They had limited cars..so I didn't get one. Yes, it is long.. . Think it all boils down to the SC quality.

Smooth mostly, but need to get used to it. Doesnt feel "direct" linear transmission like most jap cars. Engine noise is fine for me. B seg car, so I don't expect it to sound as quiet as camry for eg. subjective, I have a feeling you haven't test drive. Go try for yourself. I test drove at least 3 times before deciding.

Hi guys,

I'm looking around for a B-seg car currently. Is 208 really that problematic? We have (1) oxygen sensor prob (2) leaky gearbox prob (3) temperature sensor prob

Besides that, why are there so many 2014 & 2013 used 208s for sale? It's tempting but it sounds fishy. I suppose most of those low-mileage used 208s are showroom cars.

Pls comment.

Hi,

I've been driving 208 (3 doors) for 2 and half years, so far i have encountered 3-4 times sensor problem, and everytime it took service centre 3-5 hours (Chan Sow Lin Service Centre) to rectify the problem and it's all under warranty, so that means i did not pay any cent for it.

For a B-segment car, i would say Peugeot 208 is quite costly to maintain,
average i will have to spend RM400-600 (normal service) to service my 208 (either half year or i reach the specific mileage given)
and my next service will be major service but i heard it will cost around RM1200 - RM1800 (wallet bleeding)

I would say 208 is quite comfortable and nice to drive but definitely have to pay the price for it.

My mom own a 208 5-door, first batch in malaysia ,2year old now, now i own it ,when i first time drive this car it is powerful , exterior look like the future vehicle , interior look cute ,but this car got alot of problem

Disadvantage
1)1 year ago , temperature sensor malfunction , engine temperature show 120 celsius ,and lcd show outside temperature -24 celsius(then air con come out hot air)
2)this year, engine valve sensor problem, when u stop in gear position N or P ,the car vibrate very strong
3)this year too,air-con compressor spoiled, RM4000(luckily under warranty)
4)the FOUR SPEED TRANSMISSION....lagging and make FC terrible
5)halogen head light is dark , (peugeot says: is like this one no choice, and can't modified HID or it will harm the system board)
6)6 speaker, 2 mulfunction ,change the new one ald, still the same problem
7)when both of the rear door closed ,the sound just....like milo kong....not like the europe or continental car style
8)every morning drove the to school , when went over bump, underneath the car keep making the weird sound(like some metal loose ald), i sent to workshop to fix it, but still can't fix
9)this car 60k mileage, need to change brake pad(RM300+ , changed it b4 1 time) and change disc brake(first time heard need to change disc brake, 1set RM700)
10)90k car without keyless and push start is really not easy to enter the car when both hand holding things
11)FC is just terrible , RM80 ron95 just reach 360km, with very kind paddle down the gas
12)maintainence fees is not cheap
13)not a good family car(rear seat is cramp and air con can't reach)
14)A pillar is just a blind spot(cause me an accident)
15)if your car sent to service there are no spare car for u to drive(big problem for busy man)

PS: any owner face the same problem??? pls help me out

Advantage
1)powerful engine(120hp , prince engine with mini cooper, citreon, BMW)
2)small and light steering wheel (handing good in cornering)
3)high position dashboard (easy to manage car information, meter position just like HUD)
4)exterior exhaust sound is just amazing in this segment car
5)auto headlight/wiper is useful when driving in raining day
6)ABS+EBD work perfect in emergency braking(when emergency brake, hazard light auto turn on few second)
7)LCD with information(but without GPS, reverse camera and CD player)

I was so disappointed service , I wanted to change to Honda ,but the second hand value was very low

Please help me out, any owner face the same problem?? gv me some advice

Hi! I've been driving my 208 for 6 months. After the first service at 5k, the car starting to hear screeching sound whenever I break. At first, it was not so frequent and still bearable. Then I sent my car for 10k service and informed them. They said they "fixed" it. Then the break screeching sound got louder and almost every time when I break - even when I break gently. I resent the car to them for them to check. And they claimed it was "normal" and you cannot compare Japanese car with European car. Now, I feel like I'm driving a truck and whenever I gently break, the screeching sound is so loud and I'm really disappointed. Better just drive back my old junk that has no problem with the break.

Anyone knows what to do or the reason? Or what should I tell service center?

looks like 208 disc brake also a problem, mine dont have screeching sound but SC asked me to change disc brake bcuz of disc brake become thinner(is that really possible??it just 2 years old)

Mine also the same. It happen to me after 6 month I got the car giving the same reason they tell you. This mean european like brake with super loud sound and seems like European can't live without the loud brake sound which is "normal" to them... Haha..

After many complaint they ask me to skim my disc at RM80 (because I am not an European, can't stand the sound). Paid but problem come back after 1 month. Haven't got time go back complaint.

Seems like they are giving super lousy disc brake and ask customer to change it after that. So next time they give super lousy engine, super lousy transmission, super lousy everything and ask customer change it later? What a way of doing business.

Still thinking buying first hand car will have peace of mind.

Peugeot technician spoke to me as I questioned why a car company would.build a engine that would be like this? He says it affects other Peugeot models like 408,2008 etc. Sigh... Even though its there only for a short while you kinda question the engine a bit. No other explanation provided save just explaning that apparently engine.oil levels drop thus producing the noise after being.off overnight
*
I having the same experience.

Even though I am not an engineer. I "think" it should happen the same if u accelerate puting your gear at "N" if it is due to engine oil level drop. Mine happen only I put the gear on "D".

I also have disc brake issue currently which they also claim to be normal.

Didn't say much about it at SC because they are not trying to solve anything because everything is normal.
