Although the Inspiron 14 7000 is not exactly smaller than 13"; if you can afford it, then go for it. Its sort of a Windows "MacBook" (quoted from a fellow forumer haha laugh.gif), which is a good description of what it is. A premium notebook with specs that make sense. And of course, suitable for your usage  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi TJ, thanks for the confirmation, seems like this is the to-go laptop for me. But still I'll consider raymondtong94 suggestion before I make any final decisions.

Thanks a lot for both of u! thumbup.gif

haha, i dont see that as a complain. im just telling the fact why sometimes forumers are being ignored, because some forumers tend to treat us like an ass, like we got paid for replying in the forums. so i hope both of us wont get it wrong either. icon_rolleyes.gif

anyway, good luck on hunting a laptop. icon_rolleyes.gif

PS : i personally like this 'Windows Macbook', the Dell Inspiron 14 7000. you can now feel the premium build quality of an Apple for RM2699.

Preferred Brand
Any, but prefer reputable brands.

Budget
RM1000-rm1300

Usage
Mostly office work (microsoft) n watching movies

Preferred laptop/screen size
14" n slim design
*
Forget about the "slim design" for your budget smile.gif

You don't need discrete GPU for your usage, Intel HD will do fine. As for MS Office, as long as it does not involve heavy Excel (lots and lots of formula / VBA) or Access database, Intel Celeron will do.

Acer
E1-432-29552G50k, Intel 2955U + Intel HD@RM1099, 2GB, 500GB, FreeDOS
E1-470-33214G50s, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1399, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS

Asus
X45A-VX078, Celeron 1000M + Intel HD@RM1199, 2GB, 500GB, FreeDOS, 1 year warranty

Dell
Inspiron 14-3437, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400@RM1399[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), 4-cell; W8SL@RM1549
Inspiron 14-3421, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1399[1.99kg], Win8SL, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 4-cell

Lenovo
G400s, Pentium 2020 + Intel HD@RM1349, 4GB, 500GB, W8

Toshiba
Satellite C800-1022, Pentium 2020M + Intel HD4000@Rm1369, 2GB, 500GB, W8SL, 2 years local warranty

Prices are RSP, negotiable.

Hello folks, I need your help to choose something for me.

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand but God please no Acer and Dell.
2. Budget: RM 5k
3. Usage: Gaming (Guild Wars 2, other latest and retro games)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: either 15 to 17. My concern is 15 is too small for ex-desktop user, hence please give your 2 cents regarding this.

Thank you very much.

nope it isnt. why do you need a touch screen? constant poking the screen will loosen the hinges and most likely in the future, you will have creaky hinge.

Inspiron 14 3421 has lots of different spec at slightly different price range.
Look for re-sellers at LYN garage sales, should be within your budget.

These are more to ultraportables right? As in you can't detach the screen to use as a tablet. How does the Pentium fares with the Atom (BayTrail or previous gen)? But I guess rm200 more and can get a better i3 definitely is a wiser choice tongue.gif

The P3 is a hybrid, i.e. work as a tablet, then dock with keyboard.
Pentium 2129Y is still more powerful than Bay Trail smile.gif But the Bay Trail will give longer battery runtime (assume similar battery capacity).

i see, but i notice that there is no microSD slot for these models, will that be a big problem? compare the T100 and P3, which one is more worth buying? and i saw on the acer website that there's a W700 which is quite similar to P3, what are their main differences?
