My mom own a 208 5-door, first batch in malaysia ,2year old now, now i own it ,when i first time drive this car it is powerful , exterior look like the future vehicle , interior look cute ,but this car got alot of problem

Disadvantage
1)1 year ago , temperature sensor malfunction , engine temperature show 120 celsius ,and lcd show outside temperature -24 celsius(then air con come out hot air)
2)this year, engine valve sensor problem, when u stop in gear position N or P ,the car vibrate very strong
3)this year too,air-con compressor spoiled, RM4000(luckily under warranty)
4)the FOUR SPEED TRANSMISSION....lagging and make FC terrible
5)halogen head light is dark , (peugeot says: is like this one no choice, and can't modified HID or it will harm the system board)
6)6 speaker, 2 mulfunction ,change the new one ald, still the same problem
7)when both of the rear door closed ,the sound just....like milo kong....not like the europe or continental car style
8)every morning drove the to school , when went over bump, underneath the car keep making the weird sound(like some metal loose ald), i sent to workshop to fix it, but still can't fix
9)this car 60k mileage, need to change brake pad(RM300+ , changed it b4 1 time) and change disc brake(first time heard need to change disc brake, 1set RM700)
10)90k car without keyless and push start is really not easy to enter the car when both hand holding things
11)FC is just terrible , RM80 ron95 just reach 360km, with very kind paddle down the gas
12)maintainence fees is not cheap
13)not a good family car(rear seat is cramp and air con can't reach)
14)A pillar is just a blind spot(cause me an accident)
15)if your car sent to service there are no spare car for u to drive(big problem for busy man)

PS: any owner face the same problem??? pls help me out

Advantage
1)powerful engine(120hp , prince engine with mini cooper, citreon, BMW)
2)small and light steering wheel (handing good in cornering)
3)high position dashboard (easy to manage car information, meter position just like HUD)
4)exterior exhaust sound is just amazing in this segment car
5)auto headlight/wiper is useful when driving in raining day
6)ABS+EBD work perfect in emergency braking(when emergency brake, hazard light auto turn on few second)
7)LCD with information(but without GPS, reverse camera and CD player)

I was so disappointed service , I wanted to change to Honda ,but the second hand value was very low

Please help me out, any owner face the same problem?? gv me some advice

I bought my Peugeot 208 (5 doors) in july 2014

Despite the advantages i was very annoyed and it is too troublesome for me to own a peugeot 208 with unresolved problems till today especially the engine fault and the gear box faulty.

Everything started after the first service which took place on 17/1/2015

within 2 weeks after my first service the problem started wherein the gearbox & the engine become faulty which is on 29/1/2015 i have sent my car again to be diagnosed and given surety that the said problem has been resolved and it will never recur;

Since then i have been sending my car to be repaired for the same problem on 7/5/2015, 26/5/2015 (the car was at the said service center for 4 days), 25/8/2015, 25/2/2016 & 9/5/2016 (note: despite the service schedules)

I was so fed up with the unresolved major issues and as a final try i have sent an email to clic@naza.com.my on 10/5/2016 complaining about the problems and they have assured that they will send the front liner technician to the service centre that i used to send my car to be repaired to look into it.

On 16/5/2016 i have been asked to leave the car there since they need to diagnose the problem. The car was there for 3 days. I lose hope on them.

It was an awful experience & i was too dissatisfied and not happy with the car due to the engine and gearbox faulty.

I have initiated the legal suit since it is the final solution.

Hi there,

I'm looking for service and maintenance info for the 208 GTi 6MT, hope owner's in da club here can share.

1. What's the service interval for the car? 10k, 15k?

2. How much the SC charge for typical interval service (e.g. oil and oil filter change)?

3. Any parts the need much frequent replacement compare to average local / Japanese car? Such a coolant need replace every 50k as example.

4. What is the most expensive repair / service ever occur to you so far?

Thanks for those who share the info. rclxms.gif

Owner of the 208 Pug since 2014. Pretty satisfied owner overall (though I concur with the others about the FC, laggy throttle/gearbox etc)

Just want to survey and see what tyres have the forum members changed to since apparently Michelin Malaysia does not stock our standard tyre 195/55/16 XM2

I was unfortunate enough to burst the tyre the other day and when I went to the Michelin dealer was informed that they do not have this tyre in stock... They recommended upsizing to to a 205/55/16 but that size does not fit into the tyre well in the boot...

I ended using my spare (thank goodness for full sized spare) and buying a smaller 185/55/16 as a spare...

Would be glad to hear of others experience in changing tyres...

Does anyone know where can I get a longer/more powerful lug nut wrench for 208 stock wheel? The standard wrench that came with it was too short, I could only get 1 nut out. Is it the same size as 408T?

Ace hardware?

Thanks.

Just spare key alone. You only cant control the headlamps and roll up windows without the remote.

anyway, anyone experience issue with engine oil sensor? When i start my car, occasionally it showed "top up engine oil", about 1/10 times.. just checked with SC & they suggested to change the sensor which costs around rm350+-, and it takes 3 months to order

As suggested you can ignore the message since it's intermittent at the moment. An intermittent indication is a clue that the sensor will fail sooner or later.

IMO it's good to get the part from a spare part shop and change it at a Peugeot workshop. You'll save roughly a $100.
