I'm thinking to get SONY HT-RT5. About RM1600 now. I know its old.
Reason for considering this is that it is real 5.1 channel with rear speakers.

Any recommendation for sound bar with real rear speakers and doesn’t run on batteries like B5. Read that battery has life span

Anyone got any idea, how to solve the problem when update firmware for Yamaha soundbar YAS 207 failed, when want to try again, it become like the picture shown.

Now even choose soundbar as speaker, no more sound. Before update, everything fine.

Just ordered the SONY HT-RT5 today at Harvey Norman. Tested the SONY HT-CT800 and Yamaha YAS-207 also before making the order. For the price range, I felt it's the best bang for you buck as you get 5.1 and 550w. From the demos played, in my opinion the HT-RT5 has the best sound quality among the three. Harvey Norman is having a raya offer for the HT-RT5 at RM 1733, CT 800 at RM 1299 and YAS-207 at RM1508.

The only setback of HT-RT5 is that it doesn’t have HDR pass though. If you use ARC or Optical, you will only get the standard decoding like compressed DD and DTS. Not the loss less. That is what i read

Where did you read that bro? I checked the reviews and specs, for HDMI ARC pass through there's 4k and DTS HD. However, if you use optical it's just standard DTS, but that applies to all soundbars.

yesterday walking around best denki and saw the samsung latest hw-n650.
its game sound mode good in making the soundstage wider thanks to its extra tweeter firing thru flute chamber. built quality is excellent but the price is unrealistic, 2.4k is too much. only worth if it is under 1.5k.

(update: lazada selling this at 2k, but still expensive)

its little brother hw-n550 ntg special, also great built quality but doesn't sound as good as hw-n650.

IMO you might as well aim for proper Atmos since virtual Atmos is practically BS anyway.

atmos soundbar all looks so bulky...defeat the purpose being soundbar already...

Just hook up my old 2.1 Bluetooth speaker. I think it is good enough for me now. Temporary not going to look any soundbar as good one still freaking expensive to me.

At least I am not using TV speaker already. tongue.gif

Wow, you watching 4K HDR content and dont need surround sound.
I think i have to hold my purchase too, due to price point for decent soundbar is too much and classical sound sound system is not approved by FC.
I am using my Aego 2.1 to headphone out of TV.

You can get decent soundbar for around 1-1.5k if that price is ok.
