Sis, what you mentioned is true BUT if you have an Alliance Visa Infinite, you may not want to use it overseas if you can qualify for the Maybank Visa Infinite.

I have shown you guys in my article The Best Credit Cards for Overseas Transactions that my Alliance Bank Visa Infinite foreign currency exchange rate/fee is amongst the highest. If not for the FREE UNLIMITED entries to airport lounges with the Alliance Visa Infinite, I might not have applied for it. But since I have PB with Alliance Bank, I don't need to spend a sen with my ABB VI to get the annual fee waived.

Sifus..I read lots of recommendation on Maybank2Cards, is it the one which they offered 2 cards, ie. Visa and American Express? what are the major difference between those 2?

Oh btw, Please recommend for me, this is my first CC biggrin.gif
I'm a foreigner, live and work in malaysia. Maybank contacted me and mentioned: for foreigner, the min salary will be 3k/month. Not sure about other bank though..

1. Annual Income: RM 40k - 50K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes (it would be the best, wouldn't it)

3. Card required for: online purchase, and might need to use it overseas (mostly indonesia); please advise what it'd be best for

4. Existing credit cards if any: Nil

5. Looking at CC from: Mainly Maybank or any other bank (had bad experience with CIMB customer service, but let's try CIMB too)

6. Others: Might use it 0 - 3 times in month

the GST, all bank + all type of CC applied right? Same amount, i.e. RM50/year?

Thanks in advance..

if you use for online purchase and overseas in indonesia, you may try to sign up cimb cash rebate platinum mastercard (since you would still give cimb another try). apply through here for the free gift: http://www.rakuten.com.my/event/cimb/apply...nner_cimb-apply

as for mbb2cards, yes it's a combination of either amex&master or amex&visa. the benefits are on the amex card (5%+5x tp on weekends; 5x tp on weekdays). the master/visa is basically as a spare card just in case amex is not accepted by the merchant.

as for gst, yes, all banks and types of cc bear the same gst rm50/year.

hi all,

seems like a lot of you use maybank's 2 cards - but what about for overseas spend (maybank's Amex is 2.5% right?)

what card do you guys use for places that don't accept amex? not the other card that comes with maybank's 2 cards right since it basically earns you nothing.

from what I understand, only OCBC titanium offers uncapped cashback at 1%?

for places that doesn't accept amex, can use hlb wise 10%, uob one 5%, citibank pcb 5%, aeon watami 3%.

besides ocbc titanium, hlb essential also offers the same 1% unlimited cash back.

thanks for your reply!

so the highest unlimited cashback for any card in malaysia now is 1%?

If I plan to buy a big ticket item, say RM10k in a single transaction at a merchant that does not accept AMEX, and does not fall under any of the "categories" (why do they do that? so confusing)... my only logical option would be to use a card that has highest unlimited cashback right?

so if 1%, then at least I get RM100 back instead of measly "capped" RM50........

edit: seems like OCBC world mastercard offers *slightly* higher cashback @ 1.2%... why isn't this card as popular? is there something wrong with it?

if you have a single transaction of rm5k (max), you may consider using aeon watami cc to get rm150 cb.

ocbc world mastercard not that popular mainly because it's still new and because of its annual fee. ocbc titanium is free for life.

thanks for the information guys.

I checked with a maybank sales guy today and he said if you deposit rm30k (edit: into F.D.) they will issue maybank visa infinite to you no questions asked. I wonder how true this is... seems a bit low? lol

But the VI doesn't offer cash back, only 2 X Treat Points for local transactions.

We have members who has reported that they pledge FD to get cards, note that by this your card will have validity of 1 year only and credit limit of your equivalent FD

I can say that i pledge 40k fd for my VI. Thats the CL i got. So you are almost right biggrin.gif But i believe with time goes by, the requirement will drop. Maybe in a few years, we will have VI with 10-20k CL icon_rolleyes.gif

why u cut Maybank2Kard? It is accepted at major electrical outlets for installments.

I can only think of HLB Wise, 10% rebate but you need to control you transactions to be at least 10 times (each time minimum RM50 a month to qualify.

Choose petrol and grocery, mobile is 'free' category.

You need a combination of cards to maximize your potential... And sad to say you have cancelled one of them. The best combination for you would be MBB2 + Hong Leong Wise Card. Your transaction on petrol, grocery and mobile could potentially earn you RM 100/ month but you have to make sure you swipe at least 10 transactions of RM 50 or more in order to get the rebate.

currently my mbb petronas gold visa is good for petrol, 8x tp on weekends and 5x on weekday. other transaction rm1 per point.

last time mbb 2 kad only rm1 per 1 tp, since i have my petronas gold 1st so i cancel my dual card.

hlbb wise card need annual fee of 160 for gold, which cant waive it.

normally i go groceries shop for milk powder twice per month , 1 transaction about rm300 more o less. but if i use hlb wise card, need to use 10 time, then i have to go shop more frequent than usual.

mbb 2 kard amex weekdays 5 TP, weekend 5 TP + 5% rebate, unless you tell me your petrol station doesn't accept amex.

we can only suggest and usually you want cash back means you need to meet certain criteria so its all up to you.

Only other card which is less hassle is Aeon Watami but you need to accumulate RM3k spending within 3 months to entitle for 3% rebate.

You may try to develop this spending habit lar
Petrol once a week RM75 = 4 transactions
Grocery once a week RM 150 and try to split bills = min.4 transactions
Mobile RM200 = 2 transactions

This way, you have just earned RM100 of easy money from your 10 transactions of RM 1100 rclxms.gif

Hi, my annual income is currently RM30K. Free annual fee is possible. I hope to get petrol rebate. Currently I only have UOB One Card.

Please recommend me other credit card. Thanks!
