Malaysians will only know once their subscribers grow in number and their network expands. Now they're just leasing lines from TM wholesale and reselling them.

We'll have to wait and see if their cable DOCSIS network will be able to handle large number of users in future.

That's true. However, I believe they will maintain their standard because they would have spent a lot on their infrastructure since they are laying their own coaxial cables throughout the country. The only fear is will they increase their charges exorbitantly in future?

I'm not allowed to include attachment in my posts due to my low post count. Anyway, they run their own main coaxial cable on those lamp posts along the stretch of road outside my house. Thereafter, they installed a splitter from the main coaxial cable just outside my house and from the splitter, they then tapped a new coaxial cable into my house via my attic below the roof tiles. Thereafter, it's onward into my house via a small opening at the false ceiling, down the staircase wall and into my living room.

TM has hidden plans to lower their Unifi rates to par with the ABNxcess RM99 promotion offer should it becomes widely deployed.

ABNxcess success will spur competition for other cow ISPs to budge.

Should it not happen, then TM will be reluctant to adjust their prices due to lack of competition. They are employing a wait and see attitude.

In the long term, Internet charges will be lowered due to competition, which is the trend in all countries. The infrastructures are already there and had been paid. So, it will be a waste if they don't generate more income for the telcos by luring more customers with ever attractive pricings.

Fibre and coaxial are the most ideal technologies for end-users at the moment, though Fibre has an added advantage for future expansion capability. Unlike mobile broadband technologies, which are still evolving, there seems to be not much progress for further technological advancements to landed lines beyond Fibre.

I doubt so. Presently it's only available in Selangor and Johor Bahru. You can give them a call at 1300-223399 to inquire.

If they give upload less than the download, then this could be a xDSL solution, which is most probably you are not in High speed ISP.

Thanks for the information. Learnt something today.

What if the cable modem supplied by ABNxcess is DOCSIS 2.0? Is your explanation on different channels/lanes still applicable?
*
currently ABN only provide Docsis 2.0 modem.
