Haven solve mah, already told u that i cant trust Asus SC anymore. Will see u around this weekend  smile.gif
For me bf4 is a bit of disappointment. There's still have a lot of improvement need to implement, but i like the swimming and ladder climbing part. Hopefully the bugs it will all fix when the premium is out.

Hi guys,

Proud owner of G55vw here. Need some advice from fellow owners.

I had been using the laptop for almost 16 months now and everything is good until recently. My original 1tb hard disk (now as secondary drive) is having problem. It easily goes up to 100%  everytime under some average duty task. (like winrar). Most importantli it come out with some clicking sound.

So I think it is  dying. My question is

1. Can I claim warranty under such situation? The hdd still function but quiet obvious it can be dead anytime soon.
2. Asus warranty is two years. However, if I wanted to claim warranty, can I go to the hdd manufacturer, instead ASUS ? I don't want to lose my laptop for couple of months.
*
hi usually for winrar mine also goes up to 100% usage, since extracting winrar is a heavy task i could say (well for files above 1gb or usually on my side larger than that), Say i'm extracting + watching a movie from the same HDD the movie would sometime stutter occasionally biggrin.gif no worries there. But clicking sounds means it's dying. backup before anything goes wrong rest follow what horns says biggrin.gif

QUOTE(activexxx @ Oct 4 2013, 01:05 PM)
anyone here using SSD here? what SSD brand is best compatible to asus laptop?
*
biggrin.gif we've been using SSD all along .. what horns has been suggesting are those with decent to good performance and is the most common ones to not bring you any trouble in the near future. I'm using intel 520 series.

Then I should get a SSD planted in my laptop. Currently, Scandisk and Plextor brand is considered.

If I were to run a virtual image (100GB of size), is it recommended to copy the virtual image into the ssd drive or the normal hdd? I only think of installing the OS and VirtualBox in my SSD drive. If I were to put the image, i'm afraid it is not enough space.
*
if u buy the crucial m500 1TB SSD..can put all those stuff in SSD.. why not rclxms.gif

but anything else, like what i'm doing only OS and important stuff in SSD coz i only get 120GB

use a wet cloth and carefully wipe the keyboard when the laptop is turned off? afaik, it's not hard to clean it up.
i think you have issues with your headphone (well.. apparently). i have steelseries siberia 1 and 2, and 7h. all are still working fine.
*
haha yeah biggrin.gif thanks for the brief but very useful hint. Opens my eye. I even did some reading on that right after you told me. haha.

*
if dead silence yeah normal. But i rarely hear mine coz my area is never dead silence even at 5 am~ very sad.. lol. But it shouldn't be that loud til if u are few meters away can hear. Only when u sit and using your laptop then u can hear it. Should be normal unless there is TACK TACK TACK sound~ that is the sound of HDD dying

hi need some advice, i got a g75vx 3d
just to know how to watch 3d movies or anything about 3d...
tested stock 3d streoscopic no problem...just donno how to activate the IR Emitter
i visited this website try to watch 3d vision but couldnt make it...
http://www.3dvisionlive.com
*
i thought u need nvidia glass for that? i'm not so sure tho. coz for 3D i use my 3D monitor and download 3D movies then on the monitor set 3D setting either to top-bottom ,side-by-side, 2D -> 3D or frame sequential.

I'll do some reading on that, although i'm pretty sure for IR emitter you might need those nvidia 3D glass coz it comes as a set the 3D glass + IR emitter (which is plugged in into your laptop)

tonberry_ax eh at some part of the pics i can see my ipad there~ hahaha.. yellow yellow colour..

ah sure also will put on the front page biggrin.gif

welcoming anyone from the G75 G750 or G46 to rip apart their laptop~ so we can show off at the front page :claps:

regarding the coolaboratory i've read that you can actually use it but make sure it won't be spilled at all to the pins beside the GPU or CPU (if any) or it will trigger the MOBO safety for short circuit ( which i think is cleverly built if not another MOBO will fry~ coz of short circuit.. go asus go!)

eh tonberry i think i want to try that coolaboratory on my laptop~ to see hows the performance compared to my IC diamond 24 carat

Sorry for stacking the mobo on ur ipad lol....

