@NeuroOne

Thanks.

@Bizmind

Mine's in Kuantan.

I received nothing from JPA. Had to download Borang Lapor Diri from JPA website and mail to them together with copy of transcripts. Only then register with SPA online. Did you not do this? Thought it's standard procedure.
*
I received this package from JPA about this offer.
Tawaran PTD (Kontrak)

I contacted them appealing to reject the offer. But they come back to me
and said I MUST go and "lapor diri". So I just confirm to them that I am
coming. Just telephone and give my name and Identification Number.

So now I am waiting for 18-Feb-2010 for the report duty day.
(weird becoz no interview and no exam sitted).

I asked them what if in the 2 years contract I failed the exam/interview?
The answered re-sit the exam/interview until pass. As long as in the 2 years duration.
So from my understanding, if I failed the 13th exam/interview, I just take the 14th exam
as long as still in the 2 years contract. (Correct me if I'm wrong).

I hope this PTD thingy can promise better future for me as now I am working in Oil&Gas consultant
company.
I feel great loss for quiting this job.
sad.gif

But what to do. Government seems to need me. T_T

To JPA scholars being asked to lapor diri by JPA for M41 post, chances are, Ur one of those PTDs hired by JPA.. contract of service. They do this nowadays. For this group, U dun have to go through exam, PAC, just interview & then voila !! Ur a PTD edi.... that is, if Ur successful in the interview la... & this group have better chances of being absorbed into permanent service. Why ? Dun ask me why, I dunno the answer.  tongue.gif

There u are bizmind, hmm..sure u'll feel reluctant to leave a career in the Oil and Gas, that's a very promising career, with a very bright future!! I'm about to pursue career in those field as well....

Actually my plan was, to pursue career in NDT (nondestructive testing), alrdy took my ultrasonic testing level II course (the fee is RM6.6k) last year in august, and then, planned to take radiographic testing and radiation protection officer course after CNY. What I prefer for my carer is, either work in private NDT company or GLC as NDT technicain/NDT engineer/Radiation protection officer, or maybe as an NDT researcher/engineer/instructor in government agency like (Malaysian nuclear agency), I was quite rest assure that the gov will get me a job related to my field of study since Nuclear science is quite significant in the government sector coz we have a nuclear agency under MOSTI operating a 1MW TRIGA Reactor and Atomic Energy Licensing Board to take care of the safety and enforcement regarding radiation activity..

then out of sudden, I got the PTD offer!! erghh really ruined my plan..bikin rosak ana punyia program vmad.gif ...angin takda, ribut tak ada, tiba2 hujan.......vmad.gif ..

I did ask the person in charge what if I decline the offer coz I'm not interested and wait for other offer, they said, I'll be fined for declining the offer coz of not interested, well i felt like cry.gif

Then I ask them further what if i get other other offer of government job as research assistant , contract research officer or contract science officer when still serving as PTD (Kerahan) and they said, NO, only if i get offer with permanent post that I can resign as PTD (kerahan)...damn..feel like wanna cry.gif again..the problem now is, most people said, most of the post for science officer and research officer are contract basis now before being absorbed as permanent..so, no hope....

But then what to do, reality is very cruel, u'll never get what you want...especially if you are bonded by the government, and having a rojak degree (includes science and engineering degree). Rojak degree holders can be dumped anywhere in the gov sector, coz thr's not much need for science/engineering graduates... sad.gif .
UNLESS are a medical/dentistry/veterinary/health science or education grad..

So here I am, have been dumped in the "front line" as the PTD (kerahan)...damn..dunno y they really need so much PTD, 500 vacancy for this year...haiz.... so many "kepala" to manage the goverment rather than having someone who actually do the job???

I think I have to forget about my dream on pursing career in Nuclearscience/NDT/Radiation safety sad.gif for two years....gonna waste my youth as a white collar worker...never feel very nice to start my 1st career in the management position..anyway, if you don't like the job, just flunk ur test, interview and ur DPA course rclxms.gif .

