Yes. He is right, and I was wrong.
According to what Dell Specialist in Chia said, he said that half-sized SSD will work, something like picture below:

But then someone asking to him that "Is there any solution to install SSD without taking HDD?"
He replied, "The only solution is since there is no ODD, so can try to use empty ODD space to put a SSD, but maybe problem like cannot detect or not compatible might occur."

Normal size SSD sure can, as long as is 7mm type. mSATA not sure. You can't see my picture above?
So take out HDD put SSD, then HDD as ext HDD rclxms.gif

I tried to look at the user manual but nothing stated about the size of the mSata. sad.gif
Since kam_4160 have shown in his post above, I think I will scrap the idea of installing a mSata and get a SSD instead. hmm.gif

I have been thinking about this option for a very long time but now I know that the mSata size for this laptop is kinda odd.
kam_4160, do you have any idea where can by that mSata?

maybe perhaps any owner of the highest spec for this laptop can help by taking off the mSata and identify the brand and model of the mSata. from there we should be able to find the mSata in malaysia market.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Dear Vostro 5460 user:

DON't BUY half-sized mSATA SSD. This is because its BIOS itself doesn't support using MSATA SSD as boot-up, only can be used as cache. If you really want a cache mSATA, u should buy ultrabook version.
