time to add subwoofer.

After using Phillips Fidelio B5 for few months, am very happy with it. Sound is good, the subwoofer provide more oomph, and best thing is the speaker is detachable and Walla, now you get a decent 5.1 surround channel. It also detect Netflix and my HM sound formats

Only downside is when connecting via ARC to TV, the volume level is not same i.e. at TV around 20, but the speaker around 30 (despite u already turn to 0 for both)

Really impressed with YAS-207 DTS Virtual:X.
Didn’t expect the soundstage to sound this expansive and immersive coming from a small soundbar nonetheless.
Gladiator 4K beginning battle scene was amazing.

Anyone know where can have audition on JBL Bar 5.1?

That's fast, got mine for 1,599 at HN but with 1+2 yrs warranty and free Belkin 4 socket surge protector.

It seems my problem was not the HDMI cable. I have a very strange problem.

I disconnect all other HDMI connection except the HDMI 3 (ARC) to YAS-107 and reboot the TV.
The TV managed to detect the soundbar. Once I plugs in any other HDMI connection, the soundbar will be gone. Even if I plug into the soundbar HDMI in also, the sound bar will be disconnected.

I'm not sure what to do now.


***UPDATE : Found the root cause for the ARC problem. The HyppTV is messing up the Sony TV ARC. The workaround is to use an HDMI cable without the CEC (pin 13). I managed to bend and removed pin 13 from a cheapo HDMI cable and the soundbar ARC is functioning as intended. Alternatively a non headache solution, get a HDMI-to-DVI then DVI-to-HDMI converter which will remove the CEC.

read many reviews on Polk audio (with many complain on the popping sound from surrounding speakers & subwoofer, but mostly positive on the sound) but hardly find any review on the xiaomi soundbar.

Anyone care to give input?

if you are coming from aego-m, i am afraid soundbar couldn't satisfy you with sound quality.

how about look into 2.1 setup like q acoustic bt3 + any active subwoofer?

bsa12, I am in similar situation as you. I'm still using Aego 2.1, itchy wanna try surround sound... But FC don't like wire running around the living room, hence I'm looking for soundbar with wireless surround rear speaker too... I'm also looking at the XiaoMi soundbar if it is good.

This setup won't decode dolby and dts for minimum.

then rely on the player to decode dolby and dts to pcm.

for movie, some soundbar still can handle and not that bad la...

if you looking for wireless surround, maybe you could look at JBL 5.1 or philips B5 too

xiaomi soundbar havent listen before...no place to test.

it looks like a facelift in appearance, doesn't mention any significant improvement other than dual bt connection.

yas 107 looks nicer to me...haha
