I'm thinking to get SONY HT-RT5. About RM1600 now. I know its old. Reason for considering this is that it is real 5.1 channel with rear speakers.
Any recommendation for sound bar with real rear speakers and doesn’t run on batteries like B5. Read that battery has life span

QUOTE(Lancc @ Jul 4 2018, 01:22 AM) Just ordered the SONY HT-RT5 today at Harvey Norman. Tested the SONY HT-CT800 and Yamaha YAS-207 also before making the order. For the price range, I felt it's the best bang for you buck as you get 5.1 and 550w. From the demos played, in my opinion the HT-RT5 has the best sound quality among the three. Harvey Norman is having a raya offer for the HT-RT5 at RM 1733, CT 800 at RM 1299 and YAS-207 at RM1508. The only setback of HT-RT5 is that it doesn’t have HDR pass though. If you use ARC or Optical, you will only get the standard decoding like compressed DD and DTS. Not the loss less. That is what i read

QUOTE(Lancc @ Jul 6 2018, 03:05 AM) Where did you read that bro? I checked the reviews and specs, for HDMI ARC pass through there's 4k and DTS HD. However, if you use optical it's just standard DTS, but that applies to all soundbars. Bro. I even called Sony to ask. There 4k but not 4k HDR from soundbar

QUOTE(doggmeister @ Jul 23 2018, 11:56 AM) it creates a 3d sound effect but mostly in front of you, so you get some sense of surround but its not the same, good enough for me though, the trade off between wire clutter and surround sound is tough for me, but for the price this was a good compromise Another one in consideration for me is Sony HT-RT5, just restocked RM1.6K, my dealer told me Yesterday. Just that it doesn't has a HDR pass though so am now considering Yamaha. Was also considering Polk Magnifi SR, but at 3.2K was too expensive for a around bar. Both has rear speakers.

QUOTE(aressandro10 @ Sep 12 2018, 02:49 PM) What do you guys think of JBL BAR 5.1 ? at rm3800..the price aint cheep.. but truly wireless real surround is significant advantage. Yupp i personally prefer real 5.1 speakers surround. But not too keen with batteries. So i went with HT-RT5

QUOTE(aressandro10 @ Oct 18 2018, 04:20 PM) Any comment about RT5. ? Does it comes with calibration mic ? Yes. Come with Cal mic. I find the volume too soft on Netflix. Some movies is ok. I don’t get good front sound separation. Probably becos the Center and front surround is too near to each other. I don’t feel enclosed either. So with this 5.1 channel already not really satisfied, I wonder how those single Soundbar feels like. Coming from a HT Marantz and Wharfedale, I’m disappointed. But no choice since I moved from landed to condo. A full HT would have shaken my neighbours.