IMHO is the GPU side more sensitive, that's y it have problem booting up. If apply too less cant see the effect... Very hard la  doh.gif  doh.gif

That's the last piece of my coollaboratory thermal compound, wasted 75% of this laptop aduhhhh  doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif

But if u ask me, i would say performance wise coollaboratory took better advantage than the IC diamond. I tried both on desktop already...

Wait for horn come back 1st, ask him to help me install my 3rd antenna. we do lan party lar...  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
*
haha no prob no prob.. the casing itself is very durable~ OTTERBOX FTW! lol.. somemore it works very well as a bumper for the mobo, very safe on top of it lol

yep, since there is some pins sticking out compared to CPU

ah thats the last piece ah.. i think when u put it no need to spread it. Just put it in the middle will auto spread and won't touch the pins~ maybe la maybe.. i think i could do it.. lol i think ~ since i have alot of IC diamond extras just in case it won't work

haha

--

i have the rough idea actually, but scare it would cause more problem. See at the bottom of your screen there is 2 rubber which covers the screws. I think just take out that rubber and unscrew those 2 screws then can proceed from there~

So for the G750, is the price really worth the performance?

And I have never actually tried to put something of that weight in my backpack and walk around. Wonder if it is that heavy.

Also heard that new models will be out in Malaysia this mid/end of October. I sure hope that's the cheaper version of G750.
*
Depends on which model you're going for there is the JX model and the JH model. For JX model i think can get less than 5K which is really good but comes with 770M for JH models comes with 780M but still below 6K. It all goes down to which is easier to maintain, better cooling, better upgradeability and lastly outer looks (well there is more i think but this is the major ones i will look at initially)

also the weight for G55 + the brick like charger can consider you're carrying 5KG everyday. G750 is i think alot more heavier since it's 17" biggrin.gif.

not so sure about newer models haven't seen any members post about it yet. smile.gif we'll see how it goes. + it's already can consider mid october right now.

QUOTE(aimanace94 @ Oct 10 2013, 10:09 PM)
hey everyone noob question here !

1) if I send my g55 to asus centre lowyat can they remove all the virus inside my laptop without formatting ?

2) my g55vw was initially win7 until i digital download win8 earlier this year . if I factory reset , will it move back to win7 or the earliest version of win8 ?

thanks in advance !
*
1) Not sure, i think they will just format it. Don't think they have time to fix virus (Just use antivirus [a decent one such as kaspersky] would help you solve the problem)

2) Well windows 8 have factory reset option if i'm not mistaken. Where as win7 will use recovery disc instead. So if you use your 5 DVD recovery disc it will go back to your initial windows which is win7 but if you use win8 then win8 it is.

I am using the G750 JH model. Indeed it is very heavy together with the charger but the performance you get is pretty much quite worth it to me.

mind sharing the price you get it for? coz alot might be wondering how much is it biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info.. But wow. That is expensive.. Any special addons? Or is it stock.. Seems like getting msi is cheaper if according to that price.. Or even can get alienware

I don't know if I'm not using the currency converter right but isn't that close to RM 10k?

Referring to how heavy it is, have you carried it to class or something?

Its around 9k.. But heck its exp actually..hmm..

