Hey there guys. My friend is interested in buying an entry level mech keyboard for gaming(dota 2 specifically). Any recommendations? Below the RM300 range. There are a few at this range specifically the Blackwidow Tournament and the CM Storm Quikfire TK. Any help? Has never used a mech keyboard before.

As I thought. Most people won't recommend Razer. That's what I told him too. Thanks for the input |

Thanks for the input but tell him to try out the different switches with his own fingers first...that's the best thing he can do to determine which switch he like...it's just like buying running shoe, u need to wear it with socks and run a bit with it to know if that's the shoe u like best. QUOTE(melvintcs @ Aug 20 2013, 02:01 PM) im still dilemma between PBT from taobao or ABS from wasdkeyboard. Trust me bro, you will not enjoy partially shinny keycaps no matter how nice the color combination is taobao = PBT, better material, but not really like the color combination. wasdkeyboard = ABS, bad material, but love the color combination. still finding a great deal for myself. QUOTE(168257061 @ Aug 20 2013, 07:36 AM) it depends on what switch you use. using browns atm, can sort of feel the keycaps like unlubed door hinge (okay that mighta sound exaggerated)lubing mx black/red at least eliminate much of the scratchiness. lubed mx blue click will become subtle. most of the time lubed switch will reduce the noise. quite a different from stock switch. of course you can't feel it with just one demo switch. you gotta test with whole keyboard which has fully tuned switches and compare it to stock but yeah you get the idea |

But from what I read, POM have smoother surface than PBT generally. I like ABS surface. And I like PBT surface too. The problem is PBT easily get dirty if my hand sweating or wet. But PBT have more "rigidity". They felt durable. Now looking forward to try POM but only available in gray color from Keycool.
Last time when I newly joined this thread, I'd been warned that I will addicted to try all the switch and different material of keycaps. I hate to admit that he's right. Now I'm hooked. Haha... |
