Considering this article came out waaaay before the phone was available anywhere, it's old and linked many times already in the HTC One threads.

Nexus devices were never meant for every day users, and not solely for the "Google Experience". It is a stable hardware platform for a new version of Android that developers can use to create compatible apps.

this is totally BS. my entire family of non nerds are all using Nexus devices and they love it. before that it's HTC wildfire, HTC desire, HTC desire HD, Samsuck S2, iphone 4 / 4s, then Galaxy Nexus, then Nexus 4 and would certainly choose a vanilla android after that also.

the ONE with stock android is certainly an upgrade option if they hadn't bought the Nexus 4, we hated HTC since they ditched the DHD's ICS update, and hated HTC's non-sense, but loved their build quality when we saw the One X, and we all biting our fingers when we touched that gorgeous ONE, too bad it's not stock, now we will wait and see whether we can get our hands on the vanilla ONE

I did not say Nexus devices won't be liked by the masses, I said Nexus devices were made with developers in mind.... Nexus devices like I said provides developers with a stable hardware platform with the very latest versions of Android. A Nexus device usually sets the trend for what SoC will be most used for the following year. Nowhere in my post did I say that a Nexus device would not appeal to mainstream users.

use the hair dryer heat the screen gap under front camera
and clamp it make it screen nice.... other than that issue my htc one is perfect XD

Thank you. I learned a lot from this . Basicly its a rant + review + a bit of history lesson on why HTC is where it is today. The take home for this is that new Generation phones like s4 and HTC One support 5ghz wifi(but router must support also). If you want a good reception phone with strong signals , go for Nokia.

BTW the boot loader will show relock not locked as default
Once you unlock BL HTC is already aware phone has being unlock. Pointless to relock back

Does anyone know how to solve the location problem (i.e. Google map can't detect your current location), which happens after the previous update?

Strange some of you faces such an issue
I don't have such a problem even on previous 707.16 rom
I am now on Android HD rom with ElementalX kernel. Perfect combo.

1 - Update your play store to version 4.1.10. Currently 4.1.6.
2- Check your build version under settings in Play Store App.
3- If you don't want to wait, you can use the link above to download the manual update.
4- Once done, Install and check whether the Play Store version is indeed 4.1.10.
5- Reboot and after that it should be fine.

Mine is working fine since I did the fix yesterday. Hope that helps. Do convey your thanks to uncle_toufu.

It all depends on what Google wants to optimize for the HTC One. The hardware is HTC's, but Google has to make everything work cos updates come directly from them. So it's in Google's best interest to have as many proper drivers to take advantage of all the hardware. It's also in HTC's best interest cos frankly they need the money. They may not do much marketing on it, but it will still sell.

Yay! So I called the Service Centre today and they told me that I should expect a new exchange on Tuesday, so excited but I also worried of what I am getting back. Such mixed feeling =(
