That one is actually "insurance" masquerading as "extended warranty". MSI has nothing to do with it from 2nd year forwards IINM.

It's totally third party folks. Like Mobisure and the SenQ 5-year warranty thingy. I know for a fact sellers get a good cut from selling those "extended warranty" covers.

That sounds fair enough. Though like I said, if MSI Malaysia is able to give official permission (with all the "proper" terms and conditions, of course) to do user upgrades, you'll REALLY be popular with us gamers.

But, as long as I have the knowledge that the SC doesn't simply refuse service due to a broken "void" seal (well, the authorised dealer will have to break that seal themselves when they add RAM, like my shop did, right?) and will treat each claim FAIRLY on a case by case basis, than it's all good with me.

Please notify your superiors that us gamers will LOVE your brand (and recommend it to everyone we know) if we are given OFFICIAL permission to upgrade the RAM/Storage on our own without voiding the warranty. In turn, we will honor our side of the bargain by making sure NOTHING ELSE is disturbed in the process.

Also, the RAM/Storage upgrades that we do is in no way the responsibility of MSI. If the RAM/Storage device that we add in breaks, we will be solely responsible for it's repair/replacement.

Consequently, if someone unskilled tries to upgrade their RAM and ends up poking a screwdriver clean through their graphics chip, than we can definitely accept it when MSI says that he/she voided his warranty.

We are asking this because we have been given conflicting information from multiple correspondences with MSI itself, which is NOT good.
