From the thread i read it seems wise card not good to pay utilities, so my plan for MBB amex is to use it for weekend petrol and maybe my TNB bills.  Question is how to pay TNB on weekend with MBB amex?
*
you may choose amex to pay tnb bills via your m2u account during weekends to earn that 5%+5x points. nod.gif

For wise card i plan to take mobile + dining + either grocery or dept.  You mention something bout buy aeon voucher to qualify for 10% cash back.  Is that under dept or grocery option?  I very much like that, I like to buy metrojaya/isetan and parkson voucher too.  But grocery i usually shop at either jusco or big c at mid valley, or NSK at kuchai lama or my neighbourhood market Sri Kota mart.  I work in KLCC, so very close to maxis tower.  You mention about paying all maxis bills at the kiosk is best way?  Since i have like close to RM300 for maxis (150 handphone and 150 home fibre), so i can make like 6x payments of RM50 at the maxis kiosk every month?  The online easypay is not qualified for home fibre rebate right? So kiosk is the way to go?

Why not much ppl choose dining for wise card? I go pub a lot, sometimes dine around restaurant in KLCC for lunch.  I suppose that is best category for me.  Is there only specific restaurants that qualify?  Does pub qualify?  Hope you can help shed some light.

Last but not least, should i go for wise gold or platinum?  What difference?
*
it is better for you to choose departmental since you like metrojaya/parkson/aeon.

yes, you may split the bills and pay at maxis kiosk to easily qualify for the 10% cash back. however, to avoid being suspicious, it is not recommended that you pay rm50 for six times in a row on the same day itself. it is more advisable that you pay with different amount on different days.

not many choosing dining because some other cc offering dining at better discount rate ~25% at selected restaurants. there is no specific restaurants that qualify for the dining option, just as long as they are under mcc 5811 (caterers), mcc 5812 (eating places and restaurants), mcc 5814 (fast food restaurants). pub does not qualify since it is under mcc 5813 (drinking places - alcoholic beverages, bars, taverns, cocktail lounges, nightclubs and discotheques).

since gold and platinum shares the same features of 10% cash back with maximum capped of rm100, it is more recommended that you choose gold since the annual fee is lower.

since ocbc no more 5% rebate.. i am planning to get another card to replace it.. any recommendation?

1. Annual Income: RM80k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: Petrol, Bill Payment, Cash Back/Rebate, dinning

4. Existing credit cards if any: ocbc titanum, scb platinum, citibank platinum

5. Looking at CC from: maybank2cards, uob one

6. Others: Dining, Movie
*
yes, maybank2cards and uob one are the best option for cash back on petrol and bill payments.

another one you may consider aeon watami visa classic card.

I have a huge sum of utilities bill to pay.. major sum goes to mbb amex, was wonder is there any better option?

1. Annual Income: 100k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No

3. Card required for: Prefer good cash rebate than mbb amex 5x tp.

4. Existing credit cards if any: OCBC (Maxed out)(Going to stop soon). HLB Wise (Maxed out). UOB One (Petrol, Maxed out). MBB2AMEX on Utilities

5. Looking at CC from: Missed out RHB Visa Signature which give 5% unlimited for online transaction sad.gif

6. Others: Recommendation pls smile.gif
*
since you are already using ocbc titanium, hlb wise, uob one, and mbb2cards amex, the next choice would be the post i mentioned above.
aeon watami 3% rebate for every other transactions (outside of watami & except petrol).
if your petrol cash rebate 5% is not enough, you may also consider citibank cash back platinum (which offers the features 95% similar to uob one card).

with your annual income of 36k-60k you are now actively using 7 cards (including mbb2cards)?
i think you need to cancel at least one cc before you could apply for another. hmm.gif

how do you cancel your uob one card when you have yet to clear the outstanding? blink.gif
after settling your issue with uob, you may check out mbb2cards gold for 5% rebate (+5x tp) on all weekends expenses (at places that accept amex).

4 years ago, I learned a lot from this forum, and was happy with my combination of credit cards. Until the OCBC Titanium changing to 1% unlimited. I am now thinking to plan again the use of credit cards.

1. Annual Income: RM36K to RM60K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: Petrol (Mobil/Esso/Petron):~RM450, Maxis bill:RM150, dining:~RM200-400, groceries, utilities bill

4. Existing credit cards:
(1) OCBC Titanium for dining, groceries, and utilities bill,
(2) UOB One for petrol,
(3) Standard Chartered Visa Gold for any expenses if OCBC and UOB exceed the monthly cash back cap,
(4) CitiBank AirAsia for TGV

5. Looking at CC from: MayBank 2 Card, HLB MACH, or other suggestion to replace my current OCBC Titanium

6. Others: It's been some time that I have not study about credit cards. I think I need to revise it.
*
i would suggest you to go for maybank2cards (amex 5% on weekends monthly capped at rm50) and aeon watami (3% quarterly capped at rm150), then cancel your standard chartered visa gold. smile.gif

4. Existing credit cards if any: None

5. Looking at CC from: Any with that suit me. For now im doing everything by cash, and if payment need via card, i use my MBB debit card.
*
1) mbb2amex - 5% on everything (including petrol) if spend on weekends
2) uob one card - 5% on petrol (everyday)
3) citibank cb platinum - 5% on petrol (everyday)
4) hlb wise - 10% on petrol (everyday) - has strict t&c

thanks..! seems 1 is good since no annual fee, but not sure bout 2.. i'll pass 3 and 4..
*
yes, 1 is definitely a must-have cc for you.
but the 5% is only for weekends transactions.
for 2, the annual fee need to call and waive.
and not 100% will success waiving it.

or if you don't mind lower cash back, you can go for ocbc titanium cc.
1% on everything and everyday including petrol.

Still jumping around these 2 company. Would like to have an in depth comparison. Cash back, reward point and offers when going shopping and dining.

i would suggest you to go for mbb2amex. if you were mostly doing your groceries, dining, shopping, movies, petrol on weekends, that would be even better.

wow, thank you for such a detailed reply. So factoring in all the benefits, MB2K would be better? I've looked around the Internet and most are stating MB2K to be the best choice. But my colleagues however suggest that citibank is better with their promotions and offers, keeping me right at the fence at the moment. Thank you again for your time and insight.

yes, i do have the same idea with fly126 regarding his explanation on mbb2amex vs citibank. nod.gif
you may sign up for ocbc titanium as a back up too after mbb2amex.

What's the best general use supplementary card? Since Maybank2 card's RM50 weekend rebate is shared with principle.

OCBC Ti no longer applies. I believe UOB also shared right? Thoughts?
*
can opt for aeon watami quarterly 3% cash back (except petrol) min rm3k expenses and max rm5k expenses per quarter. good for both principle and supplementary cc.

Please fill items below and then only post so that we are able to recommend you a credit card based on your needs and qualifications

1. Annual Income: RM 30 - 36 k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes. If possible.

3. Card required for: Petrol, Telco, Dinning, Insurance (Prefer: Cashback)
4. Existing credit cards if any: OCBC-TMC

5. Looking at CC from: Any

6. Others: Preferable cash back almost same with OCBC-TMC

My monthly usage approximately RM500-1000 range depends.

Most of the usage on petrol roughly RM200-300. Telco RM 200. Dining Rm50-100 (Sometimes don't have)
Insurance RM130 per month and another is annually RM2700.

Need a replacement roughly.. Going cancel my TMC soon due to 1%  sweat.gif  vmad.gif  mad.gif
*
the best option for you is maybank2cards amex 5% cb + 5x tp on weekends expenses. on weekdays 5x tp only but also equivalent to 2% cb. for insurance and government related 2x tp.