There is no special add on and no laptop bags or anything extra given. Just the standard package JH non 3d version model. I intend to get MSI initially but when in the end still go for Asus due to the design. I love the matt on the cover and the aluminum near the keyboard.
FYI, in AU this JH specs is more cheaper than Allienware and the storage on the standard specs is good enuff for me.
*
Ic.. I guess if u get it from somewhere else might be cheaper.. Maybe not from AU? Not so sure tho.. Have to recheck first.. But well u got it already..the matte design is i think even on our g55 which is nice.. But have to have extra care.. rclxms.gif

QUOTE(-VigRouX- @ Oct 12 2013, 11:03 PM)
Yeah the design really got me hooked. I kinda hope there's a cheaper version of that model. spending Rm5.2k - rm5.5k on a single laptop is kinda too much.
*
Its always portability vs performance.. smile.gif u cant have it both ways for a cheaper price. People spend up more than 5.5k for a single laptop even. Mine is close to 5k with upgrades. Well since i consider the portability, but well the performance is abit outdated compared to what newer generations laptop came out with. Maybe th g46 is within ur budget i think the design is quite similar if thats what ure looking for instead.

Hi guys,

New owner of the G750JX here biggrin.gif

Still learning the ropes for Windows 8, but the laptop is a BEAST to say the least !

Not the biggest fan of the bundled mouse tho, there are 2 additional keys at the thumbrest area, always accidentally press it during usage of mouse. !

Feel free to add me up on the owners list please, thanks!
*
Hi, sorry for the very delayed reply. But may i know the full version of your awesome G750JX? biggrin.gif is it the same model as our previous owners?

QUOTE(KimRoss @ Oct 16 2013, 12:39 AM)
So far, these are my very early thoughts on the machine,

It's absolutely frigging amazing, runs very cool, barely audible fans, but if you are in a quiet room playing in mute (which really, will never happen) then you are able to hear it. If you have so much as your airconditioning on, then you won't be able to hear it.

Although it is a dual fan set-up, the fan on the left side spins faster and more frequently. (left side when you are facing the monitor) . I have read on another forum that this is the fan for the GPU.

There are some minor hissing sounds if you plug in your headphones, (or the bundled Siberia headphones) but the ROG forums are saying using the maxxaudio should sort it out.

There are so far really no major negative points to be given at all, it is an absolute delight to use. and I like that it has quite an understated design, nothing too flashy (this is a subjective opinion).

But if I am really trying to pick a nit here, I would say the webcam is quite mediocre. I found that it is only 0.9 Megapixels. Very minor if it is almost hardly used like in my senario, but you know, ugh, you never know when HD webcam is needed. Ugh. Right.

AHUHEUHEA, so far so good from this G750 owner.

Toodles !
*
Thats the one of the +1 for asus gaming laptop they usually runs cool while not producing that much of noise from the fan.

Left side for G55 is the GPU not so sure for G750 tho. Probably it is for the GPU as well but weird coz CPU has higher temp~ should be CPU spinning more freq.

Is the g750 still using the crappy VIa audio driver for audio? coz it's seriously very crappy back when the G55 is very new, we even had to put up guide on how to fix audio issue.

It looks classy in its own way biggrin.gif i know. Thats the one cool thing about G-series~ but for those who likes flashy stuff there are alot of other options out there.~ For dull looking laptops there is clevo, sager~ sweat.gif

I never really bothered with the webcam. I forgot even that our G55 has a webcam~ now with phones getting smarter and smarter by the day inclusive of excellent cameras yeah i tend to forget that feature, but true never know when HD webcam is needed brows.gif

Welcome to the ASUS G-series club biggrin.gif

Have no ideas on that, never occurred to me while i was using win8 back then or i didn't realize but i think never occurred i usually stayed up late so when it's quite i should be able to hear it if it makes that sound.

QUOTE(xAmdx @ Oct 31 2013, 08:21 AM)
I think I am facing the same issue as you, I had upgrade to win 8.1 and upgrade the GPU drivers. Feel the whole pc had some lag when switching program.
*
One reason i stick to win7 lol. Seems like i have alot of trouble when using win8 back then. Although i had to admit the boot time is fast, file transfer is fast compared with win7 but the stability of win7 is a bliss. I'm not giving that away~

Regarding the lag when switching programs, does it occur even when the laptop has been rebooted?
