High press fuel pump has been an issue with Prince engine. There has been numerous complaints. On EP6CDTM,HPF pump has been modified to cope with lower grade fuel and a additional fuel filter has been included. I think this may be an isolated case. Anyway good to keep an eye. Tq

An eagle eye. Does vibration on our engine is a sign of this issue? Any other symptoms?  HPFP covered under warranty. But how long? I believe It's wear n tear part.
*
Yes vibration is a symptom. At the same time vibration could be a symptom of many issues. HPFP is covered under warranty. Yes that eagle eye is necessary! Good luck!

Good to hear you are fine. I do agree this car's safety features are excellent and that goes a long way to keep us & our family safe while driving. This is one very reason I bought this car.

Recently I had an incident which could have resulted in the death of a motor cyclist. This young and reckless champion overtook me,squeezing himself into the narrow space between me and the car next to me at Jalan Sultan with extremely heavy traffic. He then cut in front of me before he was really clear. In that reckless action he clipped my front fender and fell right infront of my car! OMG....that was a dead man,I was going to run over him! Immediately I applied emergency brakes and managed the stop the car 5 feet from his face. For that moment he was horrified and knew his death was at bay. He's face was like seeing the devil!

If not for the excellent brakes on this car, that was a dead man!

This car is worth every penny spent! thumbup.gif

ahui & ghost007

My coolant level has dropped 1cm since the last top up which was 6months ago. It has not reached the low level, so I did not top up. Water is ok but it will dilute the coolant which has anti rust property.

The most probable cause is leaking hoses or radiator, which i have checked and found no leaks. The next suspect is water pump. Need to jackup the car to inspect, unable to do this. Am due for 30K service end of this month. Will get the SC to check the water pump for leak.

Will keep you guys informed.

Is that a 408 2.0 NA without ESP?
I like the NA's ride, comfort and value for money but no ESP & only 2 airbags.
I like the 408Turbo for its safety features and better FC.
Dilemma.

Hi bro. NA with discount is without question a real good buy. 408T also has offers. Although it does cost a bit more,I absolutely recommend this.

The additional safety features are worth every cent.It is a small price to pay to keep our family safe. Apart from that the 6spd gearbox is as smooth as silk and engine torque is exciting and addictive!

I've had my 1.6t for 18months,the Lion never fails to thrill, every time! tongue.gif

Does any indicator lit up or you guys spot it when inspecting it under the hood?
*
My situation is exactly like ahui's. The photos he posted shows my case. No warnings yet, spotted it on my regular visual inspection. Water evaporation ghost007 explained is true,in which case it's a good idea to buy a bottle of coolant for topups. I actually fist noticed the drop in level 5 months after I bought the car. Personally I don't like to topup with water. As more and more topups are done, coolant is diluted greater. Diluted coolant is less effective in heat removal

No. I was found this issue through a pug 408 forum in China.

Last night, I did check it on mine 408, total 5 bulbs. All are melted due to bulbs touching on the plastic...In China, this is common problem over there, so they change the normal bulbs to LED to prevent further damage on the plastic.

You can check yours too, I can confirm. it melted  sad.gif

Tks for the heads up. Will check mine.

Hi guys...im here seeking advice from the owners on behalf of my friend..
My friend is seeking a C-segment to replace his aging and problematic FD civic and he found 408...
I heard that the 308 1.6turbo is having tons of problem and this 408 1.6turbo uses the same Prince engine...after i read through i found that the Prince engine in 408 is different with revised engine parts...so is it reliable?
There is a promo going which 2.0NA only sell at RM95k...worth it?

So my questions are:
1) Is the 1.6 turbo Prince engine reliable?
2) Is the 4 speeder and 6 speeder found in both 408 variants reliable?
3) The 2.0NA engine is from 407, so should be pretty reliable?
4) After sales service. Many say spare parts is very rare, sometimes need to wait for weeks to get the parts. Is it true?
Lastly but not least, is 408 worth it?
*
Hi MLSpeed
1) Early Prince had hods of problems. I think you already know about this. This Prince carries 8 mods which has made this engine very reliable. The 8 mods address reliability issues. Look at page 1,all the mods are listed. I've had my car for 18months,not a single engine problem. There are about a 100 owners here in the forum,no one has complaint about the engine.
2) Both 4spd and 6spd are reliable. 6spd is silky smooth.
3) 2litter NA is the reliable 407 engine, but given a slight uplift with 8hp more.Gearbox is the new improved 4spd,AT8.
4) NAZA's support and service has been less than adequate. Improvements are being made, but there always room for more.

