HLB Wise, 10% rebate capped RM100/month

Aeon Watami, 3% rebate capped RM150/3 months.

Others just use Amex to pay to get 5x treat points and 5% rebate (RM50/month)

No, I Mean is You Only can Convert Your Credit Card's Purchase to Easy Payment Plan from Your Card Issuer Bank (Not with Other Banks) ... sweat.gif
(ie, like You used Your CIMB CC to Purchase Something You Only Need to Call CIMB to Convert IT to EPP...)

$30,000 is Gross Income of a Year... As Long Your EPF Deduction more than $275 = Your Salary $2500/Month Sudah Boleh for You to Apply MBB 2Cards... smile.gif

1. Annual Income: Between RM40K to RM70K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must if possible. Is RM90 yearly fee cheap or expensive for both visa and mastercard?

3. Card required for: Mostly for overseas use and bill payment use. Especially to purchase overseas plane tickets. If plane cancel can get refund. Purchase via debit card, if plane cancel, money burned. I only use the card like 2-3 times a year, because of no other method of payment.

4. Existing credit cards if any: Bank Islam Visa Debit.

5. Looking at CC from: I don't mind getting MAS Enrich points or Emirates Skyward points.

6. Others: Please be specific. Need to get a visa and mastercard credit card.

What are my options?

Best entry level air miles card - Maybank2Kard

The Amex is accepted by both MAS and Emirates, earning 5 X Treat Points and if it is on weekend 5% off (Capped RM50 per month)

The conversion from Treat Points to Enrich Miles is 7000 TP to 1000 Enrich Miles. Basically earning 1 Enrich Miles with RM1.40 spent.

As the name suggest, it come in pair so you get to choose either Master or Visa to come with AMEX. Most of us just keep the Master / Visa in drawer tongue.gif

Annual fee is waived automatically and only pay RM50 GST for 2 cards per year

maybe 5 years ago, i would say 80% of the shop i frequents accept it. Most petrol station accept it. The difficult 1 is maybe gadget shops where they impose higher charge or some smaller scale shops.

you did say you will only use 2 or 3 times a year which i assumed are for air tickets, i've booked with both emirates & mas for ticket and they accept AMEX on their website.

The usual Alliance / CIMB / HSBC only offer 6000 points to exchange for 1000 Enrich Miles and they only reward you 1 point per RM1 spent. That's 1 Enrich Miles earned with every RM6 spent, Maybank Amex only cost you RM1.40!!

Btw Maybank2card come with another master or visa of your choice, if AMEX not accepted you can always use the Master / Visa as back up. Still gain 1X Treat Point with this card. smile.gif

AMEX has closed its office in Malaysia IINM. My cousin was working with AMEX, got retrenched. I had a friend who had AMEX card. He says that the year AMEX pulled out of Malaysia, there were only 26 people the whole of Malaysia who had AMEX. That is why I'm a bit afraid of AMEX.

No problems with transactions here, problems in US, where weirdly not a lot of places accept AMEX.

This AMEX is by Maybank bro and one of the most popular card in the market. For me this is a must have credit card in Malaysia.

Well if you are not convinced I can only say it's your loss. biggrin.gif

Btw so what if they go under, its not like you put your money with them. You get money from them interest free what? laugh.gif

just to share a quote from master sifu Gen-X's blog @ http://generationsxyz.blogspot.com/2013/12...edit-cards.html

**warning: sarcasm overload cool2.gif **

QUOTE
Some of you may have the impression that the American Express card is not really useful, particularly if you are outside Klang Valley.

Well, most petrol stations now accept AMEX including Petronas, Telekom/Unifi accepts AMEX, TNB accepts AMEX, Astro accepts AMEX, Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines accept AMEX, Maxis/DiGi/Celcom accepts AMEX (mine are all autodebit with AMEX except for one account), Pantai Hospital accepts AMEX, AEON (Jaya Jusco) accepts AMEX. TESCO accepts AMEX and GIANT too.

So unless you are living in the kampung riding your basikal tua (no need Petrol), tanaming jagung (don't need to buy groceries), use kerosene for lighting (no TNB supply), don't watch Premier League or Wah Lai Toi or KPop on Astro, and don't subscribe to Streamyx or Unifi, then maybe you are right, the AMEX is useless, hahaha.

I tell you, not only you young guys who are smart enough to have landed here can benefit from Maybankard 2 AMEX but nowadays you see pakciks, makciks, ah peks and ah sohs flashing their MBB 2 Platinum AMEX cards too, everywhere.

also we have an existing topic with forumers posting frequent updates on which local merchants supporting AMEX (and those that doesnt): https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2819336

cheerz! thumbup.gif
