My card's gonna be due next month. I'm thinking to cancel it since I don't use it much and I have two supps under my principal, so I'm worried I'll be charged a lot more.

May I ask when is the best time to call and cancel? Do they normally offer waiver and give you anything if you choose to keep it? Thanks!

Possible, no penalty. Do check if there is any installment plan or auto-debit tied to the card.

Call the SCB CS hotline during working hours.... they "may" offer some sort of retention offer. Please share the offer you receive.

I called them and they said 8 weeks after promotion ended. Means first week of Jan 2014. Gotta wait another week before calling them again.

Honestly, I wonder if anyone keeps this card after getting the initial cashbacks for dining/retail offers.
Sometimes, I do see that SCB card gives you additional % during makan and shopping.

Same boat as you, my 15% just expired. Now going to keep in the drawer and just use back my UOB Card for petrol rebate. Only 5% and capped at RM500, but its almost enough for both me and the Mrs.

Me too. I told them i wanted to cancelled my card, SCB called back and offered me GST waiver + RM50 cash.

I decided to keep the card and will terminate it after enjoying that RM50

just make sure there is no T&C for the Cash Back like usage / cannot cancel within x-mths

I'm planning to cancel my card tomorrow. The gov tax just came in. Hardly use this card now.

Update: Just called to cancel the card. CS went ahead with it. She said the cc dept will call me in 5 business days.
