Minne will reach 98c on both CPU and GPU lol...gonna ask lenovo to repaste one day.

Any more Y410p/Y510p can share their GPU/CPU temp..cuz want to make sure its my unit issue before sending it to service..

My GPU peaked at 95c and CPU 98c when BF3.....

98c GPU when Furmark...

got reach until 97+c ? lol...1st time buy gaming laptop....these temp scares me..

The only way to play BF3 @ 1080p is to underclock the CPU to 2.0 Ghz from 2.4Ghz...or else it will throttle and causes the screen to flicker....

After underclock also hover around 95c

Normal I got 83-88c only but if push CPU 100% and OC GPU can get up to 95c. I never got any screen flicker or crash

1st time buying gaming notebook..worry about the temps =(

When the laptop begins to flicker black in black out it usually tells the sign of overheating is it ?

I'm using Y580, I don't see any problem even when it heats up to 100'C... I think it's probably the driver if it's not hardware issue causing the flicker... if it's hardware issue, you should be able to claim warranty, the temp is still below max temp, should not give problem.

Hello there guys. I am using Lenovo IdeaPad Y480. So let me get directly into the topic. It all started few days back when i booted the laptop from hibernation. The problem I am facing now is that there is sort of a vertical line at the bottom part of the screen, it changes colours sometime from red to green. Another problem is the graphic card which is Nvidia 650M is not detected anymore. It is only read as Standard VGA Adaptor in the device manager other than the Intel HD Onboard graphics. I tried uninstalling the Nvidia drivers and reinstalling it back but to no avail. The installation will fail and it is as if there is no more working graphic card in the laptop unless the onboard ones. cry.gif  So am i dealing with a faulty graphic card guys? hmm.gif I tried booting the laptop in other screen and there was no vertical line on there, only on the laptop screen. Help me to clarify this problem guys. If it is a graphic card problem. What is the best I can do to solve it?Thanks  icon_question.gif

it looks to me you're facing multiple failure. One, the GPU gone missing. have you tried restarting? I understand you re-installed the driver, so perhaps you tried restarting.

As for the vertical line on screen, it's either your screen having problem or connection from the board to screen is damaged.

In any case, I would go for warranty claims...

It's fine unless you are claiming from Lenovo international, not Lenovo Malaysia... as long as you do the claim in Malaysia, nothing to worry about.

i think is hardware , because..

1st case , running at normal 2.4Ghz, game flickers, temperature 97-98...i think it cutting my video feed to prevent 100c.

After that, i terus underclock to 2.1 Ghz, flicker stops...temps go to 95c

Need do more testing on this

Thanks for your replies guys. I guess I have to send my laptop for warranty claim then, hope they will replace the parts with no hassle. It looks like there are a lot of users reporting GPU problem too. Anybody who had sent their laptop for warranty claim to Lenovo Service Centers mind to share their experiences? :-)

standard for normal air flow on lenovo y series notebook.

if u want a super cool airflow system, need to sacrifice the weight..just like my last G series Asus ROG notebook. very heavy. but super cool. same with alienware..better cooling..but yes..feeling like bringing bricks all the time.

i dont tried Razer Blade yet..wonder how they can deal with the temperature with that super thin form factor.

Wireless LAN Driver (CyberTan/Broadcom, Liteon/Atheros) for Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit)
this, BTW I hope we can change to Intel Wi-Fi card...lol
the poor signal is due to the antenna I think, we got only two if compare to other laptop which got three
and also atheros wi-fi card is not so good la....

aih..that's so sad. can't even play in my room like this.. zz

Planning to upgrade the Atheros card with an Intel card... Either 7260 or 6205... Will post the results after i finish bargaining with the eBay seller from China... hmm.gif
While the antenna does have effect on the signal strength but will have to look at the wifi card as well. And if your laptop wifi not running at Wireless N protocol which support the multi T:R stream then 1 antenna is enough for a/b/g, the number of stream does limited by the numbers of antenna but only applies on N (2 needed) and AC (3 needed) protocol, go have a read on MIMO Antenna on how things work.
