budget: up to rm3.5k
size: 13-14, ultrabook

prefer if have ssd and resolution above 1366x768

something that looks clean. good battery life is warranted with ultrabook?

Buying it for a girl. she said she wants something portable and "quick". usage, pretty much nothing other than browsing and movies.

any other suggestion? was thinking on saving some money

what about the specter i5 13?

other models that caught my eye

1) Samsung s7 ultra: only sub 3k model with fhd
2) envy specter: beautiful
3) vostro 3360: no ssd but can be added.
4) asus vivobooks.

yeah I know, but spec-per-spec not so much different. I assume the pricing (excluding SSD which can just be bought) is due to screen type? I would pay extra for higher reso, significantly better battery life and IPS (doesnt need to have all 3) but there's not so much review on cheap models.

A bit of extra info

Budget: up to 4k
Preferred size: up to 15'
Preferred brand: none
usage: autocad, c++, altera

would really like something portable but capable. quite worried about the size of the power supply. I dont know how much autocad demands, so please enlighten me on it. No gaming. would like something that looks and feel good.

is it still a long way to go before we see more haswell models?

Definitely this one~

*Prices in RRP, negotiable
*Use remaining budget to upgrade RAM to 8GB, and perhaps upgrade the HDD to SSD

not for gaming, buying for my sister's use.

wouldnt the power supply be huge considering it's using 760m? I dont think she'd want that.

Depending on what Autocad she will be dealing with, 3D ones will require a powerful graphic card. And when the specs are powerful, battery life will go down laugh.gif

How about these? Running on ULV processors and weaker GPUs  hmm.gif
