Me too. I told them i wanted to cancelled my card, SCB called back and offered me GST waiver + RM50 cash.

Do not need to cancel. I have been using this card for 4/5 years. Every year before the GST charge, I will call them to ask for RM100 or RM150. I don't even need to tell them that I want cancel. They will give the amount.

You mean you call up and just ask form RM100/150 upfront ?
*
Yes. Every year before the GST charge, I will call them, tell them that GST going to charge me. Then ask them to give me cash to waive the GST. If they say give me RM50, I will ask for more, because I tell them that I will not earn any from the RM50. Then ask for RM100 or RM150.
After deduct the RM50 GST, I still earn RM50 or RM100.

Could it be you spend heavily with the card?

I don't really spend much on this card. I pay RM150 monthly for my medical insurance. Other than this, I only use this card after my 'OCBC Ti' and 'UOB One' hit the cash back maximum cap. In average, ~RM8k a year.

I am not sure how is their policy. But, in my opinion, the GST definitely can be waived. Although it doesn't auto waive, but at least we don't need to beg for it. You just need to be a bit thick-skinned to ask for >RM50.

How come I don't see any discussion on Gold CashBack MasterCard? The effective cash back rate is ~3%, seems very good.

The cash back card.
The earned cash back is not credit into your card automatically, you need manually redeem them.

SCB seem to be ok to waive for my previous SCB cards (which is with lesser benefits though).
This year is my 1st year using SCB Gold Cash-Back

I always have no problem getting annual fee waived for my SCB Gold. But now I am thinking to apply SCB Gold CashBack.
