i was lucky that my home area subang jaya was one of the few where ABN started putting up their cables. So we got 1 month of free trial and installation.

sadly most of the channels be it promoted as 50chns but 60% of them are international non English channels.

another thing worse is that, unifi solves (modem blowing problem via lightning) but one day i came home, my ABN modem was fried.... the technician came to my house and says that this motorolla modem turns into fries easily... so im not sure how reliable their products are.

so if the modem easily gets damaged. will lead to internet disruption.

just my opinion, but i do hope TM would consider lowering their pricing.

TM has no obligation to do so because they enjoy almost full monopoly in Malaysian fixed line broadband internet market.

With such a small coverage for ABN, you think they'll be moved from their cozy position?

Sorry, I have lots of question in my mind which I hope you can answer. Thanks.

Is lightning strike covered by warranty? Did ABN replace the cable modem? What about the top box? Was it damaged by lightning too? Can the TV still work without the cable modem?

They are solely rely on TM to provide them the bandwidth, quality wise in term of latency and jitter will be very similar to Unifi... Well depends how "big" is their trunk to TM.

atm, as4788 is the only provider.

No redundancy, that's pretty lame.

Just got my 10 Mbps ABNxcess Internet installed today at JB. So far, the speed is excellent for me. However, the TV can only be activated tomorrow as told.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2974703381

The RM500 rebate will be spread over 10 months. To be eligible, you must present your existing broadband bill (from other Telcos) for verification. That means the first 10 months' payment will be RM55 per month and the rest will be RM105 (including 6% tax). Also, the contract period is 2 years and premature termination will incur a RM500 penalty. Free installation during this promotion period, but don't know will last for how long.

Will try out for a week before deciding to terminate my 4 Mbps Streamyx.

Tried this morning at "www.speedtest.my", the Download is 9.587 Mbps and Upload is 0.966 Mbps. Sorry no screen shot from "www.speedtest.my". So, basically, the speed is almost the same, whether local or international.

They told me it's the standard 6% Malaysian government tax. I'd also remember paying this tax for other services as well previously, although there are some establishments which don't impose this tax at the moment. ISP is ABNxcess.

I also don't know why my ISP is unnamed and it seems to be located in Brunei. rclxub.gif

This is standard from all ISP, unless yours is a business subscription. Otherwise, the upload speed is usually 1/10 of the download speed. This is to save their bandwidth.

1 thing I'd realized is that they use their own modified (and much restricted) version of the firmware on their MOTOROLA cable modem so that you cannot make any changes (like the DNS and port settings), except only the WiFi encryption type and admin password.
