy the old model just to avoid GST??

Isn't the new trackpad is not for providing feedback, but instead it's pressure sensitive for its new feature? Sort like another kind of click or button, but it's touch based.
