I just sent my proud new Cerato 1.6 for 1st service at KIA SC today. After the service, I noticed the pick up respond is better now.  The idling RPM now is 1100.  I did not notice what it was before the service.  I reset the L/100 km meter, noticed it went up pretty fast from 8.4 while driving to 10.3 when idling at traffic light.  Is this normal ?

Idling rpm is 1.1k? That's a bit high..

Hi, problem is same like yours, this problem already complain with KIA services center, until now they still not have any idea, after asking other car shop, now just have this for KIA Cerato, first fill full tank fuel, reset the L/100KM, to drive to long straight way, if can please choice the less traffic light way, drive to 7-8L/100KM, and keep the 7-8L/100KM around 15 min, after next drive will just have 8-9L/100KM, now my is 8.3L/100KM stable in this month.
Thank you.

Thank you, ykfnetwork. I just filled full tank, and reset the L/100km. It came up 20.4 L/100km. Something not right. After 15 minutes drive, now down to 14.6. I am more concern whether the tuning was properly done by SC. The IDLING seems to be high. Does your car consume more fuel now comparing to prior the service?

Ya, monocle, I think so too. What is the normal rpm when idle with air con turned on? Guess I have to go back to SC on Mon. It took me 5 and a half hour today at Setapak branch.

Idling at 1100 RPM is really quite high. That's gonna burn up fuel really quickly..not to mention put unneccesary wear on the engine.

The normal idling RPM should be approx 700 or below. On the GSD, my target idle RPM was set to 690 RPM. Can see that the engine idler will try it's best to keep the engine near that level.

I believe you should be able to ask them to plug in the GSD and set the target idling speed.

Kinda agreed with you. Ppl shout when theres problem, but rarely saying anything if everything is just fine.
My colleague bought the new cerato last month. He said everything is OK, good value for money. Just that the suspension bit soft, and his door got dent. Suspect other car open door hard in parking side by side.
*
Hey , I have drive this car for about 600Km.. yup , agree that the suspension is way too soft
But , the rest , no complain ... everything is just find
But , i find there is one small problem ... the aircon , the air coming out is a bit inconsistent when you turn to about 4 to 5 . are you all having the same problem ?

If you are from the Klang Valley, you can send the car to Naza Auto Solution at Jalan 225, PJ, beside Federal Highway to check on the issue. It shouldn't happened. PM me if you need the details.

Since the suspension is rather soft, how to resolve it? Can change with a firm suspension?