Both NA and 1.6t are worth every cent. With year end sales the NA is 95K,imagine getting a conti at this price,it's a fantastic bargin!

The 1.6t is best bet for money. There is nothing to match this car at this price with this spec! $17k extra for this car is really cheap. The 6spd gearbox alone cost more than $17K! The turbo engine is more expensive to build due to all the high tech stuff. Look at the extras you are getting. My wild guess, it may cost $70K to add on all the extras after market!

When to have a look at the 408T again b4 deciding, but still can not stand the 'plastic burning smell' of the leather seats and it is a 1-year-old test-drive unit. But no such smell on the 508T, maybe diff leather.
*
408t being priced that low,I wouldn't be surprised the leather is not very good quality. 508 is in the luxury class! If you are going for the 508GT,that is superb car la! you have my full envy! tongue.gif

Latest list price for 2.0NA is rm109888 and 408T is rm128888, a diff of rm19k.

IMO 408t was priced low for what it offers. I'm not surprised with the new price. $19K diff is still not much when you do a costing on the extras this model offers. I would still grab it to enjoy a great driving experience!

Hi SKYJack,

Thanks for the heads-up, i called the advertiser but ts a gimmick. Reading carefully, the headline is for both turbo and premium griffe, so 117k is for turbo after discount etc.

too good to be true wink.gif

Since there's no discount for Griffe and we already have a turbo, therefore, we had book a 208 and save 30k instead wink.gif. 208 for my wife to drive in the jam. I didn't see any forum for 208 tho, any ideas?
*
Hey hi
So it was a advert gimmick la...hahaha. Ya it is too good to be true, especially since the 408Griffe was introduced just a couple of months back.

I did see a 208 thread. Everyone is very pleased with the car. I think it's a great little car for the wife to potter around. I'll post the link should I come across it again.

What price you got it at. Was it direct owner or dealer? Don't forget to get warranty transferred to you!

Bought from Kota Damansara Peugeot showroom. It was the test drive unit - 6 months old. I guess some members here have driven the car before biggrin.gif Bought for 100k excluding insurance and tinting. 5 years warranty on parts only.

I signed the manual and warranty booklet, but the name written there is the dealership's name. The SA told me that that is all I need to do, for warranty to be transferred to me. Can anyone please share your knowledge on this?

Thanks!
*
Congrads and good buy! I guess the warranty is ok. Just to be on the safe side I would drive over to SC and check with service manager if your warranty documents are in order. Service manager would be the best to advice you.

Clarifying the gearbox comment by myself:

- When accelerating, the car feels great, no doubt.
- Until reaching 3rd or 4th gear however, the car feels a bit reluctant a bit "loose". When driving in tiptronic mode then there is no such feeling.
- When slowing down quickly, the car feels reluctant to drop gears sometimes, resulting in a bit of dragging.
- When changing speeds regularly (fast/slow/fast/slow), the car is sometimes reluctant to drop gears, and sometimes reluctant to engage the next gear.
- When starting off from a standstill (0-30kph range), the car feels reluctant to increase its speed when gradually applying pressure to the accelerator. Again, no such problem in tiptronic mode.

Today, the engine kept its RPM at about 4-5k for a while even after i let go of the accelerator pedal. Anyone else experienced this before? I think the car did slow down though... Not entirely certain what happened... Will see if it happens again.

*
I don't think there's anything wrong with your gears. All the of above are normal for this gb. The gb may be still adapting to your driving style which is probably different than whats in it's memory. I would suggest gb reset. It's actually very simple.

Turn off engine,as the lights dim, press and hold accelerator fully down for 15sec. It will probably take a day or 2 for the gb to adapt to your driving style. After that it should be smooth.

Good to see NA ownership increasing. At 95K it is a fantastic buy. I'm trying to get brother in law interested. He's waiting for the new Altis. Unfortunately Toyota is such a strong brand name,I don't think I'm having much success! I let him drive my Lion. He drives so boring, no wonder he likes Toyota!
