Well, the build quality is good.. I asked one of them, the said its due to the touch screen is unnecessary, thats why they didnt recommend there, but i think an additional touch screen wont hurt =).

If Acer release the exact same spec but without touchscreen, they could probably sell it by RM200-300 less hmm.gif
That mean instead of a 128G, you could probably put in a 256G Plextor M5S with your money tongue.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Yup, the red colour is not interesting to my eyes  tongue.gif Usually resellers would sell it at a lower price, try to bargain. I saw one reseller sell the v5-573pg at RM2680  brows.gif

For me, HD screen is enough for my usage. Some more I always dim the display, so an IPS is, to me, is a waste of money  tongue.gif

The fans, I'm not sure. But I believe if you saw two vents at the back, then there should be two fans lorh. *purely my guessing only. Acer's website has an internal error, they no longer shows the v5 variants...perhaps a new model coming? hehehe.  brows.gif
*
I also noticed the internal error and been speculating on new models coming biggrin.gif Gonna wait until they update that page before I make my final decision.

I got a chance to try out the keyboard properly today... and boy, I must say the keyboard is really, REALLY shallow; the button depression is barely there --definitely something people will have to get used to it; shame it's like that though --everything else is great.

Not much they can actually do about the keyboard, considering how thick (or thin, depending on how you see things) the laptop is.

I use the touch screen 20%-40% of my time. Especially when I'm in class or library because it is just wayyy faster to navigate using the screen than the touchpad. I use mouse when I do my work though biggrin.gif

Depends on the reseller. I got mine for RM80. From the survey I made, the price varies from RM80-RM160. Do your search properly, and may you find the best deal. biggrin.gif

Hi, i swapped my HDD for an SSD. The problem with the mPCIe slot right now is that acer support malaysia has no idea whether it will support sata or not. Anyone feeling rich to donate a mSATA ssd??  rclxms.gif

my guess is that it will support mSATA(i have seen other V5 series supporting it) but will the BIOS support it? and will the recovery installer support reformatting it with windows. maybe its possible to initialise it GPT via disk management first. Who knows, would love to try it out.
On my upgrade list is an 8gb ddr3l ram and mSATA SSD or wifi-AC mPCIE card. smile.gif
im sure sooner or later ill buy a mSATA ssd. just that it may be quite a long while from now smile.gif
as for how to prepare your pc to swap to SSD is pretty simple:

1. Get a usb storage device(usb flash drive, external hdd) that has more than 16GB of space and plug it in.
-note: this process will later remove everything on the device. so back it up if theres anything important

2. run "Acer Recovery Management" . Click "Create Factory Default Backup". Choose the correct drive and follow the simple instructions.
-note: after finishing the backup, you can choose to remove the "backup" partition in the stock HDD which will give extra space. Bout 16gb worth of space.

3. Turn off the lappy, unscrew all 17 screws underneath, and gently lift/pry it off.

4. carefully remove the HDD and swap in the SSD and put everything back together.
-note: there is a contact detection on the screws, so if u dont screw back the middle two screws, your pc wont power up.

5. plug in your recover device(if its not plugged in already). and turn on the lappy. It should boot directly to your recovery device.
-note: if not, go into bios(press F2 during "acer" logo) and disable "secure boot" under "boot" section. you may need to setup a bios password to be able to change it.

6. a blue screen with few options should appear, just choose your language, "troubleshoot" , and choose reset your PC.
-note: it is totally up to you to "repartition" the drive or not. I highly recommend a repartition and a full clean even tho it takes longer.

6a. Take a nap, have dinner, play with a cat.

7. when the freakishly long "Reset" finishes, it will restart your laptop. Then u may remove your recovery drive.
note: if you dont remove, it will go into recovery again, if that happens, just remove and restart your PC.
ps, i use "Pc" and "lappy" interchangeably hehe..

Damn I just updated mine before I read your comment doh.gif

I wonder is it the driver still actually working and just a display issue?

So in reality this laptop has both intel driver and nvidia driver?

Btw how do you do driver sweeping?

Yes, they have both, as part of Optimus (NVIDIA's graphic switching).

Not normal. I can charge my battery fully.

Hmm. Did you follow the Acer's guide provided together with the laptop? There are few things mentioned in the guide about how we should use the laptop in the early phase. Like for example, we must use the adapter to turn on the laptop for the first time. Also, Acer mention about using the laptop until it very low (w/o adapter), and then recharge fully (w/o using the laptop), and then repeat this 3 times iinm. smile.gif

I added 4GB RAM only. Planning to change the HDD to SSD next year. Now no budget sweat.gif

Not sure about msata ssd though, but as posted by rafazafar, he succesfully swapped the hdd with ssd. biggrin.gif rclxms.gif
Warranty wise, many people say changing to ssd and upgrading the ram wont void the warranty.
