Yup. Response time very slow. Don't know what happen.

Same here for me. Mind telling, which area you're at? I'm at Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya. Webpages are slow to load, (tested in Pale Moon, Chrome, even IE) even local websites. Tried changing DNS, power cycled everything, even the computer, the connection would suffer not long after a re-connection. I thought Dota 2 servers are being iffy due to the event going on now, but my workplace's internet (Unifi) is okay.

I gave up going through their forum, as it wasn't loading for me, you can't help feeling it's not just us. Anybody else mind telling their location?

Guess can't avoid making a complaint, I just hate being kept on hold calling their hotline. Or waiting for them to call back, if you report via the forum. Or making time for a house visit from them, as I don't keep regular hours. If it doesn't get any better today, I will have to make time then.

Keep us posted about your report with Maxis.

The cable was disrupted days ago,but the connection issue should be since yesterday. I think there's other problem at Maxis side.
*
I agree, as Unifi users doesn't seem to be affected by this issue. Unifi are also part of the consortium, and even so, why are local websites affected too?

Browsing through Maxis' Tweeter page, we *ARE* not the only ones, and Maxis are aware of it.

actually ive been experiencing this degration since day1. the speed in normal case is 9mbps. sometimes it drops to 5~6mbps without reason, after few days it come back to normal, drops and recover back n forth
*
You need to lodge a complaint. Most likely due to your port. My upload speed is iffy, I've been getting 2-5Mbps for months (on a 10Mbps account), until I can't stand it no more, as my download speed too was affected, <2Mbps. I lodged a complaint, made time for them, and they fixed it, but the full upload speed only lasted about two months. I'm now back to 5-6Mbps upload speed, and if I'm unlucky after restarting my equipment, I might get only 2Mbps.

I considered terminating my account, as my contract is already up, or at least report and get it fixed again, but the TM technicians said all ports are used up, so no Unifi, and whatever free ports leased to Maxis are in need of repairs. So until they repair these ports, or open up new ports, I'm stuck with Maxis for the time being.

im luckier than u in this case  hmm.gif my speed problem i would say 70% of the time is ok, 30% of the time is slow. and recently due to the cable problem(again) the webpage loading speed is f***in slow although speedtest says i got 6mbps doh.gif
*
Even with a speedtest, I get my full 10Mbps download speed, and I have a Ping monitoring software running. I don't have terrible packet losses, or degraded speed, it's just *painful* to browse, forget streaming.

You guys noticed the banner for this subforum? It links to this Youtube video.

And the video description;
#MaxisBestNetwork: Maxis has upgraded its network and the new network will reach more than 75% of the population before year-end. If you’re using the new Maxis network, we’re confident you can watch YouTube videos without buffering 96% of the time. In fact, we’d bet Morten Bangsgaard, our Chief Technology Officer’s life on it. Watch as we put our network to the test!

Oh, the i-r-o-n-y smile.gif

I didn't see the whole video, it keeps buffering for me.

On my end, it's slightly better, but still sluggish.

EDIT: I take it back, it's just as bad as it was yesterday.

If Youtube would load, or not fail to fully buffer, I would know. I just end up reading the description and keywords;

Keywords

maxis communications
new maxis network
4g lte
morten bangsgaard
zero youtube buffering
fastest network
widest network
network test
buffering to death
man versus network
maxis cto
maxis fibre
maxis internet
maxis fiber
Man vs Network

But it's a moot point.

Actually I don't think we should complain so much lah during such difficult moment. If you don't know what I meant, you should try to watch the entire youtube in Full HD (albeit bad connection) and I'm certain you would understand what I'm trying to say, Pity their CEO literally lickety split into two along with the sofa. cry.gif

Surely their mourning staffs have no mood to fix the FTTH right.  brows.gif

Else you think Maxis so free advertise full page obituary in Networks and Broadband with Morten Bangsgaard's favourite pet for what? Die also remember tigger ok.

I hope it won't happened today.

But, it happened.

R,I.P.

Yes, complaining much won't help to improve or even alleviate the issue(s), but not making complaints or even acknowledging that there is an issue *is not* going to help with the issue too. So if there's a problem, we should just go, 'eh, got problem lah', then ignore it?

This is a paid service, and it's not cheap. Maxis has not even come out with an official announcement regarding the current issue plaguing their Home Fibre users. They are quick to make automated calls if you miss your payments, and suspend accounts, and in all fairness, I can understand if they need time to 'fully rectify' whatever it is that's affecting their network, but cannot fathom the lack of information from their side.

It's irony, that is why I brought up the Maxis banner in the first place (as did some of the other forumers, I believe) that they're touting that they have the best networks (be it Cellular or otherwise) while their Home Fibre network is experiencing unexplained difficulties. Their customer service is clueless, and it takes a long time for them to answer our calls, their own forum moderators and Twitter handlers are giving out scripted -not-helpful-at-all answers.

And sorry, I don't quite understand what you're trying to say in your post. At best, it's just inane, and certainly not contributing positively, but hey, that's just me.

This is ridiculous . I have never experienced such downtime when I was with Unifi.

I'm switching back.

How long does it take to get a Unifi person to my house tomorrow and just get it installed and used?
*
Well, that depends. IIRC, TM will/can pull another cable if you're on a landed property (correct me guys, if this info is outdated or just wrong), but for condos or apartments, they will not pull another cable. If you're in a condo/apartment, you will need to terminate your current account first, before subscribing to a new one, (based on what a TM installer told me), so the timeframe depends on how fast Maxis terminates your account.

That stated, the fastest way is to go to a TM outlet and register, and wait 24-48 hours for an appointment date, then installation.

