7970 Dual-X is RM1299. If you have some spare, I'd personally recommend the MSI 7970 Lighting Boost Edition which is around RM14XX.

The i5 3570k(Around RM700) can be overclocked safely to 4.4-4.5Ghz with no problems. I wouldn't worry about future-proofing too much, especially not when you can save a ton without it(3770k is close to 1k iirc) as technology moves too fast these days to tell what's going to happen 2months later. I'd recommend getting the i5 and a better GPU.

you might want to consider yourself a used set if that the case.

I saw plenty of good used unit around RM500.

A cap ayam PSU definitely not recommended.
A download rig often kills a HDD fast since it most likely operate 24/7. So a better HDD grade will be recommended, but cost slightly more expensive.

Depends, hardcore download geek may open the download client like non-stop.
Personally just set the schedule start after midnight and stop at morning 8am.

i've been thinking to upgrade my mobo and proc. What is the best bang for the buck for that combo? i want to change the mobo and proc only, the rest will use my old part (as in my sig). My budget below RM1000. i prefer amd, but amd

oh, sorry forgot to mention. i will be using this pc for gaming + entertainment (connect to tv to watch movies). will do some oc if amd, but no for intel (will learn to oc in the future, not now) huhu

Thanks for the feedback! I was wondering if topping up RM200 or so to put in a Core i5 instead be worthwhile for minor photo editing and multi-tasking purposes?

for me ill consider increasing size of RAM in for multi-tasking and photo editing because these two takes up more RAM than processing power AFAIK.
