Not washing plates.. I do take telephone or meal orders... Actually that's a gal job, but they say my talking is more polite than da gals... so I do those stuff.. Just talk talk talk.. Like Customer service type lo..

Printers... Imagine u buy 1 orignal Canon black ink cause RM20.. in UK original black ink cost 13 Pounds = 3-4 times expensive... So I suggest get from Malaysia for the ink.. no matter on 3rd party as well... INK are very expensive..  Printer ah... hmmmm... price still resonable... but if u think wana bring it, better ask your parents to send by poslaju once you have arrive and settle ur accomodation.. So.. it's up to you.. Check the price in UK then u can compare wit Malaysia..
*
I buy good black refill inks online plus delivery for only 1.6pounds for my canon i250 so i dont think it is necessary to buy ink over so its up to you.

this sort of ruling is getting more n more crazy.
i just called up the MAS enquiry center n they said i'm allowed one hand carry and laptop bag.
the dimension for the hand carry luggage would be: length=45cm, width=35cm, depth=16cm  sweat.gif

it is just too small sleep.gif
i wonder what can we put inside that hand carry bag  laugh.gif

Oh cmon, nobody care about those rules.

My baggage exceed those dimensions all the time and nobody check. Just make sure your luggage is not that big until you cannot fit inside the overhead compartment and they also said the max weight allowed is 7kg but mine is always like 15-18kg. I have flown many times like that without any problems on MAS, SQ and Emirates.

Emirates is also to be very lenient on excess baggage for students. One of my friends actually checked in 38kg of baggage.

Anybody did their visa recently? I need to renew mine.

How long did they take to process it and for you to get your visa?

Is the cost now really rm600+?

Did mine 3 weeks ago at VFS.
Fee RM578 payable to British High Commission plus RM50 payable to VFS Sdn Bhd.

Took 2 days only to process my application. Check out VFS-UK

Hi,
did you submit the evidence of accommodation?

I will be staying in a private accommodation so was wondering what do I need to prove that.

That's not the worse yet because I dont give a damn if they use their own stuff without washing.

Those I met used my stuff and just left it there for days without washing. Later I found out they wont wash your stuff no matter how much time you gave them so in the end I put all my stuff in my room and only took it out when I want to use them.

You should see how much stuff the cleaner had to throw away after one year. They would rather use other people's stuff or just buy new ones then washing up their used utensils.

I had already lost count of the number of moulding shit left in pots, bowls and pans in my first year.

UK textbooks are expensive.

Anyone know where is the best place to get the widest range of textbooks in KL? or preferably in JB?

text book for what field/course exactly?

i usually shop using amazon.co.uk. lotsa 2nd hand books. i bought most of my reference books online. cheap, especially when near christmas.

I need management books.

No matter how cheap they are, they are still alot more expensive then Malaysia.

Amazon marketplace books are on average 20pds per book or alot more if the book is not a popular one. And for unpopular books, you cannot find them on ebay as well so even worse.

You're referring to the NX2 card, issued by the National Express (think Transnasional etc, but with up to date and clean and on-time coaches). It gives you up to 33% discount on the National Express coaches. It has nothing to do with your university.

Personally I just use my Young Person's Railcard and move around by train.

But it'll be a lot cheaper by bus right?

Yes it'll be alot cheaper but depending on where you are going the journey could take a very long time. In Malaysia, our coaches are definitely alot faster. For eg, a 4hr coach journey in Malaysia could take up to 8-9hrs or more in the UK because of the countless stops they make and the waiting and changing of coaches involved.

The NX2 card for me is useless because most of the times it only give you up to 10-15% off. There are plenty of National Express promotional codes floating around that give you 10-20% off so I dont bother with the NX2 card. A railcard can save you alot more and is more useful imho.

For SIA, is it ok if I carry one laptop bag, one carry-on luggage bag and one handbag? They wouldn't weigh the laptop, rite?
*
Yes in the first place your laptop is allowed.

And they wont weigh any of your carry-on.

Let me put this into perspective for people who keep on asking the same questions and the people who keep confusing others.

The one hand carry rule and the baggage size rule only applies to people leaving from/or transferring/transiting from a UK airport.

If you are leaving from KLIA, you need to remove any liquid/gels products from your hand carry or they will be confiscated. If you are leaving from Changi airport then you are allowed to bring liquids/gels but they are subjected to screening by the officers to make sure the contents are not illegal.

And from Qantas's website:
"These new security measures only apply to passengers travelling from London or making a direct connection through London-Heathrow airport. The normal carry-on baggage allowances apply for travel to and from all other cities (outside the UK, USA and from Singapore and Mumbai)."

From Changi airport website:
"Passengers travelling to the UK and India to connect to another flight should note that there are restrictions on the size of hand-carry luggage (for the UK only) and the carriage of liquids, gels and aerosols (for UK and India) in hand-carry luggage when departing from airports in the UK and India."
