More accurately we called it discolouration, yes and it is depends on the usage
and normally it happen after 5 years.

Not sure where does the OEM V-Kool come from but it happen after Eastman Chemical bought V-Kool from Solutia
http://www.eastman.com/Products/Pages/Product_Selector.aspx

It is a good marketing because we have high end, mid end and low end film and will not oversell the film

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_equi...nt_manufacturer

We buy high quality from others manufacturer who develop the technology and rebrand as V-Kool films.
Just like Toyota and Honda buy from Takata Airbag as their OEM.

From Eastman Chemical website, it stated that Vkool and Llumar are both under Eastman umbrella.
Never thought that they both are under the same holding company

With exception to V-Kool because it is metalized based film which I agree on higher TSER. V-kool brand has been in the market long enough and my apologies for forgetting to exclude V-kool in my rant and explanation.

I believe those who installed original V-kool has never had any complains on the tint at all, except for GPS and SmartTag. Do correct me if I'm wrong.

My dad's V-kool is 10 years old and still going on strong. Only problem is the GPS lock-on. Quite a bit of discoloration but nothing to complain if a product works as advertised for 10 years. Being protected from hot sun for RM1 a day for 10 years, what is there to complain.

Cheers.

been a loyal vkool user here..had it on 3 cars all with FULL vkool elite..
i would say the heat rejection is impressive considering is a VLT70% film..i would dare to say it is the BEST out there where others cant really compete wit using the same thier highest range of 70% VLT film..when i say this i was quoting it the rivals leading brands that u guys can think of in the market.. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

spec on paper might not be everything..i personally had experience with to go for a top brand with thier flagship film with 70% VLT and similar TSER spec with Vk Elite..on paper shud be a close fight..but in real world is a huge diff..end up after driving for a month i ask the same installer stripe off and top up to redo it again for me with thier flagship VLT 40 film.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

for best clarity and legal film, i would dare to say that VK elite is still d best, if the price tag doesnt put u off..or else have to go for other brands with lower VLT in order to achieve similar heat rejection but risk of JPJ and stuff..but just think of it if VK Elite can do such a wonderful job what could a VK55 or 40 with lower VLT could achieve..i believe spec on paper is just for published, real or fake for a norm consumer is kinda hard to verified till we experience it..just like some leading cars manufacturer quoted 200hp can out perform a wannabe manufacturer 250hp car specced on paper brows.gif brows.gif

Yes, Eastman Chemical is smart ass so they have

High End
Mid End
Low End

Can fullfill the market needs, they have Huper Optik (Ceramic) and Suntek under their company as well.
They are just like 3M whereas have over 100 ++ product under their name

All this while they all have been talking about BTU meter, IRR meter etc etc. Have you guy think of absorbing rate of the window film?
This just simple test to show how fast the film been able to reflect the heat just using a heat lamp and a carbon receipt.
I have personally tested V-Kool Elite with others branded tint which have same thickness and VLT but none of them could last against it.

I do agree that V-Kool price tag always is main issue to some consumer especially those with zero knowledge of windows film.
We are celebrating 25th Anniversary in YR 2018, if our product is not good how the heck does it survive for such long period?

yes, alot of film mentioned bout irr% and uv% blockage..but didnt mentioned about the absorbing/reflect rate..
for me a simple test is during traffic jam especially 12-1pm, tried put yr hand on the steering or on top of the dash to feel the heat..
if a good film it would take longer time to radiate the heat to the cabin once it reach the threshold, if an inferior film, preety fast the heat radiate to the cabin..this is bcos when the glass under the sun for prolong of time will heat up and put stress on the glass and radiate to the cabin.. brows.gif brows.gif

i believe tat this way is a far more effective way in determine how good a film is rather than on a moving traffic..on the move, there is wind to help to cool off the glass and take some heat of the glass..while on a static traffic this is where the glass is put under heat stress if the heat is high enuf it will cracked the glass by itself..hahaha laugh.gif laugh.gif

not to say that vkool totally block out the heat when in static traffic..but my own experience tells me (vs one of the renowned highest grade solar film from USA) that this is where vkool edge out other competitors film by a far margin..on the move the gap between vkool and other leading flagship film is much closer..

if price doesnt bother u much and u want the best film out there, just go for VKOOL..or u are can tolerate with sth lesser for a lesser price, then just go ahead with it..there is no right or wrong, especially with so many brands right now in the market, make ur decision and find a balance between ur wallet and ur requirement..just my 2 cents.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Hi guy,

I going to do tinted but market got so many brand. As my self I been using VKool, WinGuard & Aircool and found that Aircool is totally out as the tinted getting bubble after 5 year.

Winguard is better then Aircool as using for my car almost 9 year everything look good include the heat blockage and other.

As Vkool is good but the price is too expensive to apply. As i using it on my 2nd car and it maintain good but there is some bubble start after 9.5 year as last time the price for vkool is not that expensive but while the brand well know then is start getting more expensive.

As now for my 4th car I like to try some other tinted in market but not sure which to choose from and yet my range of the tinted is around RM2.5k.

Is there any good recommendation for SUV car? as I see on Facebook there is alot promotion and brand like Lavish, Hamel, 3M, Huper Optik and LLumar.

Using Wingard Royale on one of my car, it on the 3rd year. Surprisingly it still work great on the heat rejection since day 1 and no problem on Smart Tag//autogate (my preference)

During survey, almost pick 3M until the branch manager suggest to done some modifications (cut tint) for the smart tag to work.
