Just wanted to ask, even with the BEST tint, VKool or whatever super best. Let's say if you park in open air from morning till 2pm under Hot Sun, say about 30c and above.

When you get into the car, does it feel warm and hot (not the extreme hot but just warm)? Or it doesnt?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Yes, will still feel a bit warm. It’s just physics. No matter how good, a 5mm layer of film cannot beat that final boss nuclear reactor at the center of our galaxy.

Will not be burning hot where you touch the steering wheel and must go hospital to treat third degree burn, like with no tint.

More importantly, you turn on the a/c and the car will cool relatively fast, and remain cool. With no tint (or useless manufacturer factory tint), you need to blast a/c to max, and then once you reduce the a/c the car will start warming again if driving under sun. So your whole trip you’ll be dancing with your a/c knob, increasing and decreasing the fan speed to compensate, or if your car has automatic climate control it will do the dance by itself and you’ll start to wonder if it’s haunted.

From my experience with 3M Crystalline, your car will feel warm but it will cool down very fast when you start your car and switch on the air-con.

I have no idea on other brand.

Sorry sidetrack a bit,

In the centre of our planetary system called Solar System is our sun (the nuclear reactor as you put it)

In the middle of our galaxy called Milky Way is a Black Hole ard 4 million times the mass of our sun called Sagittarius A.

Ah, yes. Sorry. In my head I know solar system vs galaxy, but came out wrong in writing. I blame the heat and our lousy 70% VLT ruling for front. If JPJ allow 50% front, sure don’t have this problem because can think straight. tongue.gif

Avoid 3m tints. I used it, and after a while, it will have all scratches on it as they are using the sputtering technique.

imho, Go for vkool or huper optic.

My budget only allowed 3M tints as Vkool is over my budget cry.gif

But my 3M tint is still new la... down the line don't know what will happen.

Cannot be wrong with V-Kool. Mine already more than 11 years. As good as new, no scratches, no bubling, no peeling, etc. thumbup.gif

Doesn’t V-Kool also use sputtering?
Only difference is the material - ceramic sputter for 3M vs metallic sputter for V-Kool

Many different grades of ceramics and metals out there, but ceramic in industrial applications tend to be more scratch resistant compared to soft metals like titanium, silver or gold (metals used in metallic tint sputter). For heat, yes, metallics tend to perform better because they reflect heat rather than absorb heat like ceramics do, but in terms of durability I don’t think the type of sputter is the single determining factor. There must be some other variable at play that causes your 3M to scratch easily in this case.

Even after taking inflation and MYR weakness into account, your V-Kool price from 11yrs ago was a lot cheaper than current V-Kool pricing. Their prices are crazy jacked up right now.

Got to post an honest review on @dog999 service. Can vouch for his service on the following:-

1) 3M Tint
Confirmed cheaper, at least from the same shop as I so happened did check out the shop before. I didn't compare to other 3M authorised dealer though, so I can only vouch for the same shop, which is cheaper.

2) Ceramic Pro Tint
Confirmed cheaper, but I'm pissed with the brand/ service for various reasons, but not the fault of @dog999 so if you still considering this tint or maybe other tint, can consider his service.

Read few negative reviews on 3M tint here, so here's my thoughts.

- the shop I went was professional, and really nice people, workmanship so far ok but I'm still waiting for the film to cure. There was one less experience staff working on part of my tint, but I don't mind as everyone needs to learn, so fine with it. Lady boss (I don't know her name) is nice, gave me a free gift.
- shop opened a very small cut for my smart tag (it works), and the RFID works well too (not affected by the film)
- I honestly can't tell if the film is genuine, as there are just too many fakes, but I can say, the shop is popular from review and I received all those certs etc, so I hope all is good. If I were to choose 3M again, I'll go back to this shop.
- I'm fine with the temperature after installation, I can't compare to Vkool as I've not installed one before. Still some slight heat with 3M, think maybe slightly more heat than my Llumar Diamond 6 which is 8 years old, but I'm ok with 3M though.

believe the 3M come with an e-certificates warranty card. if that means maybe safer to know ur tint is genuine. there are many fake 3M especially the Crystalline model.

my dad's old car last time cw V-Kool, was installed by the SA as free gift, cw card so I know it is kind of top spec. It work great on day 1 until we let go of it, no issue whatsoever, heat rejection remains great. maybe extensive use of metallic materials helps? But I remember it makes the smaller/ black color smart tag unable to use, I believe due to IRR% at 97% is the main reason for it

You're right. metallic materials helps and it last a long time. As for smart tag use, I just wave out over the window. sweat.gif Another drawback - GPS signals inside the car... tend to be very low. Not easy to use navigation app. sweat.gif

How many layers of tinted is the maximum for the car windows? I have done double layer of tints (first layer by Perodua original, second layer by outside acc shop), now I have plan for third one but I worried about too many layer but I worried tearing all the previous layers.

I want to reduce others looking into my vehicle that’s it.

2 layer is the maximum I noted. try checking the total mil your previous 2 tint films. Else it can make the window jam?

Prime xr plus tinted, anyone use it before? Can provide some advice? Was quoted rm4300 for a suv..

Vlt 31%
TSER 61%
Infrared rejection 97%
Uv rejection 99%
Visible light rejection 7%
Thickness 1.5mil

Been seeing a lot of Positive Reviews on this Tint from XPEL what more it has a lifetime Warranty and it seems like a really reputable Tint from the US.
Talking about efficiency to dissipate heat or reduce heat, I think even with their TSER 61%, I trust they are like one of the top ones, you can just Google them or YouTube them.
I would say by all means, for trustworthiness and reputation, go for it! Though it seems like their PPF is World Renown High Quality lar.

Sorry to disagree, consider the IRR rates at 97% and generally low VLT, expect a more TSER.
