Since you are an old time user smile.gif would like to get your POV and others as well

I'm on streamyx now but contemplating to upgrade to either Unifi or IPTV (Astro + Maxis Fiber).

How had Maxis been, do they resolve issues fast. Looking at 2-3 pages ago of this thread, is kinda scary, where it takes them so long to fix.

Is the torrent throttle real? how long it gets? normally for 10Mb line, one should be about to get download speed to around 1MBps, so is yours close to that, and how low it gets during the throttle period (8pm -2am?)

Thanks and ALL

Hhmmm im from Subang Area, so far the only Maxis issue I face is the routing problem happens like last 2 weeks? within 3-5 days its settled for me.

The default router that comes with maxis (Thomsan TG784n) is lousy, random reboot 2-3 times a week but after all this years it seems like it only happens maybe 1-2 times a month now (They remotely upgraded the firmware). Not many GUI options in the router config page, mostly have to be done on Telnet command. Im still using the router lazy to change, need to use the VOIP service.

To me torrent runs on full speed, im on private tracker didn't really notice any throttle on my end. download speed is top at 1mb down /1mb up

Notice most of the time when they are doing some service/ service down its mostly around 1am-2am.

I think that's about it

Thanks IccyAsd, that do give some confidence. I'm from Subang as well smile.gif

I do alot of work from home, so having downtime, would make me crazy. Streamyx been awesome, no issues what so ever, last 10yrs. Torrent runs perfect for my 1M line (130kBps). Youtube streaming up to 360k, no buffering.

Cheers

I am on Maxis and below are some consideration before I migrated from Unifi to Maxis

a) BTU kaput and need replacement - the procedure will take ages, Workaround is to find backup BTU (same brand) and configure it your self.

b) Maxis router - very sucky in term of torrenting and WiFi, but easy solution. It can be replaced with custom router

c) Fiber network at your place down, this will take ages too since priority will be given to Unifi subscriber.

Thanks for Point 1 and 2.. My place has fiber, so the application process should be speedy, I presume

If you want to torrent, you need to request for public ip once your installation is done. Without it, you wont be torrenting.

I think FTTH is ok with me so far. Only complaint would be slow loading of video shared on FB and sometimes even Youtube at night.

I work from home. Early subscriber to Maxis FTTH.
The consistency and connection is not good. Some days are okay, some days have connection problem.

My VPN will keep connecting and disconnect. If during teleconference, mad.gif
Then the speed cap at night is also BS. I normally suft web at night so getting capped between 8pm - 1am is so wrong.

Good is torrenting between 1am and 8pm is nice. Usually 1MB/s even with public tracker (just need to have seed).

When I move house, I will probably go to Unifi. Consistency is more important to me since I don't need to have such a fast connection. I want 5mbps 24/7.
No use having 10 mbps when you sleep but only 364kbps when you have free time to surf the net at night.

BTW I never have problem with my router. never reboot or overheat. no laptop cooler

Maxis is the worst broadband provider. Stupid f***ers who don't bother about customers. They can close the f***ing company for all i care. The first person who should be sacked is the CEO, then followed by the technical head.

I think with private IP, we are also able to do torrenting. Previously I was on private IP and my torrent is flying the whole day (even at 8pm). However I realized the stock Maxis gateway (Thomson)was not able to do port forwarding to my static IP server. But with TPlink router, no issue on port forwarding.

But right now I have move to public IP as well to allow me to access the router from office.

My connection just went down on me. Where are by the way? I'm at Damansara Damai, PJ. Restarted everyhing, router, BTU and logged into the Huawei BTU and under WAN status, ptm1.209 is connecting, all others VLANs are connected, 821, 822 and 621.

Total and utter disconnection. Everythings lights up as they should on the BTU, and upon logging in into the BTU, and checking the status, VLAN 209 is stuck at connecting

There's currently an issue with Maxis's authentication servers. I am getting authentication failure on my connection.

I believe you can get the error messages from your Thomson/Technicolor router page.

Except I don't use the Thompson router anymore. My MikroTik router is giving out the same authentication error, and obviously since my bill is current, and I've not changed my login, this is an error on Maxis' part. And again, it does not seem isolated.

Can confirm that Fibre is down as well on my end with "Authentication Failed" error. I'm in Subang and just got back from work. Was hoping to do some YouTube before bed but it seems that this is not only my issue. Guess tomorrow there would be a fix or something.

I already sent a tweet to @MaxisListens so let's hope for a quick resolution.
