That one is actually "insurance" masquerading as "extended warranty". MSI has nothing to do with it from 2nd year forwards IINM.

It's totally third party folks. Like Mobisure and the SenQ 5-year warranty thingy. I know for a fact sellers get a good cut from selling those "extended warranty" covers.

hmmm thanx.. i had my suspicious they try milk every cash i have in my wallet at time... i reject their hard and repeatedly offer me to extend it... well i still fall for their overprice 8GB low voltage ram...RM250 lol

If you're one of them, then I'm buying all my "upgrade" stuff from you lol. Especially that delicious, delicious 16GB Crucial Ballistix CL9 matched pair - if it works for you.

@Unseen83: At least you got LoVo. I'm stuck with an RM200 Kingston Value stick up my GE40's ***. Thank God it actually works.

What Jacky's offer is by their shop not official from msi, much like wut xotic pic.com offers. I bought my gs70 from him and I upgraded both ssd, ram and 802.11ac myself. He did take me to one of the shops to upgrade my ram but it ended up the guy didn't install it properly and it keeps crashing.... Lol

Anyone interested in buying my killer wireless LAN mini pice card?

That sounds fair enough. Though like I said, if MSI Malaysia is able to give official permission (with all the "proper" terms and conditions, of course) to do user upgrades, you'll REALLY be popular with us gamers.

But, as long as I have the knowledge that the SC doesn't simply refuse service due to a broken "void" seal (well, the authorised dealer will have to break that seal themselves when they add RAM, like my shop did, right?) and will treat each claim FAIRLY on a case by case basis, than it's all good with me.

Thanks MSI-NB.

Now we can all go attack Storm88 for RAM upgrades. He's an authorised dealer after all (IINM lar)... brows.gif

Huh?? what do you mean "attack?" blink.gif

Same answer I got.

THEY REALLY HAVE TO PUT THIS IN WRITING SOMEWHERE SO THAT NO SC CAN SCREW US OVER IN THE FUTURE.

Ehem MSI-NB. Ehem.

Please notify your superiors that us gamers will LOVE your brand (and recommend it to everyone we know) if we are given OFFICIAL permission to upgrade the RAM/Storage on our own without voiding the warranty. In turn, we will honor our side of the bargain by making sure NOTHING ELSE is disturbed in the process.

Also, the RAM/Storage upgrades that we do is in no way the responsibility of MSI. If the RAM/Storage device that we add in breaks, we will be solely responsible for it's repair/replacement.

Consequently, if someone unskilled tries to upgrade their RAM and ends up poking a screwdriver clean through their graphics chip, than we can definitely accept it when MSI says that he/she voided his warranty.

We are asking this because we have been given conflicting information from multiple correspondences with MSI itself, which is NOT good.

Thank you.

What can I say. I like their stuff. If they can give us great service AND great products, better deal for all of us, rite?

MSI gets loyal customers in return. Loyal customers bring in EVEN MORE loyal customers. What's not to like.

Them Ballistix came in yet? Faster faster review.

And you should stock SSDs from Crucial too, maybe even Plextor. Later we can go upgrade at our "favourite" authorised dealer lol.

BTW, your lobster picture is REALLY making me hungry darnit.
