Yes, the lag occur even the laptop has been rebooted. I think the issue is resolve after the latest Nvidia drivers update.

good to know smile.gif well nvidia seems to have cause a few troubles towards its user this past few months. One of the best is GPU brick~ i forgot what version it was but yeah the update did brick a few GPU's lol

QUOTE(sonic_sphere @ Nov 5 2013, 02:46 AM)
hi all,
any G750JX user here? i'm looking forward to buy this model... actually i'm not really a gamer, i need this kind of laptop for my work. i'm more into video editing (premiere, after effects, etc...)

any advice on how and where to get this model, as i really need to have a look and test first before buy...

thank u!
*
yeah u can check our owners list at the front page for owners of g750 and could ask them personally for their reviews on the laptop. Or you could go directly to lowyat plaza as horns has mentioned smile.gif

imho the g750 will serve it's purpose well for video editing and stuff. The silent cooling system is a plus actually since just in case u need to work in a silent secluded area at times and not being bothered by the sound of fan spinning biggrin.gif

QUOTE(tonberry_ax @ Nov 5 2013, 11:28 AM)
IMHO, 15" still a sweet spot for laptop. too bad AW dun have new 15" model  sad.gif
*
our g55 is 15" and is quite heavy to carry around still but i still find it fine for me to move around with it tho biggrin.gif. but i think for cooling system a 15" won't be sufficient to handle those high ends perfomance except they implement something new (which might be costly)

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 5 2013, 11:37 AM)
specifically for gaming, where cooling is important, 17" is the sweet spot, not 15" imo. if you care about portability, then 15" is much better. i carry my g55 from country to country instead of my aw lol!
*
i don't think i want to carry any 17" around lol. 15" is fine. But no not 17" waste too much energy just to carry the laptop itself lol.

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 5 2013, 10:03 PM)
yeah what a pity :/ now my g55 is for work only. it works very well smile.gif
true. it's no joke with 17" and its power brick and stuff :/

luckily for my current work purposes, my g55 is more than sufficient (for the next 2, 3 years).
*
Haha, each and everytime i plugged in my laptop with others they will be sure be in awe~ some even say if we have thousands of these can start to make house~ the size is very similar already lol!

QUOTE(sonic_sphere @ Nov 6 2013, 10:26 AM)
Thank you all for the feedback... Will go to lowyat this weekend... By the way, since im not really in rush, is there any possibility for Asus to launch a new model for gaming laptop (17") in these few weeks or months? Im afraid if i buy now, then after few weeks they come out with new one... Really dont like this kind of situation... Haha!
*
Few weeks i don't think so maybe few months probably next year there will be a newer model coming out. But we're not so sure ourselves since there are no rumours yet smile.gif you could check on the forum for sure if some rumours it will fly to us also~ but since the g750 is quite new i think only 2 months? even the jh haven't had any owners or didn't report in here so far or i missed them while i was away.

oh godd my G55VW speaker sound suddenly 'bunyi pecah' both speaker and headphone after using for 1 year 3 month. similar problem when using both VIA and razer surround

any advice guys ? (other than sending for warranty, of course !)
*
another option the way i do it. monitor hooked with HDMI cable~ then from monitor hooked with speaker .. so my monitor now do display(of course) and sound which means i disable VIA sound driver and forget about that lousy stuff~ so now my monitor is my sound driver + razer surround biggrin.gif which is awesome. For headphones i go for sony wireless 7.1 (the new version comes with 3.5mm jack and also wireless USB) which i gladly use. abandoning again the lousy driver~ lol.

biggrin.gif

QUOTE(horns @ Nov 8 2013, 01:07 AM)
yeah.. the price just stay at the top there :/ i thought of getting another set of crucial ballistix sport or g.skill ripjaw but i think i will stop dreaming too.

after comparing the price, i suggest you get it from local stores or local sellers. for now, they're relatively cheaper than getting them outside (with consideration of warranty).
if it's a hardware related issue, we have no choice to NOT suggest you sending it in to service center :/
*
i see i see.. ah too bad now my laptop left 8gb. my stock 4gb gave to a laptop back at home. coz super slow i also kesian see, after putting it in. really helps.

7K  make sense.. Dual quiet Cooling with GTX 780M and 3D Screen... hmm sound solid platinum to me..  still got disadvantage hard to maintenance sad.gif  but that why  2 year free service for, compensate  that lols..
*
if it's only 7k maybe yeah could consider but i don't think g750jh would be priced only 7k it's 7k++ which for a quiet cooling only and hard maintenance ain't gonna cut it for a gaming laptop. Especially not all ppl buying it will stay in air-cond room 24/7. I don't think i wan't to bring to asus SC every 3 months just to clean up the vents and the fans. Although i've seen what it look like for a laptop staying in air-cond room. It's totally clean compared to my area which is very dusty. =.="

In terms of specs, proc, gpu and ram. They are identical. Heck even the screen are identical smile.gif

The difference i would say is

1) the cooling system (For asus u might realize it's abit quiet compared to AW) Unless you get annoyed easily with sound of fan (and always stay in a secluded area where no aircond no fan at all just stagnant air) or in a very very very room or office yeah you could hear the difference. But rarely happens~ let's say asus wins here

2) the speaker and sound ( asus is well known for sucky sound ) can be seen on our previous G-series and i don't think they improved alot in this areas (correct me if i'm wrong) since i've seen the comparison (on youtube) not for g750 tho. But yeah alienware has better speakers with 7.1 integrated surround support. lets say AW wins here

3) the dvd player. looking at asus they provide with blu-ray multi combo DVD-rw where as AW only comes with super multi drive (i think this one is quite similar to our previous g55 series) well a plus is a plus indeed. so lets say asus wins here

