Mind to share which brand RAM you added and how much?  rclxms.gif

I was thinking to upgrade the RAM as well. Not very sure though if it will make the laptop faster  hmm.gif

Any advice on whether to upgrade the RAM first or change hdd to ssd for better laptop performance?

The SSD has to be m-sata connection right?

Not really know about SSD  rclxub.gif

definitely SSD will give huge performance improvements..

for ram , it uses the 1.35V (known as "ddr3l" or "low voltage ddr3")

Well just to report in, now that i have been using this lappy heavily, .. All is good, im used to the very shallow keyboard already by now. running on SSD and 8gb ram(4gb onboard+4gb ddr3l). battery life is round 8h+ - 9h+ depending on what ur doing. (windows reports it as 14h, acer power management reports around 10h+) ..

as for the power saving mode settings someone asked. im doing off-display in 5mins and hibernate in 10minutes(for me starting up from hibernate is faster than from sleep, wierd right. it takes bout 1-2sec from hibernate and bout 4secs from sleep).

Screen brightness is on 2-3rd from lowest. this is what will make or break ur battery life the most. smile.gif

gaming will run the battery down in less than 2 hours lol.

also just a sidenote, dont try to play any games using the touchpad, it has a certain delay when switching between two fingers and button clicks

hello! im new here. i just wanna know if anyone updates their lappy to windows 8.1? how about the drivers installed? they're quite fewer from the windows 8 single language... so just wondering if i will going to update my lappy or not. also, i have a strange issue of not notifying low battery when my lappy is below 10%. it'll just sleep/turns off the screen. and another thing is sometimes when i unplug my charger to the lappy, the recent window/game/task will close as well. strange, though. thanks for your feedback and help as well! smile.gif

Hi. I did the upgrade since the first day of announcement... Download from the official Acer website. For not notifying low battery I did experienced this issue before, but now 8.1 I haven't try yet... Oh ya, one thing worth mentioning is that Acer Launch Manager software is not working... For FN+F3(wifi dongle) completely unusable, while others is working, just you don't see the small pop-up window.

Can you guys share how much is the price for another piece of 4Gb upgrade?
Anyone try to put in a 8Gb RAM? I saw the spec sheet on Acer website stated that it can support max up to 12Gb.

And also what brand is the SSD that u guys upgraded to? Can a Plextor M5S fit in? >>

I dont think u need any sp for touch screen laptop because this is a glass type and u can wipe off any thumbprints easily with a piece of cloth.

It is advisable to fully charge and run down the battery for 3-5 cycles on any new devices. I am not sure how long it's the full charge time because I am still waiting for my laptop which will arrived tmrw.

Edit - My unit charge fully within 1.5 hour smile.gif

I've been eyeing for Acer Aspire V5 473PG and Samsung ATIV Book 5. Any expert used ATIV Book 5 before? It's so damn hard to find a deep review about it. Never even seen the real one.

I love that both have metallic-ish body and touch screen but what torn me up is the processor. Does Haswell really THAT good? Both also score an i5 but ATIV Book 5 is 3th gen Ivybridge and Aspire V5 is 4th gen Haswell. The prices on both though are quite different; ATIV Book 5 who has 3th gen i5 is more expensive. I am pretty much a wuss because this is my 1st notebook, so I gotta make sure I choose the right one.

Please help.

It has HDD and SSD inside. Allegedly, strong battery life, quiet and cool running. Great display, maybe? Since Samsung smartphone is pretty good at display but not sure they apply on notebook. Lastly, of course I always love metallic aluminium body. I really need someone who actually used it to give me some deep thoughts, hahaha.

Just to report, i got 9 hours and 8mins web browsing time on power saver settings after SSD upgrade. i wonder how much more power would be saved with increased ram and a top of the line samsung pro/evo ssd.

ram is ddr3l 1.35v.
mPCIe port does support HDD caching. will confirm again if it can be used as primary boot.
*
is it this model only support 1.35v ram... or u choose to apply low volt ram...

currently thinking of buying V5-473pg or lenovo s410p
