Any current owners of the Y410P?

Need assistance on solving the intermittent WiFi problem. Tried disabling IPv6 but no luck at all.

Guys, anyone having problem with shutting down or restarting?

It'll shutdown as normal, screen dim, then hangs there while the power button still lighted.


Using Windows 8.1.

I may get the 510 in April. Do you think a new model is coming soon this year?

You better do a full scan for malware on your computer. I just recovered from a bootkit/rootkit virus. The symptoms for mine was the same. Really long shutdown. I only discovered the malware through Comoro Killswitch (unknown process).

If it isn't malware then update all the 8.1 drivers from Lenovo's website.

What did u use to scan? Which software?
When i shutdown, it'll turn off the screen but the fan & keyboard light is still on.
Only when i insert or remove any usb plug, then it'll totally shutdown. Kinda weird.
I updated all drivers already, tried most of the solution except scanning for malware.

My dolby home theater won't function anymore.. weird
it just couldn't detect the music playing (the visualisation graph is empty, nothing when music is playing.. it doesn't suppose to be like this)..
Is there something wrong with my driver or what? I'm still running on win8 64bit, didn't upgrade to 8.1.

I've problem with the screen brightness too -.- when I try to adjust it automatically dim it to the lowest and I can only readjust it when I reboot the laptop/restart (can only adjust at the boot-up screen)

Easiest way is for you to go download Comodo Cleaning Essentials. Then run killswitch. See how many unknown process you have running. If things like chrome or firefox or explorer is unknown, then there is a good chance that you have an infection. Scan with a virus scanner like stinger and spybot.

Ya my computer was also like yours, screen off and fan and keyboard light is on. sometimes it takes more than 10mins to go all off. After getting rid of the malware now after all window and driver updates it shutdown in a few seconds and starts in less than 1min (using msata).

I see. Will try later on. I'm using norton Internet security btw, showed clean everytime i scan.
This problem started only after i update to Windows 8.1.




Btw, anyone know if it's worth it to change to WD Black 2 (which have 120GB SSD + 1TB HDD inside), from Plextor M5P 256GB? I'm having problem with space now.

hi guys, I seem to have some problem with my usb 3 ports in my y580.
It don't seem to be operating at usb3 speed as the transfer speed is quite low..

Any way to fix it? tried reinstalling the driver..

does y510p have gigabit lan?

For everyone using windows 8.1, my personal suggestion is to down grade to win8.0, the driver for 8.1 is not stable, while 8.0 smooth like butter.

Im using y410p with samsung ssd120gb + 1tb hdd. So far so good, wifi also perfect.

The only problem i have with 8.1 is this shutdown/restart.

How to downgrade to Win 8?

Mine's the total opposite. No more problems after upgrading to 8.1

can you teach me how to transfer the whole OS to the SSD?

Apparently it's not the Win 8.1 problem.
Lenovo called me, to check my laptop with Lenovo Solution Centre.
My PCI Express failed the checking test, so they advised me to send to serv ctr to repair.
