that keyboard in the link isn't a real mechanical keyboard.
i don't know what switch is that.
for sure it's not cherry MX or alps.
it's basically rubber dome keyboard that attempt to give u mechanical keyboard feel.

for cherry mx keyboard, usually it's around RMB300 and more.

since you guys changed to mechanical keyboards

has it changed your typing speed or its still the same???

perfect training makes perfect.
This really not related to your keyboard, for your typing speed.

Because we will more want to type on our keyboard, then speed does improve.
Last time not really like to type on crap keyboard.

Hello sifus , newbie here. Just wanna ask , are these mech keyboards?? I plan to buy one of them but my budget only around rm 100 - 150. Feel like buying CMstorm quickfire TK cause of the LED backlit that so damn nice. Confuse. Backlit really got so important or not? Really will satisfy you ka? or without the light , just typing ady syiok?

the bottom one is a mech

and to answer your question. its all up to your preference. if you buy a mech keyboard without learning touch typing its kinda useless..
and if you mastered it you wont need backlighting since you know where the keys are ..

it all depends. but i suggest a customizeable backlighting like the cosair k70 and the ducky 3 so you can adjust which keys turn on

and once you can type really fast its feels awesome

If you want to experience cherry mx switches, better top up around another RM50 to your budget and get a keycool/plum/noppoo.

Also, to be honest, it is quite hard or nearly impossible to find backlit mech kb with your current budget. Since backlit isn't exactly a necessity (sometimes can even count as a CONS), I will suggest you to forgo it first in your 1st board.

There is are useful tips on the first page of this thread.
Google mechanical keyboard faq and read through the results on the first page.
Read through those and you will have enough background on mkd.

No. Its the complete opposite.
People who don't need to type much everyday or type slowly and poorly do not need a mechanical keyboard. Any RM20 cheap rubber dome will do since they type so slow anyway. Don't waste money on mkb if you fall into that category.

People who use it for work like me find cheap rubber domes need more finger pressure because of the need to constantly bottom out. The biggest defect of rubber dome is the jiggly feel which causes mistakes while typing semi fast or fast. Then rubber domes wear down faster and the feel changes and keys bind even though it still works because the stabilization is poor (or missing). There are good rubber domes in the past like the Dell quietkey but its discontinued and scissor switched keyboard which are hard to find so the only choice for serious typists are mkb.

Again, if you don't type much, stick to cheap rubber domes since you'll never wear it out anyway.

A very wrong concept, not all ppl are typist. Yet, I believe all ppl do have the choice at least to choose what they want unless budget restricted.
Say, if u type on mech kb its really superior of the feeling as compared to a cheap rubber dome kb by long term. Most ppl cant really tell how they feel by just testing a few times. You will only feel sux in case u pick a wrong switch that doesn't suit u.
This is also something similar like: human need to eat in order to live, but they can choose what to eat right ? Luxury or cheap food also very depending on personality, by nuff said: a gold in your eyes might just end up to be a sh** to the others.

I don't see why I was wrong since you yourself agree that a person who doesn't type that much can't tell the difference. It takes some training to type faster on a mkb to take advantage of the shorter travel. For a person who types slowly and doesn't need or want to improve their typing speed a rubber dome will be just as good. I agree that some of those people will just upgrade to a mkb just because it is 'expensive'.
