RS-15 and RS-17 diff is only about MYR 300. Not that much compared to the 15 inch and 17 inch. Therefore RS-17's price is more worth it IMHO.

But then let's wait and see for Asus' new G7xxxxxx series. Bloody fantastic laptop I must say, with a decent price. or is there some 2014 product list already? lol
*
True2 my mistake =.=" what i remember was me customizing the rs-17 to what i think is nice~ and then just simply check on the price of RS-15 with just gtx 780m. Such a fail~ lol no wonder the price gap is around 3k+ lol.

Even the G750JH didn't arrive in malaysia~ which is sad. it has i7-4700HQ and 780 in it~ but let's see for 2014. No product list as of yet or no members talking any. Will update once we hear any news (rumors even!) haha

hello, i just bought another asus laptop. i heard some sound like ka ka ka from bottom. What problem?
*
ka ka ka .. my assumption is only moving things.. means fans or HDD (unless it uses SSD) yeah thats about it.. except it's a beep sound maybe from mobo but ka ka ka is too rough~ so might aswell go for HDD or fans~

QUOTE(kahtsin @ Jan 2 2014, 02:24 PM)
Happy new year to you!! biggrin.gif

yeap. Somehow works for me. But you'll  get used to the orange-ish colour of the screen. Definitely reduces glare during night time or usage in dark conditions
*
ah =.= i wouldnt want that lol. Since my screen i calibrate to bring out all the juice~ quite decent but i still miss the 120Hz. damn hdmi port broken cry.gif

I saw at one part sifu Ace mention about only the battery indicator led is on. tonberry_ax u remember when i disassemble your g55 and pasted with that very conductive paste? iirc it's the same~ but different case luh. lol.

now i began to wonder g53 vs g55 which is more durable~ (in terms of disassembling lol

hmm, the Asus never release any service manual  sad.gif . We only have to trial and error to disassemble the laptop and learn in the process lol. But so far non of us screw up in the process right?  whistling.gif  whistling.gif

If dun wana take the risk, the only option is to send back to SC.  unsure.gif
*
Yeah sort of no one~ *could be me~ lol* well i did something but i'll not gonna go details on that haha.. dem~ well i dont know if thats my fault mainly or its meant to be haha.. but yeah lesser risk (still have) send to SC

QUOTE(TYK @ Jan 29 2014, 09:57 PM)
Hi all,

I am about to purchase a G750JX, but have doubt if I should wait for G750 refresh, like the G750JS rumoured to have GTX870M.

My situation now is I do have a working laptop, but it's 7 years old. I am definitely not desperate in need of new laptop, just my desire to have one.

So what is you guys opinion: Buy G750JX now, or wait until probably Aug/Sept for G750 refresh?
*
You could buy it now and sell it later ( well abit of hassle to resell it )

but if you could wait, it would open up alot more windows. Well usually it does coz january to aug/sept is a very long way. What we're looking at is still so much of 2013 release. 2014 should well be another whole new level smile.gif fingers crossed.

oh ok. to be honest, for common usage, your laptop will fly after putting in a ssd. even my dad's i3 laptop is like on steroid after i put one in (a humble 120gb ocz vertex 3 only)

it's not about you're cheap or not :/ 120gb is fine, it's just that 240gb performs better (increased iops, read/write speed). oh now i got it. you want msata, not 2.5". if that's the case you need to go to service center to retain the warranty. alternatively, for 2.5", currently a good choice for you is samsung evo (250gb) with RAPID technology. you can also consider sandisk extreme ii if you're not comfortable with tlc.

bf4 is a good game imo and it worths every penny, however it needs juice to play it nicely (i.e. a good gpu).
*
Very tru. I think ive seen bf4 on g55.. Not so nice. Playable but youll iss alot of features that the gamehad to offe. Same case with the previous tomb raider.

it's the nice scenery that you will miss a lot. the fps drops a lot when i do all high (about 40; 680m). after that i just use custom with some options high (now it's like 120)
*
woah even 680m is having a hard time with bf4. 660m drop to 2nd class GPU already~ last time middle upper class~ haha. kesian.. drop so far already

QUOTE(balat @ Feb 15 2014, 10:44 AM)
Ahh I think I should post this here tongue.gif

My Asus G53JW lappy's power cord seemed to be not working anymore this morning. However I have another power cord from my old lappy laying around and yes it does work. I am worried my lappy now is under powered although this is just a temporary solution. I am really glad the brick-sized power adapter is still running fine as I suspected it as the culprit earlier. Need expert advice here:

1. Can I just use any power cord for my G53JW?
2. And if I go to electrical shop, should I ask for the power cord with 7A and 125V labelled?

Please note that my original power cord from Asus is labelled with:
7A
125V

My temporary power cord comes with:
2.5A
250V~

I know this is silly, but the temporary power cord is used to power up a 65 watt old lappy but I believe the G53JW is powered up with 150 watt.

Real noob here, if u need additional info please let me know (input, output labelled on the brick power adapter)

Cheers
*
there could be side effect one that i've encountered so far is keyboard malfunctioning lol. It's not good for the mobo too..

p/s: wah so long never came here biggrin.gif.

here's my temp ONE DAY after sending to lowyat service centre for second repair (both time i ask for thermal repaste, they labelled as overheating)

user posted image

should i go to lowyat again and burn down their service centre or something ?
*
go burn them down. lol.

anyways it's quite easy to repaste. now that i think about it. you could try to do it yourself by following the guide at the first page of this thread biggrin.gif u would be more satisfied or get professional help~ as riku suggested raymond could help biggrin.gif

Very true.
Yes please..just kidding, download a thorough video from YT (g53 or g55 thermal repaste, both are fine), and follow the steps. Take it slow, no need to rush. Trust me repaste process is fun. Don't doubt yourself.

I guess they didn't use good thermal paste or they didn't do anything at all.
My keyboard has stopped functioning anyway but the backlights are still up. I just don't find these issues to be convincing enough to purchase a new notebook tongue.gif

GTX 460M is still doing a great job, at least to me and I don't really game like I used to, definitely lightweight notebook after this.
*
True, if it's just for light gaming and office work + some entertainment should suffice already biggrin.gif actually my G55 is quite sufficient already since i didn't have much time playing games. I only play Dota 2 which isn't a performance hungry game~ lol. Just add SSD and enough RAM biggrin.gif

Hi guys, long time no see... I've ran into some issues with my G75VW.. First the adapter got spoilt.. yesterday, the laptop is not switching on at all... need help..

I charged the laptop using an Energizer battery pack, and i was able to use my laptop, but suddenly yesterday, i could not even charge it anymore, and the laptop did not switch on...
*
Hi. i'm suspecting another under voltage scenario~ lol. pls people never let your laptop suffer with undervoltage power supply it might brick your laptop. Pity them~ haha.

But bring it to service center for them to check. I'm suspecting mobo probs~ coz cannot switch on at all. Probably just some components fried but hard to find replacement or nobody is willing to do it except buying a new mobo~
