So fast got GTX860M already  ohmy.gif
our G55 almost time to retire edi... lol
*
Already retired can play old games or new games with medium to low settings nia haha. Class also already drop lei. Not class 1 but 2 . Sad

QUOTE(ongbenghooi @ Mar 6 2014, 09:39 AM)
This is Singapore price?
*
Seems legit. Price for g55 when it came out is that that current g56 price. Expensive. As usual lenovo came out with something more daring but at cheaper price. Setback might be the heat.

on par with AW price minus the premium service? lol. i believe MSI is way cheaper also. that price is AW price~ or nearly on par. let's say AW abit ex. but there is more than just the specs~ lol.

with slight oc 780m in my aw is equally good. i got the aw with lower price than that, with good parts, support, and freedom to customize at will.
yeah that's right; what is asus thinking? asus g-series is good. in fact it can outperform stock aw that is in the same range anytime. however the price/performance+value ratio of g-series has changed, compared to other brands.
*
haha. since i don't have any AW's in my hand and haven't really get the chance to play with one. I believe only the bios differs which in turns affects the boot time~ but don't know la coz stock asus comes with bloatwares and sh*ts~ AW comes with those too? lol

QUOTE(hyzmyn @ Mar 8 2014, 01:19 AM)
me like G46 better
*
was about to reply to u about u stating something about price is not more than 5k including rog set and stuff~ lol.. then u mention g46. well to be fair there's actually pro and cons between g46 and g55. if i remembered correctly g46 doesn't comes with FHD. also G46 is more tedious to rip apart compared to g55. but alot easier to bring it around, form factor. biggrin.gif but yeah g46 is a beast smile.gif u own one? coz i'd like to add to our owners list. so far only got 1 that reports in~

so clever yeah partly it's the bios smile.gif i have no idea whether it's full of bloatwares or not because i took the stock drives out and installed ssd's with w8.1 clean install. (never run the stock drives yet)

yeah i saw that too biggrin.gif g750jz with 880m for MYR 5k. if that is a solid info, i will get one too! (the gpu alone is about MYR 3k currently) from what i have read, it has 8gb ram.
*
5k for 880m? where? if yes i'll take it.. disregard all those cannot change proc and gpu~ lol.. 8gb its ok .. can always add.. not a biggy.. even if i have to rip apart..

uh? how do you add ram to your gpu? what i meant was that the gpu alone has 8gb ram.
*
uh really? lol i thought it comes with 880m and 8gb ram~ lol my bad my bad.. i didn't really see the specs.. =.="

p/s: i'm a genius maybe coz can add ram to gpu brows.gif whistling.gif ->>> doh.gif

QUOTE(ZRong223 @ Mar 8 2014, 09:39 AM)
I thought you can actually dismantle the laptop to get access every hardware? (Though it is not an easy work at all...)
*
well from my experience. atleast 15 - 20 mins just to get access to vents, fans and stuff. and lets say take 10 mins to clean up everything then another 20-25 to assemble. so approx 1 hour to do this. and it's a very tedious task =.=" yeah it's a turn off~ and one wrong step, some functions might not work such as the usb port, hdmi and stuff~ =.=" and in order to repaste thermal paste, that is where the seal is rclxms.gif

so i'd say they actually don't want people to pry into their laptops except for service centers. But of course some of us did the opposite. although i didn't know anyone apart from G55 users to rip apart their g-series. lol

yes you can do that. for every laptop. however, for laptops like msi, aw, and clevo, there are much easier and convenient. most parts that need regular maintenance can be accessed just by taking out the back cover, there is no need to go further than that.
no wonder smile.gif http://www.redgamingtech.com/geforce-gtx-7...x-880m-details/ (and look at that gtx 790 lol!)
*
oh i've read about this before =.=" shit no wonder lol. i think i was browsing through pulse news and came across this. lol.

but i was hoping 8 series is gonna be maxwell but still kepler's . but any time now biggrin.gif

not saying asus product teruk.. or really teruk.. they have decent product but thing is.. apart from specs there is more to it. and the pricing also a let down for me. if i have the $$ for asus why not go straight for something else

nice smile.gif
right; asus laptops are relatively well built. however they have to do more to get things straight and offer a much better customer experience (many brands can do it, why can't asus?)
*
I'm more concern on the design aswell. since i would like to clean up the fans the vents and stuff instead of destroying and putting the laptop into risk everytime i do this~ . they should go for the modern design instead of the conventional thinking.

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 9 2014, 11:38 PM)
i assume you refer to the internals. they should improve that. it's actually related to the rate of service and support. rog gaming laptops are supposed to be good for customizations, not control. it's too bad asus doesn't share the same idea.
*
haha yeah of course~ the current external design i'm satisfied what. simple but elegant. And the newer design for g750 is quite nice too apart from the superb design that doesn't allow us to do the cleaning our selves and of course i believe the new design also comes with the 2 accessible ram slot and another 2 non-user accessible . lawl~ i think they are playing it safe. but too safe already. atleast don't solder the parts. We can do it ourselves. the GPU also follow standard MxM should really help. other than that so far the g55 perform well biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ZRong223 @ Mar 10 2014, 05:16 PM)
BTW, you sound like you always do this. I mean, dissemble the laptop and do some cleaning.
Mind to share some experience?  biggrin.gif
*
yep sort of smile.gif for g55 alone i've been using it since june 2012. I've lost count of how many times i disassemble my laptop sometimes just to re-paste, or clean the fan or sometimes misconnected something then have to re-do the whole thing~ =.=" and of course add rams to the non-user accessible slot

so basically my estimation time now to:

disassemble g55 : 15 - 20 mins (up to taking out the mobo)
clean fans and stuff : 10 - 15 mins
assemble g55 : 20 - 25 mins

few of us here actually could disassemble the laptop easily smile.gif since going to service center just for cleaning is too much of a hassle (going to kl is a no no =.=" traffic jams here and there~)

Pretty much standard asus doing style to their G-Series laptop. Only allow for RAM and HDD access.
Played too safe in design of the laptop, not allowing for maintenance.
Spent extra effort on redesign(reverse engineered) the GPU PCB like they did in Mars series.
*
Haha probably they even plan to solder the RAM and the HDD. I think horns mention to me sometime back asus is planning to implement ram disk. probably that ram is soldered? ahaha. most likely eh

They play it not safely la and most of all too convetionally wanted to control everything. wanted their SC to provide with everything when they can't even manage. Just wondering asus warranty is managed by 3rd party right, something like kena contract (i think i've seen this before or read before in previous thread of g-series)

lol. they redesign but hopeless. instead i think they should just replace their top management and replace it with younger generations with fresh ideas also enthusiast smile.gif probably that could help alot. old doesn't mean it's good but new doesn't confirm its better. but it's better to try something new rather than holding on to the past~
