Transferring to Imperial, London or some university closer to the city will increase your cost much further.

Since you ask about transferring credits from UK to Australia, do not expect anything less than 2 years more with the Australian University of your choice.Even if you're a final year bachelor degree student in the UK, they won't allow unit per unit transfer. It makes sense for any university not to allow this because students would just transfer as they like.

If the universities are from the same country then things will be a bit different because they have similar systems.

It is much easier to transfer credits from let's say Uni A to Uni B both based in Australia.

actually, he didnt say he wanna transfer from UK to australia. he was asking if he could transfer between unis in the UK, just like the australian unis allow. biggrin.gif

Yes, the most important thing is passport, student visa, unconditional letter from university, money, book accommodation and some dry food (if you brave enough to bring some)...

erm, winter clothing? now is summer time, you can come here and buy.. medical insurance? i don't think so, as normal medical treatment in uk is free for student. bank account? when you arrive, you can open a uk bank account.

visa u can only do 3 months before your departure date .

Studying in the london Uni is really really expensive ... i went there for my half term and spent a bomb on shopping and lifestyle in 3 days . lolx .

P/S: Suggest u apply for dental insurance . It really is a killer to have your tooth emergencies done here .

erm , winter clothing is quite important in Winter. since u start in september ( if im not wrong ). Its spring time , getting cold about 10~18degrees . but i think it's better if you just buy 1 or 2 clothings (windbreakers ) then head there and buy some more . i think it's cheaper and more variety . For me ,during autumn , i usually just wear a t shirt and a sweater . Quite used to the cold there .

I started a HSBC account in Chinatown , Leicester Square , London . The branch manager is a Malaysian from Ipoh. lolx . hehe . HSBC is quite good cause there are many branch in UK . easy to get service .

P/S : Do a chest x-ray before you come here . Boarding students who are entering to the UK for the 1st time require a chest x-ray that may be done in the airport by the health customs (at least that was what i experienced ) . Suggest you do it here to avoid hassle . And Confirmation of acceptance to the Uni is important too smile.gif Make sure u apply student air ticket to get free 10 kg too .

Not true if you're 18 and above. The last time I went for a dental check-up, NHS only provided 20% of the dental fees and I have to pay the rest of the 80%.

not all dental treatment is covered fully by NHS. that is why you have to pay part of the treatment.

as for typical treatment with your NHS gp/doctor, you will be covered. if you are in england, the most is that you have to pay 7.10pound per item on prescription, 4 pounds something for scotland and totally free of charge in wales.

no. 7.10 per item.

lets say your prescription has 4 boxes of Antibiotic A and 2 tubes of 30gram Cream C, you will have to pay 2 prescription charges i.e. 14.20

not including tuition fees, you may need around 5000pounds for living expenses. you might spend less than that, but it also depends on your location.

There are some way to obtain free prescription, you will need to fill in HC2 form. With HC2 certificate, you will get free prescription. You can get HC2 form from Boots or any gp/hospital.

Self financial is not enough to afford the payment that need to be paid.
Warrantor is needed who are living in the UK?
Or a solvency financial problems that I need to apply?

Whether I can prove that my sister is going to pay all of these and support my financial for my study in the UK? 'they're working at Singapore. and I will move to Singapore from Malaysia before go to UK'

Or any idea that I should apply as a student there?

Thanks a lot!

no warrantor or solvency is required if you are self-funded and is capable to. as long as you declare you are self funded (self funding includes funding by parent/family) and has the proof that their bank have enough money to pay the tuition fee (at least 1 year worth of fees), its fine to get you a student visa.

and yes you will require a student visa.

My family in Malaysia did a FedEx shipment to UK, which cost them around RM592. I received the parcel two weeks ago. Today, I received a letter from FedEx saying that I still owed them GBP56.20 (duty/taxes charges) as follows:

[Value Build Up Details]
Freight Charges - GBP197.25 (but in fact it's only RM592)
VAT Value Adjustment - GBP6.69
Invoice Total - RM500 (exchange rate: 6.3803)
Administration Fee - GBP6.80

Do you think I can ask FedEx to waive this payment because all the stuffs in the shipment are OLD or USED stuffs?

Kindly advise.