4) the wifi. i'm not so sure what does the g750 comes with. but i'm pretty sure they don't put up with much effort on this also (probably) but looking at AW seems like they already provide with .ac 2 antennae wifi card. So lets say AW wins here

5) finally, warranty + the build itself. First of all, AW is well known for their capability to customize whilst ASUS is so against customization. They even (if i'm not mistaken) soldered both CPU and GPU on their g750 series. This is a drawback imho for gaming laptop enthusiast that prefers to upgrade stuff overtime instead of keep buying new laptop. Other than that ASUS is well known for their very fortified build (u want to disassemble? clean those fans and stuff? ) bring it to asus SC center. Whilst for AW users they can easily access those and clean those fan as they like. only our G75 series has easy access to the fans. In terms of warranty, i think AW does better in this field not saying that ASUS did a bad job but AW so far has better reputation if compared. Some might have better experience at asus SC but alot and alot i've seen has even better experience with AW. smile.gif AW do have their ups and downs as well smile.gif but nobody would buy their expensive warranty if they didn't live up to their name and so far people are still buying

For Pricing, I think AW will be quite abit more expensive compared to ASUS because of their premium service. Not that ASUS is dirt cheap either but yeah there will be price differences

p/s: this is my personal opinion. trying hard not to be biased. other's or alot out there might disagree with me but yeah this is my personal opinion based on what i've seen and read around.

Trying to find out whether is it possible to upgrade the wifi card and graphics card...   hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
Wow awesome smile.gif nice to know.

Yep wifi card can upgrade to .ac or whatever u want smile.gif horns did upgrade his (g55 series) to .ac and getting quite an excellent performance. graphic card unlikely. Ours is soldered. not sure yours tho but i think ASUS tend to solder stuff and make it permanent. If i recall correctly the latest flagship g750 series have CPU and GPU soldered. lol. Most likely your g75 has soldered GPU but still can upgrade CPU. smile.gif it's a good laptop apart from the customization.

edit : so i was wrong after reading a few post, it's not soldered (for g75) but then it might be a customized GPU. I think our G55 also has the same case (although ours was soldered) read around the forum to know more smile.gif very interesting indeed with some deep insights regarding ROG laptops

here is an interesting thread to read regarding G75 smile.gif Asus G75 GPU upgrade

fair comments smile.gif (indeed you're trying very hard not to give biased comments lol!)
yes you can swap the wifi; unfortunately not the gpu. (although it's not soldered, it has a non-standard form factor).  also, you need modded bios with compatible vbios.
*
lol yeah i tried i tried. Well that's what we call as honest! hahaha.

--

yeah =.=" also even if you could swap it there would not be enough space (the GTX680M) is alot bigger compared to the GTX670M. It would hit the HDD bay or even if u use 1.8"HDD heatsink would need to be customized as GTX680 is taller compared to GTX670M. There are alot of customization hardware work needed and it might still not work as expected (vbios mod is needed) as i've read somewhere that G75 bios only carries 660m and g670m vbios. So yeah there goes

true, it's an overkill and costly just to fit 680m/780m card in a g75. (with the same money you can get g750jh anytime).
*
haha and another this is like modding a kancil to run more than 180km/h A HUGE modification is needed~ lol. from what i've read on nbr forums it's like an already impossible task. I've seen alot of people actually are very interested in modding if they are able to. But too bad~ u want upgrade, buy a new laptop.

There is another potential issue: power to drive the card. I have read that a guy that attempted to do the modding had to sacrifice a number of components before enough power could be supplied to the gpu.

Long story short: its a hardcore modding. Again, very risky because no photos were shown as proof of that mod being working (well.. I still dont think its possible to reassemble the laptop after such mod)
*
use 240W power brick but not sure if the mobo can regulate the power~ most probably it would have long term effect or it would be short term as well~ lol. sacrificing a number of components is not ideal~ in many ways lol

he should show that the laptop would POST if by putting in the upgraded GPU. lol that would help! but yeah not possible to reassemble the laptop after such mod.. exactly!

G750 wifi is Killer wireless compare to broadcom for AW.
*
broadcom from AW is .ac smile.gif it's already in a whole different level. It now all comes down to the router. Atleast you can get yourself an asus .ac router (that cost around MYR800) and pair it with .ac and compare with killer-N wireless smile.gif that would do the job.

.. and this is why you should get a g750jh (read the award section biggrin.gif)

Because of its high system noise and throttling under full load -< reason ASUS won.

so i was wondering throttling under full load? i guess those 4800MQ is holding back the whole system? or izzit the bios that was not matured. Weird coz they have already similar specs~

and again asus will win the low noise section smile.gif asus is well known for it's cooling system. If only they are customize friendly but again asus is around 400euros cheaper compared to AW~ those premium really is pricey

yeah. dell is somewhat cautious about their haswell machines. however, if the laptop is operating in a good environment (i.e. air-cond'ed room), then i guess it's fine. (s'pore units are overclocked 4ghz versions).

get the g750 if you just aim for simple hdd and ram upgrades in near future. it's a good one. (again, by saying it good, make sure you check all the parts/components first; lemons do exist so make sure you really get a good one to save headaches later on)
*
Well i'd say all high end laptops are build (even with the best cooling system) meant for cold countries or air conditioned room. of course operating at 70C - 80C are fine but it's not the best. I'm just taking a wild guess, DELL in spore have lower complaints regarding high temp compared to Malaysia that's why they dare to put out 4Ghz OC version there. Who knows, i'm pretty sure they do make statistic on what problem customers in each country will always complain.

True i myself would also consider g750 for the pricing and the cooling system + the design is sleek. I'd be a happy bird if i got one myself~ lol. well of course i would want that JH version which is still by far still rumors~
