QUOTE(yeahs4.1 @ Jul 9 2006, 12:59 AM) is there any way i can go to sheffield ( or wherever place that provide good engineering course)? i mean through wat college and wat programme? now i'm still a diploma.. gonna plan my future very soon enough... the route i'm taking now is inti college --> diploma in civil engineering 2+2 --> to UK's universities --> i choose U of Birmingham --> total cost for another two years BEng (tution +living cost) is RM 220K (this cost is not included your working income in UK and scholarship).hope i can go to study at uk but the chances nearly impossible as my family is not rich enough to send me there + i have 6 siblingls... at 1st i never thought of going oversea but suddenly feel that it's going to be a very good experience as every forumer gives a very good response.. somebody help me!!!!! guide me to UK!!!!!! the route i'm taking has more choices but one thing is very "Ma Fan" that is the UK Visa application. this means u need to show them u have this amount RM220K if u want to study in Birmingham. i.e from your mother, father saving, OD, fix-D and so on. so this u need to plan earlier. birmingham offer scholarship for international student also which is worth total about 3000 each year. subject to your performance This post has been edited by kelvinbongcn: Jul 9 2006, 10:30 AM |

QUOTE(yeahs4.1 @ Jul 9 2006, 12:39 PM) but now i'm taking electronic engineering.. is this course available there? Yup, some of my friends also take E&E. INTI has two types, one is 2+2. another one is 2+1. for the first route u have more choices. more UK and australia universities u can apply to include the famous one. but for the second one u only can apply to three universities in UK if i'm not mistaken. that u have to check with inti for the degree program. for my 2+2, two years is about 18K~19k. for 3+1 one i'm not sure inti have 3+1 programme right? wat is the cost? after i graduate there, can i work there? working, i heard most of my senior said so far so good. easier to find compare to other country. but some say different word This post has been edited by kelvinbongcn: Jul 9 2006, 02:27 PM |

i've checked, Emirates can give student 30kg. this is what my college agent told me, is that true?
And because i'm from kuching, so from KCH to KLIA my agent tell me just tell them that i'm a student when check in then they will allow me to bring 30kg stuffs without additional charge. (no need to apply in advance) so i wish to confirm here is--- is this really fine to just do like this. i worry if they suddenly say cannot then i'll "Kelam-Kabut" during check in. thanks if anyone can provide the information about this |

QUOTE(Geminist @ Aug 11 2006, 04:49 PM) About the flights, I read in the news yesterday that BAA has requested airports to follow specific security measures for flight bound to UK. So if you are not allowed to carry on any hand luggage and stuff like that, I believe KLIA will most likely inform the passengers prior to the flight. Thanks Geminist. your last sentence really boost me up a lot About getting a job, I'm not a bright/young/genious graduate, but I did found a job here. And some forummers also managed to find a job here. It might not be the job that everyone dies for, but I certainly love that job because the field I'm in has little prestigious companies and this is one of the best companies in this field Lastly, for now, the shortage falls on civil engineering sector, so in other word, it's easier for civil engineer to get a job because companies do not need to go through a series of hassle to apply a permit for them compared to other engineering discipline. For those who are now in UK If really not advisable then i need to change soon as I book the ticket already. Damn terrorists... make me do twice for the same job. |

QUOTE(elb @ Aug 12 2006, 05:29 PM) Of course, if you read carefully they did state that for the engineering related fields in that list, you need to have the relevant experience. Erm.. sorry i'm a bit blur regarding this. from the link u provide, it states engineer require 2 years working exp to get a work permit. And like I said, if you are promising or have the stuff the companies are looking for, then some of the companies will be willing to bend their backs and to make the effort to get you that work permit in spite of the EU competition. Having a degree from the top few universities will certainly help. then, under SEGS - Science and Engineering Scheme, if graduate with second class honours (2.2) or higher can stay in UK for a year. So, if during that period i manage to work in the engineering related field till the given term is finished. This means i cannot either stay or apply for worK permit? due to i dont have enough working experience (just work till about a year only) arang-arang Or as long as my employer agree to sponsor me, then i can still work in UK for the remaining time. But is this kind of work permit same as the work permit that u showed us? Thanks in advance |

Yup, HSBC for international student one we need to pay GBP5 EVERY MONTH.... really not good la.. so to make it short. to get a HSBC student or international student bank account we need to stay at least 2.5-3 years in UK right? then we can open its account. unless we have so much many that can let their eye
