Have you ever stayed with someone that stinks so badly that people can recognise you from smell alone ?
How about someone with a few kg of leftovers under their bed ?
Shoes/slippers are good for public toilets, streets and room too. The same pair BTW.
Or clothing cupboard that smells of piss, heck the entire place smells of piss.

Dirty usually means a whole different level when it comes to a certain group of people.
As dirty as some Malaysian and Singaporean may be, I've not met anyone who qualify in the above 4 criteria.

Fish smell is still acceptable.
Faeces smell however...
What I meant is that person stinks like shit so much that my friend who's staying in the same unit starting smelling like shit too.

I'm a realist, but most importantly, I'm not a hypocrite.
I would rather stay with an educated Malaysian regardless of race than a construction worker fresh from a village in Bangladesh.
My personal experience tell me there would be a lesser chance of hygiene problems if I stayed with the former.

How about a less educated Malaysian construction worker with mud patches on the boots, dust all over the shirt and smell of sweat at the end of the of day, will I be discriminated against by fellow highly educated countrymen?

So regret never study good good in when in school. Now people look at me down always say from kampung. cry.gif

For job application in Malaysia, we include our name, address and telephone number on the top of the resume. For job application in Singapore, is it OK to include our Malaysia contact details? Would that caused the resume to be flushed straight to the 'rejected' side?

Well, it's highly possible that they may not contact you if you include Malaysia contacts. Why? It's because some Malaysians and other foreigners like Philippines and India who are already in Singapore are looking for a job there. So, they prefer calling Malaysians or other foreigners who are now in Singapore for easier and faster interviews.

Yes, you need to work very hard to get a job there because many people including Singaporeans are fighting for "rice".

Coming back dirty, muddy, sweaty and so on is normal.
It's what you do that matters. Eg: If they bath once a week vs they bath after coming back from work.

Would you mind staying with a construction worker like that ?
My tolerance level is about the same as yours too.

You are spot on!!! Don't be a self righteous troll like alascuntbunny.

If that's your opinion, then no fear stating your opinion. There will always be impotent hypocrites trying to feel important on their high horse, trying to infer that your opinion doesn't match their fake morality. You can plainly see that all the "personal experiences" he posts are fake and are merely attention-seeking attempts to mislead newbies so that he can entertain himself at their expense.

I worked with them closely so I guess I don't mind. Btw, most construction workers stay in dormitory provided their company. They don't and can't rent room because they don't have work pass. So, I don't know where to find a construction worker to be room mate or house mate.

So if most construction workers already have accommodation then there's nothing to worry about.

BTW, not wanting to stay together =/= discriminating against.
I wouldn't like to stay with someone who's an expert drummer but practices all night long. That doesn't mean I can't have a sense of respect towards his tenacity.

If you did not stay with one, where comes your "personal experience" regarding construction worker? Based on your perspective that they are worse off than educated people? Judging the book by the cover NTU taught you yeah?

I live with one until today, only finish primary school, come from a rural area. No hygiene problem. I guess when he started working most people think of him the way you do. Dirty, smelly, uneducated and uncivilised. Since young I have being hearing with all this "study hard if not you end up working as janitor and labourer", but the teachers don't know some of the blue collar worker don't even have the chance to study because their family can't afford it. And so they breed people like you looking down workers and you trying to pass on this "thought-you-are-an-elite" kind of thinking.

Not wanting to stay is a form of discriminating. Put it in a nice way is your preference, good way to comfort yourself, put it in another way is discrimination. Discriminate against the smell, discriminate against the loud practice.

So you stayed with a Bangladeshi construction worker when you were young until today ?

Note that I did not mention anything about Malaysian construction workers nor do I have anything against them.
It's just that everyone suddenly zeroed in on the "construction worker" part and started the personal flaming and trolling with their holier than thou mentality and hypocrisy.
In fact you're now judging the book by the cover when you assumed that I was a "elitist".
Did you know that I've close relatives who're once janitors ? I've nothing but respect for them, not to mention I once lived with them too.

My bad experiences was with a different group of people(who come from a certain location far from Malaysia/SG) and I would do anything to avoid being that position again.
I know some of their culture, and I would rather not deal with it. Eg: Wearing shoes inside. This doesn't mean I look down towards them, in fact some of them are extremely brilliant in what they do.

Some people don't really like to live with their parents/parents in law for the rest of their live. Is that discrimination ?
Some people don't like to live with smokers because they have asthma. Is that discrimination ?
If you put it that way, you discriminate every single day too.

I saw many Singaporean employers and headhunters are looking for engineers with diploma/Nitec only. And not many engineering positions, mostly technicians. Anyone knows the reason behind?

SG is not a particularly happy place for freshies or (relatively) inexperienced hires now thanks to high rental, housing and car prices and almost-at-capacity public transport.

Cause they are willing to work more, and they have lower entry pay than engineers with degree.

They need more technicians cause mostly those technical work like wiring, wielding, and etc , technicians are better.. and again, pay is lower.

Consider a fresh grad engineer and technician, they will go for technicians. With the entry salary of a fresh grad with degree they can hire a 2-3 experience technicians. That's why now companies are trying to cut down on engineers. They also do not mind to hire someone with a diploma with many years of experience with the title engineer.

In engineering, experience is far more important than the paper. That's why sometimes you can see diploma holders getting an engineer post.

So you discriminating against certain race then? Racist? Wikipedia quote for you:

Discrimination is the prejudicial and/or distinguishing treatment of an individual based on their actual or perceived membership in a certain group or category, "in a way that is worse than the way people are usually treated."

Your last 2 question, yes, they are discriminating the other groups. Similarly, I am too in certain way.

You are behaving like a hypocrite too by saying you not discriminating them, but still saying bad things about their smell, behaviour and culture.

Hello, judging a book by its cover mean you judge a person based on appearance. In your case, condemn the whole race for some example you had. After reading few posts of yours, that is not judging a book by its cover, its like reading a page of the book and judging it.

Nah I know you are not an elite as you finding room mates to share the cost of your room. So, don't act like one and saying workers are worse off than educated people like you. Your boss will see you as worker like the way you see Bangla if you believe in karma. Don't believe? Look at the pay your boss or client for your photography job they paying you. If an elite with high pay, you won't be finding room mate here.

1. Who I choose to stay with is my personal choice.
My choice is simple.
I do not want to stay with someone who has recently arrive from a rural location with relatively bad sanitation.
http://www.socialprogressimperative.org/da...r10,idr11,idr12
Why ? Because there is a chance it will take a while for them to get used to better sanitation. That and my own personal experience.
You say they're clean. Back it up.
But unless you've a sample size bigger than that research, there's no point arguing that they do not have any cleanliness issues compared to regular Sg/My.

---

2. If you discriminate too by your own definition... Why do you have an issue when others are doing it ?

Hypocritical snob

---

3.
QUOTE

Seriously ? You're arguing on this ? I can't even....
Either way, point proven. You judge people without knowing jack shit about them.

Discriminating judgemental hypocrite

---

4. Another personal attack ? First on their education and now on their income ? Not like I've any problems at all with that.
Aren't you becoming the same exact thing you despise ? What gives you the right to judge people you don't even know about anyway ?
Heck, at least I've done research and several personal experience to back my decision/preference which will affect the quality of my household hygiene.

From what you say, you believe that elite has the right to discriminate too ? So you judge that I'm not an elite so I can't discriminate ?

This is a textbook definition of an
Insecure elitist

---

Seriously, did you ever try to stop and read whatever you type before posting them?
Because you're accusing people of the characteristics .... that you show in even greater magnitude in the same post !!!
