FWIW my old Nissan Sylphy (sold several years ago) came with all V-kool Elite whole car. That option cost me RM3k back then in 2009 but I took it as a package with Nissan who offered that together with the new car.

If I'm not wrong it is 58% for DX60. For D60, it is advertised as 60% and on windscreen real reading is is 56%. The fact that my side windows with single DX60 on City showed VLT 54%, it should not be different coz my rear side windows and rear windscreen using DX30 showed exact same reading 22% although windscreen are supposedly thicker.

Adding security layer shoot the DX60 down to 48% but windscreen won't use security layer. I'm not sure the quality of Elite heat resistant. Some might say, side windows not important but while driving, actually the hot sun shining on driver, the side is particularly important as it hit directly on on arms, hands, etc. I put particular attention to comfort (maximized them).

The problem of doing individual window tints is just like ala carte menu. Set menu much cheaper but when you go piece by piece, it is much higher price in general. My initial plan to change the whole car tint to VKool Elite again is VKool Elite front, VK-55 front side and VK30 rear...for Civic, its RM4850 quoted price from HQ for VKool Elite. Did Irispro DX series at near 3K. Diamond series is around 2688 whole package, Elite around 2388. Just tint windscreen alone is RM1600++. So for figure which one is more worth it. That is the previous quoted price. Come March 2024, I figure price might goes up again due to 2% ST taxes.

So I rushing to do all stuff that needs to be done before March 2024. Impact might be small but then again, it might adds up. Since it needs to be done, why not do it now. Thats my 2 cents.
*
Do you have the pricing for just doing the front windscreen with Irispro D60 for your car? I've got a quotation for V-kool Elite for front windscreen only RM1.3k. I'm still waiting for quotation for Cool Gard, not sure if it's any good and the price.

The new car will come with free tint, and a 2nd layer of (free) darker tint will be added to all sides (front and rear) and rear so I thought why waste it. Will just top-up a bit of money to replace the front windscreen to a good tint and the V-Kool Elite at RM1.3k (front only) is currently the top choice.

Another cheaper option is Cool Gard but not sure if it's any good but the price will be lower than V-Kool.

VKool officially has only 2 source. VKool HQ and Tint Shop. There is lots of fake outside.

At 1.3k for front windscreen, I would have gone for VKool Elite...haha..assuming it is from either 1 of the 2 source.
*
Thanks. Likely going with V-kool Elite but will reconfirm that it's genuine V-Kool tint but doubt it will be fake since the arrangement is by the new car sales guy and not from tint shop outside. After looking at the Cool Gard prices(significantly cheaper at RM380, RM580, 680 and 830)and the website which is non-existent (no spec for Cool Gard tint), will not consider it.

3M Crystalline is also RM1.3k but I presume V-Kool Elite is better, also from personal experience it's confirmed to have excellent heat rejection so I know I can't go wrong with this one.

Thanks for all responses. The V-kool installer is from the 2 companies as mentioned which is the same. Warranty card will be given for the installation. The sales person is my brother in laws friend so can be considered to be genuine.

Tried to get the price down to RM1k but failed. Outside price is said to be RM1.5k for front windscreen (V- Kool Elite) and RM1.3k is said to be the lowest.

Quick one. Let say if doing the whole car with V-kool Elite, and then sticking 2nd layer of cheap but darker tint on the sides and rear windscreens, it won't affect the heat rejecting performance of the vehicle but improve it slightly more right?

Any advice appreciated.

Not advisable coz high chances of cheap tint gone bad plus much shorter tint lifespan on cheap tint. Then you have to remove both layer of tints to replace.
*
Thanks for the information. Say if durability or short life span of the cheap tint is not a factor, performance-wise the cheap tint won't affect the heat rejection performance of the expensive tiny but slightly improve it. Will this be the case?

Thanks for the responses. I just found out that the "cheap tint" included in the package is actually not exactly cheap as the price which is printed together with the price list of the car as an add-on is close to the V-kool Elite. The brand of the tint is Ice Cool.

