QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Nov 19 2013, 09:46 PM) Dafuq? I have always thought ND filters are square shaped one LOL I think it's okay for 77mm thread. B+W is way more expensive. Hitech and Lee Big Stopper are heartbreaks. I don't know, but I am hoping I can find 100 bucks or something.Wah, cheapest also RM200 T___T Yeah, some tripods can spread really low haha, but those are expensive. There are some that can be used "upside down", with the camera attached on the bottom QUOTE(Pro3363 @ Nov 19 2013, 10:02 PM) Nice one, 50mm, must be crazy to frame this.QUOTE(piscesguy @ Nov 19 2013, 10:48 PM) HAMAGADDD, her chubby cheeks, so cute!!! |

I own a Lee's big stopper, but it was for seven5 system, those smaller ones as I used to use it with my x100. as expensive as they may be, they still have color cast, I think better to go with the cheaper ones. Nice one, 50mm, must be crazy to frame this. HAMAGADDD, her chubby cheeks, so cute!!! Now i'm saving up for a 20 2.8D for landscape uses, haha, only lenses with smaller than 72mm filter thread can use that =.= EDIT: oh yes about what gerald 7 suggests below, if you want to avoid the troublesome focusing issue with a screw on nd1000. you can try using those screw on variable nd filters, those usually varies from 2 to 9 stops This post has been edited by QiAnG: Nov 19 2013, 11:45 PM |

QUOTE(hkenh @ Nov 19 2013, 09:11 PM) I have the B+W ND1000 circular... for other ND filter its fine to use circular.. not ND1000 because its nearly pitch black. Cant focus, you need to prefocus and precompose before screw in the ND filter. Even at noon. Not really suited for zoom lens. |

Dang! That brand is the most expensive I ever surveyed. Must be a real fun to use for sky and water long exposure. Now i'm saving up for a 20 2.8D for landscape uses, haha, only lenses with smaller than 72mm filter thread can use that =.= QUOTE(gerald7 @ Nov 19 2013, 11:35 PM) I have the B+W ND1000 circular... for other ND filter its fine to use circular.. not ND1000 because its nearly pitch black. But since it can be used even midday, I will not have any problem to screw and rescrew for focus. Usually I always race against the time before the sun rise up and brighten up the environment. Can't get longer than 2 secs. |

Want to ask, I do have a circular variable ND filter but fixed to 52mm diameter.
I remembered I used it before to get long exposure. I was on Aperture Priority, Daylight WB and at f/22, ISO100. The camera suggested for certain shutter for proper exposures. But I still get dark picture, not pitch black but underexposed. How come ya? What I went wrong and what is colour cast too? |

Um, not really sure about your 1st question, what I usually do is expose the camera without filter, lets say at ISO 100, F11 aperture priority, I get 1/500, then I'll set to manual, with same aperture and iso, then reduce my shutter speed down 10 stops if i'm using 10 stop filter.. Thanks, that explained something. So, the camera cannot estimate the proper exposure time properly then, because I didn't used it in manual mode.about color cast, do you notice the wb of your shots were not correct when you're using the nd8 from cokin? that's color cast, stronger nd filters have a more obvious color cast. like your picture turns totally blue after the long exposure. hope this helps That colour cast can be recovered by white balance fixing, right? And how much exposure for a stop? I don't read much about this. I'm thinking to get Fotga ND2-ND400 (8 stops) anyone has a personal experience on it? It's much cheaper.
