Sifu Zenix,
Seeking your best advise. My friend wanted to sell his 2003 Mazda 6 (1st generation). It is 1.8cc hatchback model, imported from UK with current mileage at 130K. It is currently under 2nd ownership. Wanted to let go at RM 23K since this model is manual transmission.
Would you think it is a good buy? Anything should I pay attention to?
Thank you very much.
okay smithers....
for that kinda money and being old so no loan you're going to have to pay cash i don't think it is a good deal, older mazda's parts are hard to come by or not cheap, 130k mileage isn't alot for its age but i don't think it is a superb buy, if you want a manual fun car so little money and won't depreciate anymore (maybe even apreciate) do consider these....
2000 fiat coupe 2.0 turbo - should be in classic car category soon so buy it before it gets that status and it will get expensive, right now its cheap because it is old and cannot be loaned, still will arise some issues getting parts on the cheap or available on the spot (same problems as the mazda) there are specialty workshops that can always get those for you so joining the club would be a good idea......anyway for the same amount of money and problems i'd rather be driving around in an italian sports car than an old japanese sedan.
but end of the day if you're looking for a daily drive, cheap to maintain and reliable you should look for something like
2004 nissan sentra you can still loan it if you want to lower your burden or pay outright cash, though being 10 years old you need to spend abit to refurbish the car abit even the basics like new tires, replace all oils (engine, brakes, etc), replace all filters (engine, aircond), service aircond, etc. would cost at least rm800-1000 depending on what you choose.
2001 proton satria gti is abit of the above two, sports car looks and performance with reliability and cheap parts but the stigma of owning a local brand car.
so....three headaches for you

Hi I've been researching on BMW cars especially their E46 but am constantly fearful that if buying a <10 yr old car would probably set me btwn 30-40k.
Due to current credit limit, I am limited with a budget abt 60-70k, would appreciate any current owners and sifu's to give their inputs;
I'm currently considering the following;
http://www.mudah.my/Bmw+e46+b+-29195530.htmto be used for daily short drive within KL area, with occasional travel outside to Cyberjaya and outstation i.e. JB, Ipoh once or twice in a quarter
i know bmw's are more sporty and exciting but if you're in a budget pinch but want a german luxury mobile you should consider mercedes as parts are cheaper overall compared to with bmw/audi/vw and other conti maybe you can consider something like
2005 merc c200 cheaper to maintain than a bmw but don't expect it to be cheap like a kancil....think camry/accord/teana/mazda6.
one bmw you can also consider about which isn't too old is
2005 bmw 118 it isn't the 3-series but you get almost a similar experience as the model you linked but this one is newer and better since it is one generation newer.

2014 mazda bt50 - you can check if they still clearing stock for their old model, it is a good bargain pickup, as others in this range you only get the low-rider/2wd/manual version which is sad version.
2014 nissan x-gear - at the budget set, you won't be able to get a new c-segment car, this is probably the only car within your budget where you can get x-segment size and engine capacity, you got a roof rack so you can store extra stuff, this version of the livina only has seating for 5 but a larger boot. Only 1600cc engine but powerful enough for its body but don't expect very powerful engine response....just nippy enough to scoot around.
2014 vw polo sedan - isn't a c-segment but almost as spacious as one, it is larger than most toyota vios and honda city. no dsg and turbo, just a normal mpi 1600cc engine (mpi = dvvt/vvti/vtec) and 6 speed automatic slush box, old tech but more durable.
2011 toyota altis 1.8g - a few years of depreciation suddenly makes this car an attractive buy if you would consider a used one, cheap to maintain and repair, 1800cc engine and spacious interior good for long distance drives. A used nissan sylphy would be slightly cheaper but looks more ugly, i think the altis would be a better choice.
