That is why I am staying on with TM UniFi  rclxms.gif
In fact I was offered an upgrade from VIP5 to VIP10 with RM30 discount (hence only RM169/month, this offer no longer available) but contract renewed for another 24 months, discount is valid even after contract. And I accepted this upgrade.

I have heard much horror stories with Maxis Fibre like what you mentioned above, and to add to what you said, there have been so much complaints of poor customer service as well.

As I am myself also a Maxis Mobile subscriber (voice & mobile data), I have been getting call from Maxis sales team to take up their fibre service more than 3 times, even when I said I am still on UniFi contract, they still try their way to convince me that the RM500 penalty I have to pay can be offset with their price savings! (Marketing gimmick in fact)  shakehead.gif

Oh btw, while many think that the HyppTV service is useless to them, well, it suits me anyway. I don't really watch TV often, but when I do, watching the free HyppTV channels (well, not really free, it's included in the monthly subscription fee anyway) is good enough - not to mention crystal clear video display from our 6 free to air channels.

Hmm... grey modem... that must be a new one that I have never seen. If you can take a picture of it later, do share it here.

Well, old cable could be an issue, but how old is your cable? (it should be as old as when your apartment/condo was built)

Mine is 11 years but no issues.

if u r on high rise/vdsl line, the copper telephone line might effect ur DSL link.
thats why of the frequent DC.

have them check ur existing copper line for noise or breakage.

remember last time when using telephone line, can hear the noise or crackling noise..thats the issue of copper line..

Hi all sifu, im using tm L7 wireless router. Recently i got a very bad connection with internet, many times i can surf net although my pc are still connected to the wifi, and even worst the router itself will auto reboot make me dc. Been using unifi about 1 year, at first i though was the router overheat issue but i guess im wrong, coz im now put it at a very well air ventilation place on a notebook cooler, then second though is my housemate torrent-ing, so set the qos limit the ul speed to 512kbps but still no help. And when only 1 user connect to the router also will lag + disconnect. Already call tm they say no problem with my line.
Now my questions are:-
1. I suspect the L7 wireless router malfunction, any alternative? Budget rm200
2. I limit the ul speed with qos control, ip range from 192.168.0.100 to 200, and my pc ip set to 192.168.0.2, but it will also limit my speed, i think something wrong?
3. Already set the wifi mode is b/g/n, 20mhz channel 9, still no help, how to check whether is the router problem?
*
since I also want to change router
and also budget 200, why don't you get asus rt-n12hp ?
high antenna, confirmed enough for you to have good wifi signal

else tp link wdr4300, not much different with 1043nd, but got dual band

For those who experience problem accessing internet after certain time using TM Unifi router.
Before you reboot the router to "fix" the problem, try spending a moment to troubleshoot by changing your device to manual DNS setting, e.g. to google public DNS 8.8.8.8

See if you are able to access internet after DNS setting change on your device. In my case, it works if I don't query the router for DNS request.

I noticed this problem with TM Unifi router if your device is configured to use the router as DNS server. e.g. 192.168.0.1 (which is the default DHCP setting). The router seems to have problem serving clients' DNS request after certain period of time.

Best is to disable DHCP on the router, and setup a different DHCP server on your network. I have a second Wifi router in my network (for WIFI roaming in my home) and that serves as the DHCP server to assign google public DNS server to the clients.

Without serving as DNS server, my internet uptime with the TM Unifi router is superb, without speed slowdown and etc even after a long period of time.

A DHCP server can be a network router, or a PC/laptop. Network router is the best since it is mostly turned on 24x7.
If that is not an option, you can setup any PC or laptop to be a DHCP server (the one which mostly stays up & running on your network).

Here is the How-To for Windows machine.

If that is not an option as well, then no choice but you have to spend some money to get a better Unifi-supported router already.

The asus RT-N12HP (2 antenna) vs TL-WR1043ND (3 antenna), asus still better? Have no idea how to check the performance.

I think is the unifi L7 router suck, cant get full signal within 10m, and the Asus router cost around rm209, is it worth to top up from TL-WR1043ND RM145?

Well, since your apartment is over 20 years old, chances are the copper wire in your building itself is as old as your apartment, unless of course you have it changed before.

Check with your apartment management, who is responsible for the copper telephone wires in the entire building. From what I understand, it could very much the responsibility of the building management, NOT TM or TM's contractor. You need to verify who is responsible first as if it is not TM's responsibility, they will not check & replace it.

if not mistaken that 1043ND is 5dBi, and total got 3 antenna, so let say got 15dBi
that asus rt-12hp got 2 9dBi antenna, total 18dBi
but that asus router don't have usb port, not sure you need or not
