I just tested 4790ks and 4690ks ES chips using Maximus VII hero

1 out of 5 4790Ks did superpi 32m at 5ghz 4c at 1.365V and the rest not stable even at 1.4v to 1.42v
5 out of 5 4690Ks doesn't boot 5ghz 4c 1.365 to 1.42.

EDIT: win7 os for testing

It's ES anyway. We haven't seen retail clocking so far.

i7 4970K Review by Tomshardware.

Same voltage, same clockspeed, the so called Next Generation polimer TIM only 6'C cooler than 4770k crap TIM? What a joke.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i...nce,3845-2.html

Might as well delid the damn 4770k rather than 'upgrade' to 4970k. unsure.gif

my unit reached 4.7ghz at 1.35vcore but can't even run my video encoding test.

4.6ghz seems to be stable at 1.3vcore.

ES. Findings are like what you saw on the other sites.

Hopefully retail units would be better.

Don't worry as most review sites managed to get around 4.6-4.7 max on air/ water. I'm interested to know more about its mem ocing.

As usual, I will try my best updating this thread as frequent as possible.