It IS BAD
Is there a way to do a mass complain?
*
QUOTE(sotplug @ Jan 13 2015, 03:28 PM)
Time for all affected users to take action.
SKMM a.k.a. MCMC (those in telco industry knows this is bad news)

Upgrading la, fixing la, putus la, TM la, ... all those not our problem.
It is Maxis own problems.
We pay full price, we get full service.

Keep details of:
1. Unsatisfactory service (date, event)
2. Date of complain(s) to Maxis
3. Date of Maxis reply if any (wait 3 days maybe)
4. Pay all your bills.
5. Follow SKMM steps to make complain
6. Remember to demand for rebate

This is how I made TM bow down.
Now it is Maxis turn.
*
Don't know about mass complaining, but this is what some of our forumers are doing. While this may not help with the current issue, at least Maxis should be hold accountable for this, and hopefully, they are better prepared to counter the same problem if it arises again in the future.

Usually, just mentioning MCMC or c.c.-ing an email correspondence between you and MCMC will make magic happen. Ask sotplug, or me, I've had bad experiences with TM in the past.

Hopefully you are on landed property with direct fiber. Ethernet cable to Port0 of the BTU/ONU and they will give u useless L7 router (which you will curse as it will slow down if you area is congested with WiFi) and tada, you are on UNiFi.

Good luck!
Just a matter of changing the default router given out by TM, and it's no biggie.

I'm still at my workplace, will be some hours till I get home and test my Maxis FTTH connection. Anyway, if you still have problem, you might want to refer to this.

Reporting in from Damansara Damai, on my end, it seems to be OK, for the time being, I can't be 100% sure, as the symptoms may come and go. I didn't power cycle my equipment, but trying won't hurt. Hope it gets better for you soon.

Well... not 100% for me. I have to refresh Lowyat, as not all the buttons/images are loaded fully. Overseas' websites, (the ones I always surf, football365, 9gag, lifehacker, wikipedia, the such) are OK, local sites, such as local news portals, are loading up fine, with the exception of Lowyat's forum.

Banking sites are OK, emails are OK, remote controlling into other sites from site is not lagging and/or getting disconnected. Dota 2 streaming is better, can't fault Maxis on this, as Valve's servers are notoriously problematic itself, we'll see more as more games are being played out today in a tournament.

Online media streaming, online radios are OK. Youtube is not buffering, at least the random videos I'm clicking on, and HD where applicable. Dailymotion, OK. Astro on the Go streaming, problematic, I'd to relog, or refresh several times for the media to start streaming, and getting logged out for no reason (to be fair, we can't be sure whose fault this is). Blogs; blogspot, wordpress, loading up fine.

Download speeds are what I'm used to. Let's just see if things get better or worse (knock wood) as the day progresses.

EDIT:
Unfortunately, it's still happening, some sites won't load fully now. (12:54pm)

Well, nothing about a rebate or the like. They've had had similar offers like this before, RM10 discount for Maxis postpaid subscribers, they're just targetting MaxisONE postpaid plan users, for a further RM10 discount (RM20 total off RM148). Not really enticing, and really irresponsible, I might add. Their Home Fibre network seems to be on the mend, but not 100% yet, and they want to get more people on an already suffering network.

Not much of an apology, nor does it help soothing the very-very ruffled feathers of its customers these past few days. Just a PR stunt, IMHO, to gloss over the hiccup of these past few days.

btw, did u guys use any custom router? mine suggest me the good one? budget rm200 or less

I've used Dlink 615 (flashed with DDWRT) until it died on me. Replaced it with an Asus RTN12, and it was sufficient for my use, but I've moved on to a MikroTik router (RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN, but this is way over your budget). Of course, ultimately it is up to you, and you can get more info in the thread I linked earlier, or here if you're partial to Asus routers.

QUOTE(silentsunami @ Jan 16 2015, 11:39 AM)
Maxis fibre backbone shared with TM right? Why maxis one suffer so badly one?
*
Correct, but in certain areas, they use their own infrastructure. Even with a shared backbone, their routing are done differently. I almost never play Dota 2 on my Maxis Fibre connection because the latency is horrible. To get a clearer picture, I'm getting <10ms ping at my workplace (using Unifi) and >100ms ping at home (Maxis Fibre). Most times, with a cut submarine cable, if Unifi suffers, Maxis most likely will suffer too, but in this case, Unifi has been totally unaffected. One may come to the conclusion that, this is on Maxis' end, but of course we can never know for sure, since Maxis has not been transparent.

QUOTE(CmLimExa @ Jan 16 2015, 11:00 AM)
The download speeds for any sort of files for the whole week has been stable, but the browsing and ping inconsistencies have been bothering the living bollocks out of me.

Seriously man, trying to stream anything has been a nightmare, no matter on Twitch, Ustream, or even Youtube doh.gif

I just want Maxis to state outright what went wrong with the network vmad.gif

Also, just saying that the web-surfing experience as of the current time of this posting has been alright; Youtube has a 8-9/10 chance of being fine, but that 10% is killing me;

reporting from Bayan Lepas, Penang
*
Sometimes websites just refuse to load fully for me, still. And still wondering what exactly went wrong with their network. They do acknowledge their Home Fibre is somewhat bogged down, via tweets, their forum, and facebook posts, but nothing was announced during the downtime, as it happened earlier in some places for some users.

Meanwhile they posted on facebook about their call & mobile internet services disruption, but not so much of a peep, despite many complaints, on their official channels. To be fair, issues come and go, but it's just irresponsible to keep your customers in the dark, and to come up with a *promo* to gloss over this incident is downright insulting. More so, when people are still complaining about the still-not-ok service.
