What is g55 adapter specs? 140w 9.5a 19v? Can i use a weaker adapter will it damage my lappy? I tried calling the service
Centre in kl just now but no one pick up. Tmr i try again.. Need it asap to do work sad.gif
*
its a 180W u can check it.

under-voltage usually will claim its toll sooner or later. It might not be good for the laptop itself. I'm not so sure if the laptop has enough transformer to increase the input W, although everything is in the power brick itself. Buy it online maybe?

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 17 2013, 07:12 PM)
i suspect so, too. these gaming laptops always work fine in 'optimal environments'.
that's normal at room temperature for cpu.
*
yeah~ but it's not a biggie when one can afford aircond well most of u are staying in an aircondition room already~

*
not so sure if they still carry in brand new units but u can check our garage sells other than if u don't mind some of us are letting go of their G55.

I'm also thinking of letting go of mine thinking of upgrading since GTX660M isn't gonna cut it in future games smile.gif served me well for more than a year and a happy user. It's just that time to move on~ maybe

hi, G55 users, i hav question, how to use that hidden 20GB 'recovery partition'?
*
by using u mean to use it or u want to optimize it to be as part of ur HDD. If

1). Use it as a normal partition. just format it~

2). Use the recovery like horns mention at boot up spam F9. Or to create recovery disk (5 DVD) u can download from asus website the software to make that.

hm.. you should try to reinstall the drivers in safe mode first before resetting it (especially graphic drivers).

maybe you should try what have been suggested at asus support website:
the above was taken from g55's driver page (for w8.1).

sorry i didn't try to update windows via store. z(to me in terms of OS, i still prefer clean install)
*
I think alot of people had problems when updating via air (online store, or updates and such)

Rather people who did clean install would experience less of this misfits~ I also do recommend people to do clean install it's a lot more problem free well only thing is need to backup every single thing in C: .

Finally. Guys, you can find plastidip black color spray at ace hardware locally at MYR50.90.

After almost 2 years the wear and tear on my g55 is really something now :/
*
cool biggrin.gif . i think i wanna grab one also for my g55. well see how it goes~ i rarely touch mine lol

May I know all this asus gaming notebook is available in MY? As I'll be heading to mid valley soon to fish some laptop biggrin.gif
*
Midvalley don't know they have a good IT store there or not. Rarely see people go mid to fish laptops~ usually it's digital mall or lyp only.

it's still in 5k price range (i've heard people getting it for less) sweet deals doesn't come often, need to check garage sells freq for offers

want to ask...m17x gtx 680m with i7 3820qm and asus rog i7 4700mq gtx770m
which one perform better?
price m17x higher bcoz got 3d
*
hmm. of course m17 performs better. Not because it is an AW but because of the specs itself.

i7 3820 vs i7 4770~
gtx 680m vs gtx 770m~

For GPU according to notebookcheck GTX 680M is 20% faster compared to GTX 770M and thats not even the GTX 680MX.

For CPU the 4700mq vs 3820. It's actually a really close call (i lied). but a winner is a winner the 3820qm performs better than 4700mq smile.gif

p/s: from the specs itself clearly can see the winner for performance. Believe me you don't want to see 3D 24/7 but that 120hz is really a plus tho. smile.gif money vs performance~

When ROG 750JH will be released here in Malaysia? I'm thinking to have a survey for this range of laptop at PC Fair this weekend... Any info about promotion/best deals on Asus? Thank u!
*
Not sure, don't know if there will be one. so long and never had any news. Just rumours thats all smile.gif

You can check at PC fair, but i think if they have it there for sure we will see user's here or our reseller here at garage sells selling one.

Regarding PC fair's i have similar opinion regarding this guy's insight smile.gif he is our very own forumer as well

PC fair insight

QUOTE(kahtsin @ Dec 6 2013, 02:22 AM)
guys.

what are the consequences that MIGHT happen if I remove the bottom cover, add a cooler blowing IN to the internal components and just use it like normal ?

In other words, removing the cover at the bottom for extra cooling/airflow lol

or is there any way to make DIY air suction to put behind the vents??

I just want to get the best ventilation / airflow

ANOTHER EDIT : http://apac.coolermaster.com/en/product/De...al-u3-plus.html
If I were to remove the bottom cover/lid for extra cooling/better ventilation, should I get this?
*
nope. depends on where u put ur G-series. in aircond room less dust (i remember tonberry laptop.. super clean coz always in aircond room) unlike mine i just recently open again (after 3 months) already can see dust accumulate. The only setback here is dust~ and AWESOME COOLNESS if u set it nicely

edit: there is actually suction fan for behind. i got one for my previous laptop. and as for the u3 yep quite a number of 15" and 17" are using that actually.

brand new hard disk, no OS at all.
press F2 managed go in for boot menu. boot option set to so call "P2:HL-DT-STDVDRAM..." still unable to boot from G53SX utilities dvd. i do suspect the dvd unable to load itself.
*
just in case we miss it. The utilities CD consist of how many DVD's the normal recovery Disk have up to 5 DVD's (i still have them) unless you fresh install it with new OS (either win 7 or win8) and make sure it's 64 bit biggrin.gif

QUOTE(kahtsin @ Dec 7 2013, 04:42 PM)
thanks man! Now im gonna remove the bottom cover!! Usually in air-conditioned room so... can lah.
*
Awesome . just wondering why do u need soo much airflow when ure in aircondition room. Get a good thermal paste will do the job well done already. what's ur average temp (cpu/gpu) atm

apparently, a better cooling (keeping the insides cool) can increase laptop's lifespan. Is that true?
*
depends on how long u want to keep that laptop around biggrin.gif. In aircond room is already good enough. Laptop doesn't tend to die easily either. As long as it doesnt hit near threshold temperature 24/7~ that is.

QUOTE(horns @ Dec 9 2013, 08:05 AM)
kamulee, there are usually 2 sets of cd's/dvd's:
1. Utility cd - includes drivers and apps installers that come with laptop;
2. Bootable recovery cd's /dvd's - this set of media is usually created by user manually using the recovery software found in the laptop. Usually this set consist of several cd's / dvd's

I think you have item 1 but not 2. You can try to put in the old hdds and see if you can create the recovery set.

Alternatively, just do a clean windows  install on the new hdds.
*
+1.

I prefer clean install. All those bloatwares gone~. Less hassle as well smile.gif.
