Me too. I told them i wanted to cancelled my card, SCB called back and offered me GST waiver + RM50 cash.
*
Do not need to cancel. I have been using this card for 4/5 years. Every year before the GST charge, I will call them to ask for RM100 or RM150. I don't even need to tell them that I want cancel. They will give the amount.

Yes. Every year before the GST charge, I will call them, tell them that GST going to charge me. Then ask them to give me cash to waive the GST. If they say give me RM50, I will ask for more, because I tell them that I will not earn any from the RM50. Then ask for RM100 or RM150.
After deduct the RM50 GST, I still earn RM50 or RM100.

I don't really spend much on this card. I pay RM150 monthly for my medical insurance. Other than this, I only use this card after my 'OCBC Ti' and 'UOB One' hit the cash back maximum cap. In average, ~RM8k a year.

which means for those who spend more than rm8k a year, you should request more than rm150 of free cash from standard chartered before gst charge. brows.gif laugh.gif

I am not sure how is their policy. But, in my opinion, the GST definitely can be waived. Although it doesn't auto waive, but at least we don't need to beg for it. You just need to be a bit thick-skinned to ask for >RM50.

I recalled that last time when I tried to terminate the card, I called to the CS and made such request, they asked the reason and I said GST is going to impose soon, plus I seldom use the card, told them to refer the transaction history. They proceed without asking me to keep the card.

Few days later, the CS called and offered me RM100. RM50 to offset the GST, and another RM50 for pocket money, and told me to keep the card for another 6 months. Well, why not? blush.gif

why not you request for the cash (instead of waiting for the cs to offer). biggrin.gif

anyway, i am cancelling my scb business plat since my 0% 6 months bt with them just over.
most probably will cancel after i receive my rm300 parkson vouchers. nod.gif

i will ask for money first and see whether they will give me free money or not.
since i want to cancel it anyway, no harm trying, even if i don't get any, right? laugh.gif