At first I was entertaining the idea of going with the full package of V-kool Elite for the whole car since the price is quite attractive and then adding the 2nd layer of Ice Cool darker tint which will be free. However, after knowing that the cost of the Ice Cool tint is close to the V-kool Elite and will be included free with the car (2 layers for sides and rear), may just add V-kool Elite for front windscreen only and maintain the free tints for the sides and rear.

2 layers of the tint on the side windscreens have proven to be not an issue as it was installed on many customers vehicles, given as free together with the package. The heat rejection performance of the tint is said to be good since the VLT is low. Dark tints will be a lot more effective than light tints, and since dark tints can be installed at the rear and side rear, there is no restriction. It is only the front sides and front windscreen which require high VLT so the good expensive tint with high VLT is required here as the cheap tint with high VLT will feel like no tint under the hot sun.

The cheap tint might damage the VKool Elite as well once they start peeling. VKool last really long. If you want darker tint at rear and tinting whole car with VKool, why not just go direct with VKool 55 for front side, VK30 or lower for the rear. Should be same pricing when I last asked.
*
Thanks. Yes it's exactly the same price quoted by the V-kool installer attached to the branch where I'm getting the car. RM4,850. Don't really feel like spending this much on tints especially when the free tint is already included in the package with other upgrades. In other words I've actually paid for the "free tint". Still considering on the tint options, will see how it goes.

Of course the RM4850 option is the best but also most costly. 😅

What you need to look at is IRR. Our weather, bare minimum should be 95%@1400nm (for sputter types). The “TSER up to 78%” claim is also a gimmick.
*
I'm not sure if one can even trust the IRR numbers published by some tint manufacturers unless it's a reputable or trustable tint company and the IRR measured by a device. Most good tints such as V-kool have the IRR in the range of 94% to 98% with Elite to V-Kool 10. I just noticed that with Totalgard which I've installed on my car several months ago, the IRR range is consistent between 98% to 100% even with the lowest performing tint Infusion Pro 65 N8 installed on my front windscreen with VLT 63%. The IRR of 98% on the front wind screen of my car actually feels very bad, close to no tint. As a matter of fact the V-kool Elite with IRR 94% on my old car feels much cooler.

user posted image

I've been given the spec below but I'm not sure if I can trust the real world performance of it, judging from the dismal quality of the Totalgard Infusion Pro with almost perfect IRR values which do not correlate to real world experience.

Front windscreen
1) Irr 95% rm830
2) Irr 88% rm680
3) Irr 75% rm580
4) Irr 65% rm380

Forgot to mention, the VLT is customisable (VLT 80%, 70%, 40%, 20%) with the four IRR options as listed above.

weird cz others use this brand all say ok it works, and after the installation can ask them to verify the tint IRR via devices. maybe your heart and wallet already chosen the V-Kool Elite at premium price icon_idea.gif
*
I'm actually looking at cheaper alternatives other than V-Kool Elite for the front windscreen sweat.gif If I have not taken the upgrade package which has included the "free tints", I might have gone with V-Kool Elite for the whole car. V-Kool Elite for whole car at RM2,800 is much cheaper than V-Kool Elite combination + VK-55 + VK-30 at RM4,850.

I don't know about others who have installed Totalgard Infusion Pro on their cars but based on my experience, it is not good but I have somehow expected the result due to the low price of RM599 for whole car. Perhaps others have gone for a low VLT for the front and side front windscreens so their experiences are different from mine as I selected high VLT for front and side front. Having said that, it is still not an excuse for the spec to show a high IRR of 98% even for the tint with highest VLT which is supposed to have the worst heat rejection performance. Totalgard has published both TSER and IRR numbers whereas V-Kool only publish IRR numbers, no TSER. Perhaps TSER numbers are more important or relevant with Totalgard whereas with V-Kool it's not relevant as only IRR numbers are provided.

Wait...VKool Elite only RM2800!!!! Coz last I verbally request VKool HQ for pricing and via VKool online shop, they are around 4K++ for whole car. The VKool HQ online shop price still listed a min. of 3950 and above.

VKool got publish TSER lar...55% for VKool Elite. All the tints TSER are even listed in their HQ online shop.

The price of V-Kool Elite is in the vehicle's brochure.

The online catalogue which I was referring to earlier didn't show the TSER for all the V-Kool tints. I must be looking at the wrong page.

