ya I know, as of now in Malaysia Sony Vaio Duo 13 is the only Full HD laptop with stylus I think, the others aren't available yet, that's why was seriously considering it.

went to Low Yat just now, Sony was promoting it in the concourse, played with it, decided against it due to 2 deal breakers: 1st is it only comes in 128GB, 2nd is I think the form factor is unwieldy, the sliding mechanism feels a bit flimsy.

checked out the other ultrabooks, none of them seems to feel really good, also 4th gen Intel processor will be coming soon so most of them will be updated soon, including Acer Aspire S7, Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13, Dell XPS 12 and Asus Zenbook (which wasn't on display sleep.gif). all of them don't have a very good trackpad (maybe a Windows problem), Sony Vaio Pro 13 has a pretty good display though.

at the end of it I think I'll just forgo touchscreen and go with a MacBook, it still feels to me the most well built and the one that gets the basics performing well (definitely the best trackpad), and man the retina display just looks stunning, comparing the display to MBA's makes me do not want to get an MBA.

think I'll prolly borrow someone's laptop to use and wait for the retina MBP to be updated and then get it.

you might want to wait for a refreshed surface pro. biggrin.gif
that is the hottest windows tablet out there in the market, even the RT version also done a pretty good job.

wouldnt the power supply be huge considering it's using 760m? I dont think she'd want that.

Depending on what Autocad she will be dealing with, 3D ones will require a powerful graphic card. And when the specs are powerful, battery life will go down laugh.gif

How about these? Running on ULV processors and weaker GPUs hmm.gif

Just about any basic i5/i7 with lots of Ram would do the job well.

Optional: SSD to reduce picture loading/rendering speed.

Tips: Might want to look for better quality displays which feature higher colour gamut icon_idea.gif

Since you already have a good Dell monitor; -kytz- is right, a notebook with a quad-core i7, lots of RAM (8-16GB) and an SSD will be good enough. That is what I am using now (although older generation tech lol) to process my D800's RAW files nod.gif

Unfortunately most of the haswell-powered quad core mobile i7 notebooks costs more than RM3k. If you really want a Haswell powered one, then closest would be this one:
14"
Lenovo Y410p, i7-4700MQ + GT750M(GDDR5)@RM2899, 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, 120w psu, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty

15.6"
Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3099[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs

MSI GP60-2OD, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT740M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2999, 4GB, 750GB, W8, steel series KB

If you don't mind a 3rd generationed CPU, then these:
15.6"
Acer V3-571G-736b8G1T, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT730M(DDR3) + (1920x1080 IPS) @RM2899[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M@RM2799, 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional, W8
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB, backlit keyboard optional, W8

*Prices in RRP, negotiable
*Your budget doesn't allow SSD upgrade at this time. But the good thing is that you could always upgrade later icon_rolleyes.gif
