Could it be cement? polish should help, else worst case swap with spare tire.. Hehe

Found out that it is actually paint. The factory technician marked the rims. Sending it to get it washed and polish on my next trip to the car detail shop.

By the way, anyone can tell me where is the air filter located???

Thank you very much.

With Conti's, need to run beyond 100kmh for at least 1/2 hr, off and on. This is not only for turbo engines,NA also. Unlike Jap,Conti's like to be pushed to stay healthy. I do out station run once in 2 weeks and today my engine is very smooth.

As for FC,depends on individual driving style la.

Thanks for your info. I not sure because of this. But I do feel better mileage already.

i heard after do the rims coating, all the grim & dirt very easy to clean.  which shop provide the best service and best price ?  about how much to do rims coating for 4 17" rims ?
*
I apply glass coating for the whole car, and 5 rims, including spare tyre. 9H hardness, rm2600.
Very good finishing and service. Search them on FB, Washington Car Wash, M Avenue, segambut.
You will be happy with the result.

Going for20K service this weekend.
So far so good except for the temperature sensor which i think is always way to high. Park under the sun the temp will show 41C when the real temp is only about 32C.

Dear Sifus,

Btw, had a heart stopping moment yesterday when travelling back from Penang. Drove back my 408NA @1.30pm and it took me almost 3 hours before Kuala Kangsar tunnel.  I decided to detour out from Kuala Kangsar to reach Ipoh using trunk road.
I'l summarize the driving conditions & items being used

All the while, car is normal & doesnt show any abnormalities. I had also major serviced my car at Geotauto last week at 50k km together with gearbox oil & aircon filter. Complete spark plugs was changed previously at 40k. Had also pumped Shell Ron95 fuel to max rm107 with still a slight 2box of fuel left.
(All the while faithful to Petron Ron95)

1) temperature-indicators showing average
    Temperature of 38-40 degrees
2) Charging my phone all the while, aircon set at 19.5 & music
    blasting all the way
3) Had passed thru Sg.Siput, Klebang and also Lafarge's huge
    Cement plant
4) When reached Klebang@5pm+, detoured to Mcdonalds.

Was stopping at traffic light for 2mins, temperature @40 degrees b4 turning right to a slightly down slope road towards a junction to cross over to Mcds. At this instance and with my car slightly turning to right and rolling slowly to let a car pass, my car suddenly 'died'.

a) Steering was stiff as hell (feels locked)
b) All lights went up on speedometer, batteries, engine, ..etc.
c) A myvy was coming behind me!!

With lightspeed action(with my wife beside me), i quickly put on my hazard lights and step on my brakes. The myvi passes me & turns to Mcd at this moment. I immediately turn off the engine & quickly restart and everything came back to normal.

Whatever it was, we felt fortunate no untoward incident happended.

To sifus & other 408NA or 408T owners, what exactly just happened?

I read previous postings it might have been air pollution issue & i did pass thru Lafarge's cement plant!! Will surely bring back to SC to diagnose. Hopefully a one timer & no further repeat of this incident.

My Gf is driving the 408. I had similar experience with my Myvi as well. Mine was the spark plug cable problem.

Bro, very glad to read your unfortunate incident did not turn ugly. Kudos to your quick action and your family is safe!

Engine going dead all of sudden on NA has been reported previously. The problem was with ECU program, which were reset and no further complaints. In your case since you were able to start, the SC will say everything ok and not do anything. The dead engine incident will be recorded in computer log. Insist on the ECU reset, cos it is very possible for the incident to happen again. Hope your Lion gets fixed soon, good luck! Keep us informed.

The lion is very the powderful. You drive it slowly, you will see your petrol vaporized. But, if you make it run faster than a leopard, you feel it worth every single drop of your petrol tongue.gif

I come back from tapah to serdang area, only spent 1/4 tank. With 3 person in the car and average speed at 100kmh

Hi there. This problem may caused by electromagnetic valve in the gear box. Do check with SC and update us what wrong going on..

I realized something. My car is kind of bumpy. Maybe is coz of the harder suspension and bigger rims. But the most obvious is, the car is wiggly. As i was cruising on the highway at about 110kmh-160kmh, the car tends to wiggle. It swings left suddenly and the have to correct it. Then sometimes it veers off to the right a little.

Is the the famous "pull left" problems? Please advise.

Also, i cannot locate my air filter. Can anyone tell me where is it exactly? I plan to change air filter.

Thank you very much.

The Griffe has the same sports tuned suspension as the 408t. This is very stiff which provides superb handling, you'll forget it's a sedan that you're driving, but tends to be bumpy on roads that are not smooth. The stiff suspension does not absorb shocks very well and transmits it back to the cabin. For example,if you held a iron pipe and hit on the road, you'll feel the shocks back in your hand. The same action with a rubber hose will not send the shocks as feedback to your hands. The shocks will be absorbed. The same with a soft suspension,it has better absorbing ability.

At 160kmh you should be galloping like a race horse.......hehehe! When I'm in the fast & furious mood,I'd take LEKAS hwy. Many times done 180kmh,smooth & stable. The engine is effortless and sings so sweet, unlike the horrible roar on the K5 that I tested! OMG that was scary, as if the engine was going to bust!

I'm not sure about the wiggle, but my car certainly had a gradual left pull. I thought on new cars this was solved. Anyway don't waste your time with SC to correct the left pull, they have no alignment equipment. I solved mine at a tyre shop.

I'm in Australia now. When I get back will check my car and let you know the air filter location.

Today i called up Puchong SC and told them I need to send my car in for checking on few issues and I was lucky that they could accommodate to my request.

i) Changed H7 bulb for 2 times within 4 months - I asked them to run a check if there is any problem on the headlight electrical wiring. However, the SA said there is no faulty error from the result of the testing.

ii) Ventilation system - Outside smell (like exhaust smell from bus) entering the cabin whether the air re-circulation is on/off. The SA only checked on the air filter and said it need a change as it was very dusty already. He only cleaned the dust using air. He asked me to make an appointment to further check on the ventilation problem. So far, I didn't notice any drop in the coldness of the air-conditioning even at night time.

iii) A noticeable gap on the left front door (see the below picture) - Not sure whether it was due to the rubber car door seal problem or something else. The SA could only carry out the detail checking in the next appointment. They can't do it today without appointment. Lucky that there is no illumination of car door warning light that show the left door is not closed properly. Phew. sweat.gif

I still have 900km to go before it due for 40k service. Will get them to check on those problems again.

i notice 408s are very "sensitive" to side winds, if you've driven a van that how it feels albeit at a smaller percentage of drag

maybe that's the wiggling sensation you're talking about

most taller body cars or minivans or vans or buses, in ascending orders has this problem

never has such problem with older cars that has a lower roofline

Hey NA owers.
I just got my Car last week 408 NA I found that the car was shaking the moment it hits 100Km/h. went to service center they say probably its balancing and alignment. fuel consumption seems high too.
Anyone has such issue?