The "free tint" which is Ice Cool actually costs RM2.2k which I have paid. So much for "free" tint.

That sucks bad. If option is available might as well get v-kool elite and just top up 600. Ice cool practically is cap ayam.

Yes, it's a gimmick actually all the promotion. The whole package of upgrades including the cop ayam Ice Cool is said to be worth RM8k but I doubt it. The overall discount given was RM7k.

Another layer of tint was added to the 1st layer of Ice Cool tint on all rear and sides. It's only the front windscreen where I have opted to have the Ice Cool tint replaced with something else more effective as it is confirmed that the high VLT tint at the FWS is useless. The tints at the rest of the windscreens are said to be better since the VLT is lower with higher heat rejection, especially after adding another 2nd layer of darker tint.

I just rechecked with my salesperson. The RM2,800 option for V-Kool Elite is only applicable before the new car comes out from the factory. Meaning, the owner has confirmed to install V-Kool Elite before the car comes out from the factory. If the car is out from the factory already, will need to follow original V-Kool price list of RM4k+.

For my case, I can't choose the V-Kool Option at RM2.8k as the car is already out from the factory. There is no stock for the colour option that I want, and since priority is given to cash buyers instead of those taking loan, my sales person managed to grab an allocation for me. Since the previous owner didn't opt for the V-Kool Elite option and the vehicle is out from the factory already, I will need to pay RM4k+ if I want to have the V-Kool installed (outside of the factory).

It's useful that TCM offers V-Kool Elite at a significantly lower price when compared to the price offered by authorised V-Kool outlets.

Which Tinted shop/film did you all use that is recomemded

1)totalgard
2)lavish
3)raytech
4)7 autospa
5)sun brother

unfortunately that is no poll system here

Even if there's a poll, it's very difficult. I have Totalgard Infusion Pro on my car but use the highest VLT (63%) on the FWS (which translates to worst heat rejection performance) & side front windscreens. There are people who use the same tint but with lower VLT on FWS so the result or experience will not be the same although the brand is the same. Also, within the brand there are other range of tint such as Ceramic Plus and Titanium Plus apart from Infusion Pro.

As I have posted earlier, in my experience the Totalgard Infusion Pro has the worst performance in terms of heat rejection and I do not recommend it. The only good thing going for it is the low price, 599 for whole car. There may be a difference but it is minimal to me especially with the front and side front windscreens where the highest VLT were selected. Huper Optik Sech60 and C40 combination is noticeably better at about RM1.6k which is close to 3X more. The V-Kool Elite has the best performance.

I will share my review on Ice Cool and Cool Gard tints when I have the opportunity. Ice Cool 2 layers all round and Cool Gard top spec tint for FWS.

Thanks.

Before I sign off from this thread for a while, just to add that even though Huper Optik may have decent heat rejection performance, I won't be going back as it only lasts about 3 years before the quality drops as you feel the interior of the car getting hotter. After 5 or 6 years it will feel like there's no more tint on the car as the scorching sun starts to burn your face. V-kool Elite lasts much longer, more than 5 years with minimal drop in performance. As a matter of fact even after 5 years the tint feels like it's preforming from the first day it was installed to the vehicle.

I hope the performance of the new tint is decent. If the performance drops after 3 or 4 years, replacing the tints won't be too costly so it's still not that bad. The top spec Cool Gard tint that will be installed on the FWS alone costs RM830 which is higher than the cost of doing the entire car with Totalgard Infusion Pro (RM599) so I would expect the result to be a lot better this time. Keeping my fingers crossed. Front VLT of the tint is 70%.

Missed your post. Full glass roof in future vehicles? If true what is the reason for the plan and when it will take effect?

I'm shocked there isn't a single review or post on Cool Gard tint anywhere on this forum and elsewhere on the internet. The Cool Gard dealer is attached to ETCM for many years and the tint is recommended to customers who seek a low-cost but effective value tint which does not break the bank. I've got it installed to the front windscreen and will have the opportunity to evaluate on its performance soon.

Top spec Cool Gard tint installed on FWS. VLT is 70% but it looks a bit dark due to poor lighting.

Sides and rear are on Ice Cool tints.
