I brought my chest xray report but the immigration in Birmingham never check them. I think London is quite strict so just bring whatever u needed to be on the safe side.

For SIA, is it ok if I carry one laptop bag, one carry-on luggage bag and one handbag? They wouldn't weigh the laptop, rite?

Yes in the first place your laptop is allowed.

And they wont weigh any of your carry-on.

That's a little many things to bring along. You might want to cut down on your handbag

Technically, they do have specific weight for hand-carry luggage.

But practically, they don't weigh it as long as your hand-carry does not look too heavy (visibly).

how about other airlines icon_question.gif ? last time i heard all the airlines implement the same rule after the terroist incident. All of them only allow ONE hand luggage with max dimension not more than 45x35x16. if u carry your laptop bag that also consider as one already so u are not allowed to bring any other hand luggage. blink.gif

So is the information that i obtain is wrong or they have loosen the rule already?
Or the luggage allowance that scilent scream stated one ONLY apply to SIA? other airlines cannot do like that ka shocking.gif ?

Heard the same from my bro's friend who just flew there 2 weeks ago. Only ONE hand carry INCLUDING laptop bag. But this is only for MAS, don't know about other airline. Must call up and check.

As far as I am aware, this restriction applies to any flight to or from UK airports. So whether it be MAS/ SIA/ BA/ Qantas/ whatever, you are only allowed one bag maximum within the dimensions 45 x 15 x 30 cm (or thereabouts). No exceptions.

Let me put this into perspective for people who keep on asking the same questions and the people who keep confusing others.

The one hand carry rule and the baggage size rule only applies to people leaving from/or transferring/transiting from a UK airport.

If you are leaving from KLIA, you need to remove any liquid/gels products from your hand carry or they will be confiscated. If you are leaving from Changi airport then you are allowed to bring liquids/gels but they are subjected to screening by the officers to make sure the contents are not illegal.

And from Qantas's website:
"These new security measures only apply to passengers travelling from London or making a direct connection through London-Heathrow airport. The normal carry-on baggage allowances apply for travel to and from all other cities (outside the UK, USA and from Singapore and Mumbai)."

From Changi airport website:
"Passengers travelling to the UK and India to connect to another flight should note that there are restrictions on the size of hand-carry luggage (for the UK only) and the carriage of liquids, gels and aerosols (for UK and India) in hand-carry luggage when departing from airports in the UK and India."

And is it ok if I bring along a photostated textbook?

I heard that the british immigration officers will ask question when we pass thru the immigration counter..So what questions usually they would ask and how should i answer them so that i could easily get thru them? And i am coming to uk to study my final year....suppose i should bought two way air flight ticket but i only bought one way..because the expiry date of the two way air flight ticket is ended before the visa end. I am worrying about the immigration officer would ask me 'why there is only one way air flight ticket?' So anyway..Pls tell me how to answer these kind of questions...

This is what Immigration Officer asked me:

1) What are you pursuing (as in studies)?
2) How long are you going to be in UK?
3) Where is your university?

That's about it while looking at my offer letter at the same time. smile.gif

I think they won't look at your flight tickets because it is non of their business. Furthermore, make sure you speak good English for faster clearance.

The immigration officers ask you those questions partly as a basic test of your English language skills. If you can't answer them, then either

1) You're an illegal immigrant with forged documents and have no idea how to answer what they are asking you (just because, or because you can't speak English to begin with)
2) You have lousy English and do not reflect what your IELTS should be (then you would have not been made an offer as a decent IELTS is prerequisite)
3) You're lost, like tommy141184 (joking mate!)