Anyway, enjoy being government admin official, as a very glamorous, highly respected and smart looking PTD (Kerahan), the front line of gov service, no gong xi fatt chai for government official or SPRM will come hunting and questioning us tongue.gif tongue.gif

Hey there. I am pretty new here and stumbled upon this forum while browsing here and there on whoever in the same boat, ex-JPA scholar offered to do PTD. Yes..from what my professor told me, PTD is definitely what you call "the admin world". But what makes it different from other type of government scheme like (okay, I am giving example for my case as Urban Planning student) Pegawai Perancang at local level and stuff - PTD is what you call as "progressive career". Most of time, like if you are Pegawai Perancang..you will stuck doing the same job for..quite a number of years. But with PTD, they gave you opportunity to do more than just that 4x4 office job. You perform, and you'll be rewarded. How? Like if you are interested in transport field, after getting the job as "permanent" officer, ask them to transfer you to the Transport Ministry. Pardon me if I am wrong here..for I just quoting what my professor told me.

And yes, I am also a master student in transport planning. I called up JPA and to those who still wanna pursue masters degree and DEFINITELY not interested with the field - PTD thing - (for those pursuing masters only..the ONLY excuse accepted by JPA) you have to 1. Send a formal letter to JPA that you need to "tangguhkan kontrak kerana menangguh pengajian". 2. A letter from your "penjamin" that they know you are indeed is studying. 3. If you pursued and have a scholarship, attach the sholarship letter. Or if you are self-sponsored..write a formal letter saying you are indeed self-sponsored. 4. A copy of offer letter for current masters programme. Send it to Pasca-Ijazah JPA.

Hehe. Hence, if you are not interested and wanted to continue with your masters programme..do all above. Then, you are excused by JPA. But then again, my professor told me that this is an opportunity for you to grow and learn and gain experience in the government sector. I am like most of you..knew nothing about the job as this is not "my field and what I studied four years in uni for". But who we are to judge? We have yet seen and experience it, who we are to judge, right? So..hehe. See you guys on the 18th!! ^^

Same as u..Auditorium Jabatan Perdana Menteri ..what about BizMind??. Actually, are we gonna start our job on that very day?? or It just a briefing  on our job or anything regarding PTD n settle our documents n thn after tht we hv to come back again another day to start our work???....hmm..i think i better settle the documents la..just in case....u settled all the documents n medical check up alrdy??

even I'm totally NOT INTERESTED with tht job AT ALL....I'll jst prepare.....
I did apply the post of Contract science officer at Atomic Energy Licensing Board and contract Research Assistant at UKM n Malaysia Nuclear Agency...don't knw if they allow me to reject the PTD offer for other  contract government post..n now, still hv't sure i get the jobs i applied or not...so, play safe, just sacrifice my 2 yrs of my youth serving the government as a paper pushers for ministers n politicians than risked being black listed or fined..

I will come all the way from Sarawak to "lapor diri" at:

Auditorium
Jabatan Perdana Menteri
Kompleks B
PUTRAJAYA

I do not know where is that. I do not have place to live.
The sad thing is that, when I ask the person in charge about place to live
for "oversea" people like me, they said, "Maaf encik, hal tempat tinggal
kena urus sendiri."
Then I ask again, "Ada siapa2 yang boleh saya rujuk untuk dapatkan tempat tinggal?"
The reply was, "Tiada".

I was just about to say, "Ada tandas untuk saya guna sebagai rumah sementara?"
(But I manage to control my temper).

Guys!!! Who will be in the same boat as mine.
Please please please. We must stand together!
Bersatu kita teguh! Bercerai kita roboh!

So this is my number:

016-848-6136

The rest, please share your number.
At least we can contact and go out minum2 together.
If only you guys are willing to make a great team together lah.
Hehe..

Looking forward to get new numbers from you guys.

And...

MEET YOU THERE.

p.s. I haven't done anything about the preparation because too busy at office.
Now I need to rush all these projects to completion and proper hand over. mad.gif
